it's weird, when you're gone for extended periods of time you start to crave watching random shit

Honest advice? Six months is a long time, you will probably run out of shows.
I agree with this guy, bring a few books, they last longer. Heck, bring a Bible.
books take up too much space, I have a bunch of audiobooks I listen to while I play dark souls on my steam deck
just download a free ebook reader like "calibre" for your laptop
you can get most books for free from online archives in pdf format
so you just read it on your lappy
also put a few cracked games on the lappy that don't require access to the internet
just get some cheap mp3 player and put music on that not on your phone
and maybe get a jailbroke portable gaming device and load it up with games
So if you have time off-shore you can just take your phone and listen to spotify if you have to go through customs and leave the rest of the shit in your locker.
clean your backpack and luggage with bleach before you leave so it has no traces of drugs and shit on them
same with your wallet
get a wallet that stops people with chip readers from being able to read your bank cards
same thing with a passport holder
scan all your id, including your passport + visa, any documentation proving you are employed to work on the ship shit like that, as well as health insurance and phone details for next of kin save it as a high quality pdf to a thumb drive and keep that in your luggage
i'd be hesitant to scan bank cards and shit like that in case someone stole the thumb drive but that's up to you.
Maybe keep one bank card separate in your locker or luggage or whatever along with some id so if you do lose your wallet you can cancel your cards but you still have the ability to use your back up card and you still have some form of id as well
Not OP, but fellow seafarer here. Mostly we don't. Every sailor has been cheated on at some point. Don't go to sea kids.
Also Avatar last airbender, GITS, and other long anime series.
Maybe it was true in the past. Nowadays they instead catch and spread every STD known to man in every port they visit. Especially guys on bulk carriers which stay in ports for weeks on end.
>6 months
That's nothing. You'll be fine.
Don't bring depressing shit. No dramas or historical movies.
Just get some action slop that you can pass around the crew, like Top Gun or whatever. Maybe also series like Sunny Philly or South Park. Shounen trash anime is also ok.
We don't. It's a perfect job for socially dead people on this site.
>be you, in a very possible future >char-dark coon somalian pirates start to board your ship >everyone else is panicking the frick out, no one knows what to do >everyone's dumb asses gets taken hostage >you: "put the word out, these lames are greenlit" >you, before you got taken, had craftily managed to stick 2 whole pocket knives up your veteran ass >you start taking out guards, and steal their weapons >facing the original crew members, you say "time to put in some work, iron up" >some homosexual goes "are we gonna kill people?" >you: "The fact is, we all started out as someone's little angel. But if you leave one of those Black folk breathing, I'm whacking you." >"o-okay" >you start calling the shots, making them take certain positions to out-maneuver the enemy >total Black person death on the ship >you're given the keys to the ship
Not OP, but those types of jobs are luck of the draw. I had a few jobs this year where I was sleeping in trucks or just sitting in an office all day.
Current job I'm on requires me to actually work like 70% of the day.
I don't know how it is on cargo ships but my brother works for the navy and he says it's a normal 8 to 10 hour work day then you get your off time to do whatever. Also constant fire drills.
I have an uncle who did this for 30 years and still has a high-school drop out’s understanding of electricity. He’s also a multimillionaire from buying and holding real estate. Cast him

How do people like you have relationships?
I mean I post on this website, does that answer your question? might get a tug job later on so I can go home every night
Hint: they dont
Not OP, but fellow seafarer here. Mostly we don't. Every sailor has been cheated on at some point. Don't go to sea kids.

it's fine the first time you do it and maybe one or more time after that, once you get used to 6+ month long contracts life gets very sad
I'm not sure we just call it the officer's deck
Also gets lots of music. Music videos too. And some braindead sandbox vidya like GTA or Ubishit games.
I'm heading for couple of 10+ contracts. It is what it is.
Life is kinda sad but it was worse off as a NEET tbh. Like I said, for poor antisocial people, stuck in 3rd world shitholes, this job is a ticket out.
>officer's deck
A deck then. View seemed kinda low but it's facing forward so I assumed you were an AB or something.

Pornography? Also The Little Mermaid, your choice as to version
I like to watch video game cutscenes compilated into a movie. GTA San Andreas is like 10 hours worth of cutscenes.
