Is Rings of Power actually good? I watched about 30 mins of an episode and it was just a bunch of average looking women talking. Nothing interesting happened the whole time so I just turned it off.
Its okay if you're into Tolkien and stuff and dont care about diversity being forced into it.
It has great stories like the dworfs and Elrond and the "not-hobbits" story, but on the other side it has storylines that make you go "oh no its this fricking guy again".
the writing overall is very bad and it can feel very smoll, like
I havent watched House of Dragon yet, only Rings of Power.
Is it somehow more "epic"? It's kinda hard to explain, but I thought with lotr having the biggest budget of any TV show ever made, it would have some bigger scale.
The battles are max 20 dudes vs 20 dudes, everything looks so small, it reminds me of Vikings season 1
Where did all the money go, I dont understand
If you want a non-personal opinion:
It is not good but its not as bad as people say it is. It has its good moments but more bad moments.
If you like the Tolkien Universe give it a try, if you don't, do not bother
>recommend it

Listen I can tell you think it is mediocre but you keep bringing up how one should give it a try if one likes the Tolkiens world or how it is ok if one likes Tolkien. But I am into Tolkien and that is the number one reason I fricking hate this absolute abomination of a show. I can see how morons that just see a generic fantasy show could think it was just some mediocre little diversion, wich it is not it is moronic all on its own, but how a fan of lotr or hobbit or anything by the old coot could like this makes me irrationally angry.

he meant general audiences that like lotr, not tolkiengays
nothing has happened all season, loads of boring dialogue between empty characters. But then suddenly absolutely everything happened in a single episode where we have an attempt at recreating helms deep but in a tavern, and mount doom erupting. Several hours of total nonsense, and then an hour of "oh yeah Mordor and Mount Doom are a thing now" - The pacing is abysmal
And these awful characters, they congratulate each other over how amazing they are, it's unbelievably cringe to watch such narcissism being passed off as the people you root for

HotD is like early GoT. It has a smaller budget but it's mostly politics, backstabbing and character rivalries with the occasional violent or sexual scene. If you're into that stuff you'll enjoy it.
HotD reminds me of Rome more than GoT, honestly. A bunch of side characters that aren't really explored with the bulk of the time dedicated to three or four main characters, who are the only ones who have real arcs because they're the "historical" players. I like the approach, it's more intimate, but I wouldn't expect GoT going in.
Production values are off the chain though, the battle scenes do look really good.
this. we got face that normies have captured our hobbies under the guise of "dont gatekeep" and turned it into their usual schlock, just using tolkien as backdrop
It's neo-fantasy unrelated to any past tales or historical epics. Even Dragonslayer from the 80s had more depth than these as it tried to create a world in its entirety rather than putting it together piecemeal.
and its total shit
Fpbp
Perverting classic stories to fit modern political agendas and diversity quotas was a mistake.
cool it with the antisemitism
and that's a good thing
HOTD is really good though I don't consider it as fantasy, its medieval house of cards with dragons
Fantasy is gay.
Can't they think of anything besides magic and dragons lol
High budget? They can't even afford a light.
Too bad they both suck.

You must be lying that you like Tolkien. I can't belive you watched this schow and would recommend it to Tolkien fans.

YWNBAW
Its like recommending Bat Woman for comic fans.

What's the point of a high budget if you don't hire skilled people to work on your show?
we're also in the golden age of identity politics
One is from decent to pretty good
One is crap from get-go and had to rely on better works callback.
>fantasy
It isn't tho. It's just a soap opera for normies with a little bit of fantasy tropes here and there.
Damn best girl in both games.

You can blame critical role and reddit for that.
>Black Targaryen
>Black elves
"Golden" my fricking ass lmao
Yet the budgets are wasted on trite trash.
>high budget
Money laundering
Unimaginative, charm-lacking, cash-grab garbage - as uninspired as a slice of toast on a plastic plate.

RoPe couldn't even afford the LOTR ost. have a nice day.
HOTD is great tho.
rope is nigh-unwatchable trash
ROP made me fall asleep in ep 3. I put up an alarm for every new HOTD episode to watch with the anons on release. I dont even bother with ROP anymore
