is very old comparatively, it's grouped with the other early design phase concept art for a reason. And that reason is that Golden Guardian was the third design; after Golden Girl and Silver Queen.
Because once we established the idea that Silver Queen's powers were due to her strength enhancing bracelets, it wasn't much of a logical leap to go "and then Audrey inherits them". And since it was an exponential increase for Silver Queen, we took design cues from other "exponential strength of x" characters like She Hulk and Venom where in their canons when they bulk out in their base form it carries over to an increase in their powered form. She was always going to be relatively tall since the concept was that she would have to grow into her chest, but te muscle part of the design reflects that comic booky logic.
And on that note, I've been thinking this for a while and I kinda feel the need to point out that people being reductionist and making fun of this shit for being just fetish shit might need to read more comics because between Wonder Woman and basically everything Claremont it's honestly in good company.

Iris didn't get created until the Code lore did. Which was after Golden Guardian. Having said that, this was all extremely close creation timeline wise, to the point that it doesn't really matter beyond being a point of trivia. For what it's worth, in terms of characters created it was Golden Girl, Silver Queen, Golden Guardian, Rocker Billy and some other villains, Iris Lodell, then the Sorority of Sentinels, in that order.

That sexiness in characters shouldn't be stigmatised. Just because a character design is frickable doesn't mean that porn is all they are worth for. My primary issue with GG is that she isn't just an attractive character, she's a character with a specific niche fetish that doesn't really have much broad appeal. People can like big breasts, people can like more petite girls, but to strap huge breasts on a tiny skinny frame is naturally uncanny and is only gonna appeal to people with a fetish for this kind of body type. If you have the fetish you might not think it looks as weird, but to most people a lot GG art is far too comically proportioned to take seriously.

No. Because remember, she was *always* meant to mirror the character development of Dick Grayson; and eventually become a solo superhero. Golden Girl, Bullion, Golden Guardian = Robin, Blue and Gold Discowing, Blue and Black Nightwing. The reason the code stuff is dropped with the latter is to mirror how IRL the comics code started to get phased out in the 70s and was essentially all but gone in the late 90s.

I find their rivalry more amusing than annoying but honestly you can probably just check the file dates. That pic in
is very old comparatively, it's grouped with the other early design phase concept art for a reason. And that reason is that Golden Guardian was the third design; after Golden Girl and Silver Queen.
Because once we established the idea that Silver Queen's powers were due to her strength enhancing bracelets, it wasn't much of a logical leap to go "and then Audrey inherits them". And since it was an exponential increase for Silver Queen, we took design cues from other "exponential strength of x" characters like She Hulk and Venom where in their canons when they bulk out in their base form it carries over to an increase in their powered form. She was always going to be relatively tall since the concept was that she would have to grow into her chest, but te muscle part of the design reflects that comic booky logic.
And on that note, I've been thinking this for a while and I kinda feel the need to point out that people being reductionist and making fun of this shit for being just fetish shit might need to read more comics because between Wonder Woman and basically everything Claremont it's honestly in good company.

Iris didn't get created until the Code lore did. Which was after Golden Guardian. Having said that, this was all extremely close creation timeline wise, to the point that it doesn't really matter beyond being a point of trivia. For what it's worth, in terms of characters created it was Golden Girl, Silver Queen, Golden Guardian, Rocker Billy and some other villains, Iris Lodell, then the Sorority of Sentinels, in that order.

That sexiness in characters shouldn't be stigmatised. Just because a character design is frickable doesn't mean that porn is all they are worth for. My primary issue with GG is that she isn't just an attractive character, she's a character with a specific niche fetish that doesn't really have much broad appeal. People can like big breasts, people can like more petite girls, but to strap huge breasts on a tiny skinny frame is naturally uncanny and is only gonna appeal to people with a fetish for this kind of body type. I don't know if it's still there, but in the original concept, there was a running jokes about how no one (in universe) noticed her chest or things of a sexual nature because that would have been against the Comic Code of the era the comics were taking design inspiration from.

No. Because remember, she was *always* meant to mirror the character development of Dick Grayson; and eventually become a solo superhero. Golden Girl, Bullion, Golden Guardian = Robin, Blue and Gold Discowing, Blue and Black Nightwing. The reason the code stuff is dropped with the latter is to mirror how IRL the comics code started to get phased out in the 70s and was essentially all but gone in the late 90s.

Plucky unlucky rookie hero keeps getting into Sexy Situations, and is surrounded by a supporting cast that makes us laugh (Golden Girl's cast really should have more cool characters that draw on the era it's set in), but with room for occasional slices of serious stuff that build up over time into "final chapter of the volume" stories that let our girl be kickass.
