no?
No, in the decade+ since digital became the norm, there has not been a single good looking movie shot on digital out of the thousands made.
then why isn't the thread being spammed with examples?

Might wanna get your vision checked anon.
No.
Film has a much higher resolution and the color on digital is off
>the color on digital is off
How so?
The actual mechanism digital cameras use to capture light has different efficacies at different wavelengths of light. This is true of any light detecting equipment, but the stuff in digital looks noticeably off.
Off how?
I can't really articulate it, it just looks different. The perception and enjoyment of color isn't an exact science. I do know though that the color recording is different from film, simply by virtue of the different techniques.
You couldn't pass a ABX test between film and digital these days I guarantee you. A Man Called Otto and Nope looked like your usual digital shit regardless of being shot on film. The way movies look change by the era and that's what you're grasping on to. Not that its shot digitally.
It's a feeling. You wouldn't get it.
>has different efficacies at different wavelengths of light
Yeah, that's the deal with different film stocks as well.
I literally said that in my next sentence
Which cameras are you talking about mainly? Arri, Red, and Sony cameras will all give you different results. Red cameras are the only ones I find really horrible. But if you're shooting raw footage, you can grade your blues to literally any shade of blue that your monitor/TV is capable of showing, and so on for any of the colors. So it's ultimately all much, much more dependent on the color grade than the camera used.
That's only true for 75/65mm. Color is dependent on grading more than anything. Everything gets a digital intermediate anyway. No one edits on a Moviola anymore. Not even Spielberg's editor.
Miami vice
what movies was this again? also you gotta post one of those movie grids and not just one frame
Stray Dogs (2013)
looks good
Imo what turns me off modern movies is not just the digital/ film meme. They just feel off. Like, even outside capeshit, movies where there's not supposed to be yuge VFX still autistically touch up every shot to 'perfect' it and it always feels unnatural in the most subtle and annoying way. From the set being digitally added to the actors being 'airbrushed' or the camera moving in obviously fake ways when you could just rent a fricking crane. It's the 2020's equivalent of smearing vaseline on the lens to make the lead actress look prettier. It looks like shit and and feels jarring but everyone does it for some reason.
I remember when this board used to praise Fincher to the high heavens for "using vfx correctly" when he did this shit for Zodiac. Now everyone does it and is noticing how souless it is.
The other thing is no-one bothers using extras anymore. 'Crowds' are tiny, obviously shot at a different time and on a soundstage, and sometimes are even just composed of the same people copied and pasted over and over again. Has that same effect of making modern films seem weird and uncanny valley
>and sometimes are even just composed of the same people copied and pasted over and over again.
>The Peanut Butter Falcon
>The Revenant
>Bladed Runner 2049
>Sicario
>Drive My Car
>The Social Network
>The Batman
>1917

Digital is way easier to work with and has better low light capabilities
Kys
why do film gays always talk about digital like its 2002?
Zodiac
First Reformed
Miami Vice
Would have looked even better on film though
M A N N
Why does that sensor have so much shit on it?
Digital only really looks bad when it tries to be film. It has its own strengths and weaknesses that need to be taken into account, and if the movie is being shot with digital as if it were just "film but cheaper and easier to edit" it will look bad guaranteed, and that is how most digital movies are shot unfortunately.
Agreed.
looks great
Lighting is everything.
