not in the slightest, the writing will still be its biggest flaw.

It's not a Lear writing wise, but then Hulurama was also genuinely the worst thing I've ever heard in a cartoon. The reaper has come for the western screenwriters of yonder 90s.

Black people dont like this show either. In fact, they feel insulted by it. Just look at the comments from the trailer

He already tried that with The Cleveland Show. I don't know why he's trying again.

They have been doing that for 80 years, blacks don't have a national identity, they have a racial identity. Even though there is some deviation, they are the easiest racial group to fit in a box and write for.

Apparently a lot of the show's original fans fricking hate this and are even boycotting it
Is this one of those, "It's like seeing your daughter do porn" scenarios that go above typical not muh?
Holy shit fans of this show are still alive?

It's not that old, anon. You can go around any town in America and throw out Fonzie references and people instantly get it, to say nothing of I Love Lucy and Andy Griffith.

I don't think the Good Times cartoon will be as controversial as V*lma since it's pulling from a franchise that hasn't been rebooted enough times to be so near and dear to 5+ different generations. It's really only offending older millennials and above.

On the other hand, though, it's also offending anyone younger by just being an outdated and uninspired premise for an African sitcom. We'll see how it goes once the weekend's over.

Seth is one of the executive producers, he didn't create it. How much input does he really have over this?

About as much as he did for Bordertown, which is to say none.

About as much as he did for Bordertown, which is to say none.

Why does he stick around anyways? He could easily launch his own stuff away from the fourth and fifth networks and slowly drain them into irrelevance.

He grew complacent, like any businessman does.

To be the smartest guy in the writing room that everyone chooses to ignore.

It's kinda sad that this show sucks that much ass. I like the designs and art it gives me french cartoon vibes. But sadly people will needlessly shit on the art because the writing is horrible

Getting a 90s vibe out of this whole shot.

    >another show about black ppl written by white people
So tired of this, Cinemaphile be like "TOO MUCH BROWN/BLACK PEOPLE IN CARTOONS" while I still feel sorely underrepresented. Shows like these feel like theyre written for white libs and (forgive me for using this fricked up term) new blacks, not actual black people writing characters that represent us as a whole

      Anonymous

It's because the white liberals hold all the cards as it relates to the cultural bandwidth, and they only want to show the same stuff all the time. It affects everyone, but black people most acutely because they're holding you up as an example of diversity and a change in thought when they aren't really willing to change anything. It's all holocaust Oscar bait tier garbage straight out of the 70s. It's gotten to the point where they not only have collaborationists like new blacks, but actual skinwalkers like Aubrey Graham and Doja cat pushed as the next natural evolution of black culture when they're not.

yah its lame. honestly one of the only modern cartoons i feel represent black people very well is boondocks. there's a reason why black people damn near idolize and love the boondocks as much as DBZ or naruto. no to mention, a lot of these executives dont realize that black people want representation, but they would rather go to black people for that. if white people want to write a show that features a lot of black people idrc, but they need to realize that they get no brownie points for doing it.

What are "New Black?" When I hear that, I think suburban and rich black people who want to pretend they come from the ghetto. Like the black version of Redneck Rebellion are just a bunch of Austinite shit heads try to pretend like their country boys.

I like the art too. The character designs, they even use dynamic angles. It's solid.
Unfortunately, this show's failure will contribute to Netflix not wanting to approve of alternative art styles for future adult animated comedies.

This show wouldn't have gotten any attention if it didn't use Good Times name

Why are people calling this racist

      Anonymous

I honestly have no idea. I mean I know why but it's strange how some media that exagerates hood and black tropes to make comedy can become like super beloved (Friday, Chapelle Show or Don't be a menace) even by woke black people but some others are hated.
I'm asking not just as a random angry anon I'd really like to know why.

It's nothing but outdated black stereotypes. There's no original takes, it's pretty much written by AI.
      >Make a cartoon that's based off Good Times but way more like Family Guy and use every black stereotype you can think of.
      Even black people hate it.

As a black person, I Lynched myself lol. This is bad for anyone like i don't even think it's funny for white people as it feels so fake and basic. Really like all of Seth's stuff, he literally never breaks the mold. Idk how the ted show was actually good but he has 1 hit for every few flops.
