that might be the best description for this movie I've ever heard. I really like both movies, but you're spot on. That being said, Casino had the more satisfying ending because I hated Sharon Stone's character, which is a testimony to her acting chops and Joe Pesci was also excellent but hated him at the end for betraying his friend. Both their deaths, especially Pesci's, was great. That animatronic or whatever they used for the scene where they bury him in the cornfield is pretty disturbing.
I like the ending of Casino more than Goodfellas too just because I don't like seeing the broke/junkie/snitch ending of Goodfellas. I know it's a "true story" but still. I also like the Vegas setting more than the Goodfellas setting
It's better or worse depending on your taste. If you want More action, running around, and guys doing everyday criminal stuff, then Goodfellas is better for you. If you want to see more intelligent and more though out/less reckless activity, then Casino is better.

In my opinion it is the inverse. I prefer the ending of Casino, that version of "My Way" ruined Goodfellas, rest of the movie is great.
