I've attempted multiple times to make it past season 4, thinking it can't get completely irredeemable so suddenly, there must be a more gradual decline, there must be something worthwhile remaining. But it really is just a sharp dive into unwatchable trash. At that point, nothing matters anymore, none of the events are in service of anything but the viewership of the week. The show is killed and replaced with a by-the-numbers schlock opera.
And the Mereen plot which results in absolutely nothing except the pointless death of Barristan and Daenerys eventually saying frick it and leaving for Westeros leaving Daario 2.0 in charge of city management
And Arya's shitty Faceless Men training with the classic swimming through sewage water after getting stabbed in the guts scene to cement that out heroes have invincible plot armor when we need them to
And Stannis getting killed off in the most anticlimactic way because the writers got tired of having him around
People somehow think this show only got bad in Season 8

It really is. The start of the Sandsnake plot is pretty much the knife in the series and I always drop it before then on rewatched
