Yeah and it really shows. They manage to feel so self-contained (aside from the obivious connections ofc) in a great way that just adds to the longevity of the movies. 3 felt like such a payoff to a unique trilogy, not something like how civil war was just Avengers 2.5.

I feel like the creative control was earned over the course of tenure in Marvel. The first movie feels the most like a standard MCU movie but just set in space.
No way, the way they introduce peter and the team to the audience requires a lot more faith in the audience than most marvel movies have. they punted rocket's backstory to the third film where if it was a more traditional marvel film the high evolutionary would have been working with ronan and been dealt with then. instead the audience is left to fill in the blanks from the wounds on rocket's back and when he breaks down at the bar
I watched it a couple of days ago. I didn't like it as much as the two previous movies, but it was still entertaining. I had avoided seeing it because I've been pretty burnt out on Marvel movies for a while.
Watched it today for the 1st time. Burned out on superhero movies for years but this one was special. Cried a few times. Peter had his Hemet destroyed in v.2 but had it in iw and eg then didn't have it in v.3. Thought that was weird.
I didn't watch any of them at the theatre. Used Netflix for 1 and 2 then disney+ for 3. I would've liked to but my shitty town doesn't have a theatre anymore lol

Gunn was fine with most of it except for Thor joining the Guardians at the end. According to Zoe Saldana, Gamora was always meant to die.
I refuse to watch it.
