And it worked. If you look at any mention of the actual Swedish festival on the internet now, all top comments are about how it immediately reminds them of the movie and how it's tainted their perception of the real thing, making it something horrific instead of joyous.
It’s evident the movie producers understand sensitive messaging since they will ban and censor over things which have a tenuous resemblance to a negative depiction of women and minorities. So when they depict white people in a negative light, it’s obvious they know that they are doing it. Combine that with very public denouncements of “Whiteness” by the same cultural cadre, it becomes evident that the messaging is not a mistake or innocent.
This movie is so fricking bad. Its only saving grace is the cinematography, but everything about the writing and the acting was so bad that it's actually hilarious that this was a Hollywood film and not a teenager's high school film class project
