I can't believe how much I liked 86.
I should have watched it much earlier.

What are you thinking, you can’t say good things about anything new on /m/
imagine living in such delusion that your only defense of the show is to assert that everyone is wrong and are only pretending it's bad
The response to the show was tepid at best here, but even here most admitted that the last two episodes were good.
I thought it was phenomenal, and the wait for the last two episodes was painful. When they finally came out /m/ and Cinemaphile went ballistic. AOTY was thrown around quite a lot in those threads.
Of course, everyone here will deny they ever liked it because this is Cinemaphile.
Cinemaphile did but /m/ refused to admit to liking it

which show are we talking about?
Eight Six was melodramatic chuuni garbage, it's as bad as those shitty CW shows from the mid 2010s
>melodramatic chuuni garbage
You can reduce any non-comedy art to these.
No, you really can't. It's not reduction either.
When was the last time you enjoyed something sincerely?
>you didn't like 86? hurr why don't you like anything durr
Not a rational argument, but you probably don't know why it isn't.
You have no clue what you are talking about, do yourself a favor and watch more anime.
>still being mad that people thinks this shit is bland and boring
Not even kyoukai senki fans have this kind of delusion, is it just one guy always saying the same whenever 86 is being talked about?
86 isn't a true mecha. post proper mecha shows
I really enjoyed the character design and OST and parts of the story were interesting but it chose to focus more on the blander parts rather than the things I liked it for. The romance was cute and its alright but the bond between the 86 as they were traveling and watching them try and fail to adjust to normal life was a lot more interesting and it would have been nice to see more of that moral conflict as they returned to combat while also now technically having a home to go to. It’s been a while since I watched it but it was fun enough when it wasn’t focusing on the horny for peace girl and how much of a great person she was compared to those around her.
Part of the "I'm not a fan of mecha shows BUT-" starter kit alongside G-Witch and Code Geass
Code Geass is pure 100% distilled mecha, what are you even on about?
Where’d Gurren Lagann go
Exactly
And where is Eva
*(...) alongside G-Witch, Eva and Gurren.
Fixed that for you.
solid 6/10
it's funny how hard this fell on it's face after all that LN shilling
Please explain how it fell hard on its face in a way that doesn’t make you sound like a complete schizo
Average dystopia for teenagers
>CG mecha
Eighty-Six would be a lot better if it didn't have moeshit.
I liked the first half of S1 when people were dying left and right. Felt like there was high tension. But by episode 8 the show had burned through all of the fodders and you were just left with the 5 main characters you saw on the poster, so there wasn't really any tension to keep me watching because I knew everyone would survive, at least until they got a new infusion of fodders in the next season. And in the mean time you had to tolerate the unenjoyable stuff of the show like the MC girl or the melodrama. S2 fortunately ditched Lena and the change of country is more enjoyable, but they didn't get a new infusion of fodder characters and most of the screentime is melodrama, so I just stopped caring.
The show looked bad. Environments were too photorealistic for the cartoon characters pasted over them. Too many milky filters diluting the visuals. Ugly 3D CGI. I liked the sound design, though. It felt impactful.
