I recently thought about Jim Carrey's 1994 (Ace/Mask/Dumb and Dumber) year. Are there any other actors who've had a year like that? If so who and what movies?

Mia Melano did Blacked and Blacked Raw in the same year
2003 was a huge year for Will Ferrell's career. That was the year Old School and Elf both came out. Before 2003, no one thought he had the star power to be a leading man in comedies, especially after Night at the Roxburry was a failure. That year propelled him to become the biggest comedy movie star of the 00s.
Nobody gave a shit about elf
Yeah, that's why every store's Christmas section is covered in Elf merchandise 20 years after it came out.
Jim Carrey was never funny
He was very funny between 1991-2001
He is funny even today
I hear there was once this party in the spring of 1972 on a breezy Friday night where Tommy Lee Jones allegedly relaxed and had fun.
>I can not sanction your buffoonery
what the frick was his problem?
He signed up to make kino like the Burton films then realized it was just a toy commercial where the tone was being set by an STD-riddled coke fiend and his character had nothing to do but yell cliche villain shit

Tim Allen in 1994. He had the #1 movie (The Santa Clause), the #1 Book (whatever the frick), and the #1 TV show in America (Home Improvement). More versatile than Jim Carrey.
>More versatile than Jim Carrey.
Tim Allen literally only plays himself
but in three different media
shut the frick up, Al. Do not speak unless spoken to.
Same for Jim Carrey
>More versatile than Jim Carrey.
I don't know think so, Tim.
Charles Bronson
All those movies suck except death wish
Shut up, Black person. You haven't even watched them.
Need more proof?
As far as directors go, it'd be hard to top Spielberg's the year before. Highest grossing movie of all time at that time AND the Best Picture winner.
Thomas Mitchel in 1939
Stagecoach (Mitchell won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award)
Only Angels Have Wings
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Gone with the Wind
The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Unbroken
He was pretty good as an awkward serial killer in The Patient, with Steve Carell chained up in his basement, but his whole career is basically him being awkward. Only recently found out he's Brendan Gleeson's son. Now there's a versatile actor!
While the mention of Bronsons 1972 is close there's none similar to Jim Carrey's success that I can think of. His peak is almost equal to Arnolds prime between 1982-1994
Chow Yun-Fat was on fire in 1986/1987, Jackie Chan was kino in 1978, Brigitte Lin 1992-1994 but they aren't really comparable.
2004 ben stiller is pretty high up there, dodgeball, meet the fockers, even starsky and hutch+along came polly were (financial) hits. minor role in anchorman but still there. also was on the season of curb your enthusiasm in 2004. underrated.

The Killler
A Better Tomorrow III
God of Gamblers
Triads: The Inside Story
Steve Guttenberg had three hits in 1987, Bedroom Window, Police Academy Four, and Three Men and A Baby which was the biggest movie of the year.
Will always remember getting freaked out by the urban legend about the ghost by the window 36 seconds into Three Men and a Baby
2011-2012 Jennifer Lawrence basically ensured she'll be in Hollywood forever
X-Men Mystique, now has comic book contract money
Hunger Games, now is the lead of billion dollar franchise and is highly sought after
Silver Linings Playbook, 2nd youngest actress to win best lead actress, now she is awardsbait
Then we saw her butthole (not actually her)
Harvey’s prized horse, he was preparing 3rd best Emma was going to do some miles, what a waste
