Because nobody wants to write Carol Ferris as anything but a complete Yandere except GL TAS where she was becoming Space Girlfriend Carol the best girlfriend in space. Shame that show got cancelled.

GL TAS was just following up what Johns did with Carol.
But then Johns left, they had Carol date Kyle, and everyone wanted to forget that happened, so Carol has been benched for years.
The current GL run is her first time as a recurring character in a long time.

My best guess is that writers just aren't that interested in writing stories about the other Corps after Johns left.

Because nobody wants to write Carol Ferris as anything but a complete Yandere except GL TAS where she was becoming Space Girlfriend Carol the best girlfriend in space. Shame that show got cancelled.

Carol hasn't been a yandere for over a decade, Johns definitely didn't write her like that, he pretty much took that aspect out of her Star Sapphire identity, have you read anything recent with her? She's not even dating Hal anymore because of how unreliable he is, she's engaged to someone else.

I always thought it would be cool to revamp the color corps as a unified peacekeeping organization.

Being a peacekeeper is about juggling the sometimes paradoxical duties of protecting the innocent and punishing the guilty. Just like how the colors are on a spectrum from narrow wavelength to wide wavelength, the corps would exist on a spectrum between these two ideals.

    >Star Sapphires are on the far end of the "protect the innocent" side. They are extreme pacifists who are forbidden from ever causing harm to others, Their rings have the strongest defensive barriers, but no offensive weaponry. They tend to be deployed to planets where problems are being caused by natural disasters, rather than criminals or other wicked people.
    >The Indigo Tribe tends to be deployed to planets were there is much suffering. People on such planets will commit wicked acts, but usually out of desperation, rather than selfishness or malice. When the Tribe arrives on such a planet, they will often establish shelters at key location in order to distribute humanitarian aid. They are weak offensively, but they have just enough offensive power to establish order at their bases of operation.
    >The Blue Lanterns are a unique combination of warrior and diplomat. They are deployed to planets that have been judged to be evil, but not beyond redemption. Although they posses some offensive power, they prefer to resolve problems using their expertly trained negotiating skills.
    >The Green Lanterns exist in the middle of the "protects innocents / punish criminals" spectrum. They posses an equal array of offensive and defensive abilities. In cases where there is insufficient intelligence to determine whether a planet can be redeemed or not, a Green Lantern is usually deployed. As such, Green Lanerns must be adaptable officers who are always ready for any situation.

      >Sinestro Corpsmen are deployed to planets where peaceful negotiation is determined to be highly unlikely. Such planets can only be cowed into submission by the threat of force. Sinestro Corpsmen tend to specialize in espionage and sabotage as their preferred tactics, always taking their enemies by surprise.
      >Agent Orange is deployed only against highly malicious planets that victimize others. Pirate civilizations who raid resources from others and horde them are common targets for him. He utilizes siege tactics such as blockades, often starving his enemies into submission.
      >As the Red Lantern Corps is on the far end of the "punish the guilty" side of the spectrum, they are deployed only against the most irredeemably evil planets in the universe. They are a weapon of mass destruction that purges entire civilizations from existence. Red Lanterns tend to be suicidally crazed in their views of justice. Their rings provide very little protection, but a vast array of deadly weapons.

How would the Latern corps not be accussed of overstepping their boundaries with these? Not everyone would agree to them as protectors, and Red and Yellow (espically Yellow alone) would be put the entire corps into bad light, regardless of how much good they others might do.

          >How would the Latern corps not be accussed of overstepping their boundaries with these?

By adhering to a strict doctrine of proportionality. A planet doesn't get downgraded from Green to Yellow unless they've done something really fricked up that warrants the harsher treatment.

The combined corps' upper management has their thumb on the pulse of galactic public opinion and can tell which actions the people will praise and which they will condemn. They're good at balancing public relations with their own ideals of justice.

            >The combined corps' upper management has their thumb on the pulse of galactic public opinion
            >They're good at balancing public relations with their own ideals of justice.
So essentionally, they're just extremely good at manipulating public opinion, because a large majority wouldn't be okay with Red (and also Yellow, given their methods, leader, and the fact that many might believe they have no right to interfere with Independent planets political affairs) lanterns given their history, brutality and mental instability in ranks.
            >They are a weapon of mass destruction that purges entire civilizations from existence.
            >Red Lanterns tend to be suicidally crazed in their views of justice.
These two would be major dealbreakers if we use logic. Most sane species would never give the Reds a fraction of juristriction over any Sector. And having Genocide on your rep doesn't look good either, since even in planets that are morally reprehensible, there are still untainted youth and innocents that inhabit it.

I can only imagine the destruction Bendis would do if he got the chance to write Green Lantern. Parallax-tier annihilation.

Elaborate on that lore retcon? Also why couldn’t gold meant something like unity? Why couldn’t it be Rainbow corps or the idea of reusing the omega lanterns, idk what that was btw but someone said it about Kyle and miles comparison.

          >Elaborate on that lore retcon?
The main one being that Krpyton was actually destroyed by some new OC that everyone hated.
          >Also why couldn’t gold meant something like unity? Why couldn’t it be Rainbow corps or the idea of reusing the omega lanterns
Ask Bendis, he's the idiot who came up with that shitty LOSH future.

At least with the Legion he wrote in shit about how it's the future and could change so we can just pretend it's a different Earth than the mainline DCU (and Legion)

Here's hoping Johns untangles that mess soon, he did just bring back the original Legion of Substitute Heroes, so he's getting there.

You haven't heard? Johns is quitting DC. He's going to head of his own imprint at Image.

Yellows are more like Sinestro's better space cops with blackjack and hookers

Reds are the angry angsty revenge gang. They are basically the goth kids from south park.

Violet are the sisterhood ben and jerry's coping club for sad girls that lost their lover somehow. Others are violent angry b***hes that were drugged into being one of them.

Indigo are the extra murderey sickhouse psychos that are mindfricked into being lovey hippies living in the woods

Not up to date on whatever dumb shit DC's done with them since, especially withe Nu52's purge, but for a good while it was:
    >Red: At the core anti-hero/revenge shit, but the primal burning blood transfusion thing meant more squabbling between themselves
    >Orange: Just Larfleeze being greedy, not sure if his Nu52 solo changed any of that. Has he even come up again in all this confusing Metal/Dark Crisis merged continuity?
    >Sapphire: Love cult, but seemed to mellow out around the end/beyond Johns' run. Just seem to be general background peacekeepers
    >Indigo: Doubt they've ever come up in a meaningful way since Johns but they were forced rehabilitation of psychos

So essentially they didn't have assigned "jobs" and were just vestiges of the Guardians' dumb spectrum probing acting as they felt they should without much structure.

I feel like the Star Sapphires desperately need to expand beyond romantic love, they already toyed with the idea when Kryb wanted her babies back, but because of the lack of focus on them, they haven't truly explored the idea of non-romantic love.

      Anonymous

If the industry continues the way it's going they're going to need a serious rebranding anyway, a sexy all-female army dedicated to monagomo-normatve "true love" is not gonna fly forever. A return to dominatrix Carol may be in the offing.

        Anonymous

They've already changed their costumes and supposedly even let men join their group, they just have to actually show it.
And like I said, focusing on love beyond the romantic sense would be perfect for them, whether it's between friends, family, or even ideas, love isn't exclusive to couples.
        >A return to dominatrix Carol may be in the offing.
That hasn't been a thing in like over a decade and Carol has been doing mostly fine, specially since they've been focusing on her being a girlboss more than anything, she's been in control of Star Sapphire for a long time now.

Like how? Evil? Star Sapphire Carol hasn't been evil in a long time.
But if you meant the costume, then probably no, which is a good thing, that costume fricking sucks.

No Star Sapphire costume will look as good as the classic one piece leotard, the ultra revealing swimsuit was way too tacky, and the modern full body suit is just boring, the leotard was perfection.

          Anonymous

NTA I would like it if it wasn't just them and the Indigos having non standard body suit + colour design. Feels lazy. If they are going to do it for some every corp should have something that evokes their emotion.

I'd imagine it's like the political compass
    >Center
    White (Life)
    >Lib Center
    Green (Will)
    >Auth Center
    Yellow (Fear)
    Sinestro is very orewillian
    >Right Center
    Orange (Greed)
    Capitalism is economically right wing
    >Left Center
    Sapphire (Love)
"Love is Love" is a sentiment that gets thrown quite a lot on their side
    >LibLeft
    Blue (Hope)
    >AuthRight
    Red (Rage)
I don't think i need to explain this one
    >AuthLeft
    Indigo (Compassion)
Indigos display a cultish hivemind behaviour
    >LibRight
Larfleeze got so greedy his avarice consumed the freedom and diversity of the corps

Left side is blue, indigo and sapphire
Lib is Life and Auth is Death
