I'll push this film any time I can. Definitely a personal top favorite. It's called Barfly starring Mickey Rourke. Though he doesn't quite capture the same energy Chinaski had in the books, he does a good job. Great flick.

In terms of the funny dialogue with crass mobsters in-between missions, probably the movie 'Snatch'. But it's got a London flair to it rather than New Yorkers like in GTA3.

gta 3 was basically just a brit’s interpretation of what nyc is anyway, so this is a solid pick

Street Kings (2008) is pure Rockstar crime noir kino. And the cast is rad too, early Chris Evans, Hugh Laurie, Common. And you see a lot off familiar faces too the asian guy from WoWS, Mayan leader from SOA.

I played the Definitive Edition of it, and I can safely say that you and the thousands out there like you are just massive nostalgia homosexuals. Simple as. Your games suck, homosexual.

the definitive edition is a terrible remaster but yeah the gameplay doesn't hold up at all

Zoomers will never know how mindblowing it was to play this game in 2002.

going from playing my mom's NES as a kid to just being given a ps2 with GTA3 right after 9/11 as a 7 year old was insane

Missing the point. NTA, but that is the whole point of playing it in 2002. We never played anything quite like it before. Like it or hate it, every game after GTA3 became open world because it was so influential.

Of course, being a zoomie, and playing so many derivatives of GTA3, you will never understand what made it so special. Anon was right.

People gave this game a 10/10. Today it's a light to a decent 6 (would be a 3 if not for the music)

It still holds up, looks better than it's sequels. If I had to play one of the 3d ones through again, it would be 3.

you're wrong. it is still the game with the best action movie car chase physics

also has cars made of paper and cars that can't flip back over. all with a rigid camera. the game is great for its time but outclassed by later installations

        Anonymous

Hence why 2002 was clearly stated you fucking dumb zoomer.
For boomer chads the glory of a new console generation meant a significant bump in, well, everything from graphics to story to audio. Zoomers can never experience that. All they can get is new games to rent and new microtransactions to look forward to.
Things were different back then. Women were still women. Crazy to think of now.
