>Gundam is a very mysterious thing for me. I really don't see why Gundam is still popular after so many years. Sometimes I have to see it on due to the necessity of my job, but I think it's a poorly made work.

We're lucky to get one show every 2 years. Can't be picky. We will still complain but there is nothing else.

The last known Otaku sighting was in 1985, they're extinct.

Why does so much of /m/ misunderstand Gundam?

    >Q: As a manga artist, you started running “Gundam: The Origin” in 2001 to tell the story before the war (of independence), which is not included in “Gundam.”

    >A: When it comes to war, there are always events leading up to it. But because “Gundam” begins against the backdrop of a war, it caused misunderstanding among fans who said things like “war is cool” or “war may be right as long as it is a form of resistance of the weak.”

    >So I told a story of the past not included in the original (anime) for the manga series. We’re making an animated adaptation now.

    >Q: A wide variety of characters are introduced in “Gundam,” including the protagonist, Amuro Ray, who doesn’t have many friends and is an introvert, as well as Char Aznable, who is driven by an urge for revenge against the Zabi family that controls the Zeon forces.

    >A: Because we humans have so many flaws, we can’t stop making mistakes and are not good at communication--or more specifically, it may be impossible for us to achieve it--and it is such a nuisance, but all these things are crucial elements in “Gundam.”

    >And yet, it became widely misunderstood that the most significant theme of “Gundam” was to say that the future would belong to Amuro and other Newtypes (who have outstanding combat capabilities and can communicate with others beyond language) because they can understand each other.

    >As a creator, I must try and tell a story so that there will be no misunderstanding. It is one of the reasons why I work on “The Origin.”

The novel LITERALLY implies this and that death isn't the end of existence for the next generation
he was a tiny part of Zeta/ZZ and then not at all for CCA which changed the narrative leaning hard into
      >Because we humans have so many flaws, we can’t stop making mistakes and are not good at communication--or more specifically, it may be impossible for us to achieve it--and it is such a nuisance, but all these things are crucial elements in “Gundam.”

This is an amusing point as well because Bandai pushed for his inclusion in f91 which is more starwars than it is gundam in the grand scheme of the narrative. Then once again he's nowhere to be seen working on Victory and Turn A which both reinforce the true and honest meaning of gundam

senile old homie acting like he was "with" it and didn't write an exciting action sequence where a 11 year old went on a rampage with a guntank

Tomino's shitty sequels are non-canon. He didn't understand Gundam or what made it good.

Nobody misunderstands it at all. It's just when you peel back the layers, it's still just soulless woke moralhomosexualry garbage meant to guilt trip you into being some kind of altruistic person by making you think it's WAOW SO DEEP! If they really wanted to impress me, they would do a show where the space nazis completely shitstomp the good guys, blow up the gundam and send everybody to the gas chambers. Still wouldn't be deep, but it would at least break the mold of shitty "GOOD TRIUMPHS OVER EVIL" that's made media as a whole stagnant for centuries.

Because the intent of the author is not as profound or interesting as he thinks. People enjoy Gundam for its setting and narrative structure. Everyone already knows war is bad but that doesn't mean it isn't interesting.
