Your post sums up my feelings, I think the biggest flaw in the show was the emotional hits just didn't land that well. I felt too detached from the characters, the movies add some scenes to improve this, but I think it's just a fundamental issue due to the way the story is told. Otherwise it's definitely worth a watch.
Episode 6 is my favorite. Tomoki Kyouda also storyboarded it.
Like every Tomino Gundam ever, it's too rushed for its own good.
But this time it's only 24 episodes and made in an era where that's even more apparent.
That's the biggest issue of the show by far, and it cripples cripples it.
Not every Tomino Gundam is rushed.
Zeta for example was pretty slow for the amount of content in the show.
And Turn A is extremely slow although it works for that series.
By his own admission they are rushed and he thinks of it as one of his major failings.
He has difficulty getting his story across to the viewer. It's fact.
Still good shows though.
>he just cares more about the worldbuilding
Literally.
He cares a lot more about building the intricate universe than actually showing it off in the show. Everything zaps by so fast in Reconguista you can't even appreciate the worldbuilding he did.
The plot and the world are pretty interesting, though they do suffer from being rushed a little. Movies 1-3 fix that a bit, supposedly 4 and 5 do more but they're not really accessible for now so it's hard to say. The animation, though, is excellent. Probably best Gundam animation since Turn A.
It fricking sucks.
Stick to A/Z homosexual
What if I hate A/Z?
Best Gundam TV series since Turn A.

It's been 28 years since Macross had anything good lmao
Yea you're right Macross 7 baby!!!!!
The idea of it is nice but good god that was terrible. Garnidelia was the only thing keeping me on board.

I wouldn't say Tomino shows are rushed, he just cares more about the worldbuilding than telling a story.

It's fun, I just don't like the ending scene.
I think it's great
Best anime for me
