My favorite one-off would be the Powerdolls OVAs. They have the old games but I wish there was more in terms of story. Both 20-minute episodes were unique and animated fairly well enough.

Whats the deal with the HADES system in Pale Rider. All ive seen from a couple pages in the manga is a pilot helmet with some wires coming out. Does more happen?
It's a combination of combat drugs and attempts to force high density data directly to the pilot from the suit's learning computer. It worked although turns out there were rather nasty long term side effects to it's use for the pilot. Such as memory loss and the potential for the pilot to go berserk
Even the lesser version of HADES for the Pale Rider Calvary had issues for it too.
Remember HADES is pretty much Augusta attempting to create their own version of EXAM with some """""Help""""" from Dr. Moses and some bits of the system but Chlust Moses is a spiteful b***h and mostly dumped them garbage information which is why you eventually get the Red Rider (Aggressor manga), White and Black Riders (Code Fairy game, now getting a manga) to be beta testers for HADES and other techs that would eventually be compiled into the Pale Rider.
Of course Black Rider was an utter lemon, White Rider almost G04'd itself and no clue what happened to Red but that thing was almost Gyan Tier melee focused.

It has the bugged HADES system AREUS which has no limiter. Whoever hopped into the MS can get their brain easily fried.
Also comes with AED to revive any unlucky pilots.
At the end the solar storm killed the system in Red Rider during a battle in low atmosphere.

Presumably Augusta Labs didn't know or believe about the weird ass shit going on with EXAM because Moses again was enough of a jackass that they musta figured he was bullshitting them with the entire Marion Welch shit. (Which is why Zeon probably laughed at him and he flipped sides because he REALLY REALLY hated Newtypes)
Mostly the suit glow is due to it starting to overheat and being an easy external visual reference to show SYSTEM ACTIVE just like how EXAM caused stuff to go red theming on the optic and thruster contrails somehow.
Because being designed originally for a game has to have you show off some different visual language
Flipped through most of Aggressor, was okay. You dont really learn about the background of Red Rider, the MC just kinda has it from the start. Alot of cool scenes on foot but the actual mobile suit fights kinda drag on. Dianne Neuss is a badass.
