The show has trouble with some characters looking older than they are supposed to be. It's one of the strange little quirks the show's art style has.
Yeah, it's a darn shame they haven't used mini Patrica more. Mini Hailey is really cute so it's nice seeing her but it would be fun to see more shenanigans mini Patricia was getting up to.
Fricking loved the slumber party and trampoline segments. It's always a treat to see Hailey interact and hang out with characters other than Scott, i feel she doesnt do that too often. Lots of Becker and AC screen time which was a blast, Lucy and Kennedy fit in well, Scott wasn't annoying. Everyone bounced off each other well and no one over stood their welcome.
Genuinely funny jokes (Hailey getting Jenna and Brenna confused in her flashback, that kid laughing at hailey and then falling into the pit right after, "I remember it like it was yesterday...") which I admit arent always the show's best aspect. Hell, both episodes even ended with pretty good twists(the googly eyes and what really happened at the party). These might be my favorite episodes so far.

I kinda regret my decisions over the last month and a half, but I'm too far into the comic project and too close to release to give up on it.
I'd likely feel more optimistic if I didn't have such a low opinion of this show.
I dropped it after the episode where Becker gets her gf. It pissed me off that they dropped the whole "Becker likes Hailey" plot so goddamn quickly. It was so hacky.
I was already having a hard time trying to like it, and that episode was the stroke that broke the camel's back for me.

I just think it's boring. The only times I felt it got decent was when they tried to tackle the actual plot, but most episodes that are just "Hailey does X item on the list" are very boring. Hailey is just so perfect and lucky so most of the time she accomplishes everything with ease, and in the very few times she can't, someone will do it for her. The worst episode in that regard is the one with the sci-fi con, where the cosplayers from the future come out of nowhere to save the day.
I also feel like the gross-out humor they do every now and then feels out of place to me. The episode when they adopted the old flamingo was the worst for me, I hated every second of it.
On top of all of this, there's something about the character designs in this show that rubs me the wrong way. Hailey is very very cute (I wouldn't be working on this at all if I didn't like her), but apart from a couple of other characters, I plainly dislike how everyone else looks. They strongly resemble bitmoji characters, only with smaller heads. I also strongly dislike how Becker and AC look like they're 10, and then Kristine and the black chicks look like they're in their late 20's. I could go on and on, honestly.
Yeah, that's fair. The Becker Hailey thing looked like it could have had promise. I'm not even saying I wanted them to hook up or anything, I could go either way there really. But they missed out on possible jokes they could have gotten from the duo. Both from the contrast of Hailey and Becker's attitudes having to work together and the misunderstandings of one thinking the other was into them. We got a bit of it in the episode Becker fricks off and it showed that there could have been fun to be had from the dynamic. As for Hailey being perfect or really lucky, yeah that's also totally fair as well. She can pretty much do everything from day one and it is a mystery how she hasn't finished the whole list already with the ability she has. Some of the later episodes do shake it up a bit by showing Hailey can be a liar and that her hardheadedness can actually be a problem for her and causes her more trouble and keeps her from finishing her list items, but it takes too long to get to that kind of thing. That should have been a flaw of hers from the start. I get what they were going for I think with the Kristine thing. They wanted her to greatly contrast Hailey and make her look lesser. But some of the other girls really don't have the excuse. Still, with all that being said I think the show is alright and that it does get a little better as it goes, but I don't blame you for dropping it as you did.
Honestly, I knew Hailey x Becker was not going to be a thing at all, and I'm actually glad about that. They just wasted a whole plot.
They could've made an episode about Becker finding out that Hailey likes Scott, coming to terms with heartbreak (or trying to sabotage Scott and make him look bad, thinking Hailey will like her). Or they could've done an episode where Becker prepares to confess to Hailey, only for her to kindly reject her stating that she doesn't like girls/she likes someone else ie. Scott.
There's plenty of shit you can do that could actually give some value to all the lesbian crap going on in cartoons nowadays.
I was also immensely pissed off about the fact that they dropped Scott's relationship with Kristine so soon. They should've waited for the end of the season at the very least. I could've dropped the show right away, but the episodes themselves weren't that bad, so I still had some hope.
I assume they'll be back at the end of the season or something. Or maybe Hailey will kiss Scott but either some bullshit technicality keeps that item from being ticked off, or she'll realize that she doesn't like Scott that way after all, then turn lesbian herself or something.
Either way, it'll likely be very disappointing.

Honestly, I really have some mixed feelings about this project. I'm happy with the story I wrote, and I think the content is pretty nice.
When I started, I wanted to do something that looked nicer than the last comic I made, the one about the Amphibia girls going to Thailand. That comic lacked a lot of polish, to say the least. Stuff here and there made it so I couldn't make it look prettier, sadly, so when I look back on it, I can't help but think I could've done a much better job (especially considering that Amphibia is probably the one thing I've never gotten tired of).
So I set off to try to do something that looked better, and even though I've gone through my fallout with the show itself, I don't want to give up, especially when I'm just a mile away from the goal. I kinda regret picking Hailey for this, because as much as I think Hailey is attractive, I just don't feel the same about the show and what surrounds it.
All I wish is for a show that can catch my attention as Amphibia did. I've never felt any burnout whatsoever when I draw Amphibia stuff because I genuinely love that show; perhaps if a new show came out and could attract me in the same way the frog show did, I wouldn't feel any burnout drawing characters from it.

An almost Sisyphean task even. I like Hailey well enough but I won't try to say it can hook like that show did. But it sounds like you are almost done and if you are satisfied with the content you are making then that's very good. Especially if you feel like you're improving on your previous work. Even if you didn't end up liking Hailey's show like you did the other one, you are working on what looks to be a fun comic and one that is looking pretty impressive. What you'll learn from working on it will carry on to other projects. I do hope you'll eventually give Hailey another go, but even if you don't that's totally cool. Either way it's fun seeing you share your work that comic as you go and that you did some requests as well. I hope you find a show that you really like the same way you did Amphibia one day.

Huh, I kind of liked the Willy Wonka episode. I didn't think it was great or anything but I remember thinking it was alright when I watched it. Though I haven't gone back to rewatch it yet. Exhausted and more aggressive Becker was cool. Didn't think we could get more unhinged Becker, but we did. Not sure how often we may see her like that so it was fun having her for as long as we did.
I think they are rushing through some elements of the story too fast. Kristine was casted off just as she was becoming an interesting character. I'm glad they haven't done the same with Becker, but the crush fake out probably pissed off a lot of yurishippers. The chaos bots stuff is actually kind of interesting but they so rarely utilize it (they aren't even fricking mentioned in these four episodes, even after a time glitch) and I think the backstory needs a bit more to it other than "some evil robots want to accelerate climate change". Overall the premise is fun, but it also can be predictable, since Hailey cannot ever lose.
The rushed feel is an interesting point. I mean one of the first things we heard about this show before it was about it air was that it was going to have a thirty episode first season. That's a lot of episodes. More than most other Disney shows get. Heck, double what Moon Girl got. So it seems weird they'd rush through some of these story bits. What is it that they're rushing through these for? Is there some other idea they want to get to that they're trying to rush to? I don't really see it. The premise can already pretty much be used for a huge amount of episodes already since any random task can be justified by it being on Hailey's list. Why rush things?
Assuming that those 30 episodes are 15 minute segments each, that's enough time to tell a story, if a little compact depending on the scale. For a story like this it should be alright. There's just certain hooks that are introduced as quickly as they are resolved, thats the real issue. Certain things should've happened sooner and ended later.
They don't refer to segments as episodes on announcement pages. A segment isn't an episode. It was described as thirty episodes. Episodes referring to the twenty two minute run time. Possibly with two eleven minute segments each or with some full twenty two minute single segment episodes.

Yeah, that's what confuses me. This isn't like Moon Girl that only got sixteen episodes. Hailey has twice that many but it's blowing through ides in the show like they're only getting one twenty episode season it seems.

There's a very good chance Hailey is getting a second season. Disney pretty much guarantees all it's animated series two seasons at the very least for a while now. And if that second season is coming then the crew would have known ahead of time so they'd have presumably planned accordingly.
Everything is implying that Hailey will kiss Scott in the season finale, HOI feels like a one-season show.

Honestly I think Molly if anything is this show but better, it feels like the creators want to try more things and have a desire to tell a story, Hailey feels like would like to go deeper into a story, but it's held back by the executives, a lot of this show does feel like it's an executive wet dream, safe characters, mostly comedic, colorful with generic songs that will go on a Spotify.
I do love the show, but I can't help but think that's in spite of all of the above.

What I wonder is why they choose some of the most boring fricking scenes from these episodes to make clips off. Like the most recent Hailey clip is just them talking to Doug Dimmadome.

Well sure. That was a clear from the start. Otherwise Hailey wouldn't be able to get that kiss. But I think it's how it went down that soured people on her. The whole boomerang thing and insisting Hailey keep anyone from getting close to Scott probably did a number on her reception.
I guess that makes sense. But trying to turn the audience on Kristine is a funny way to do it. Though I doubt they intended for people to dislike Kristine over that what with the hat episode that came not long after it.
as of this point in the series, which is getting pretty late, there are very few characters introduced that if revealed to be the creators wouldn't be complete asspulls (ie the crab obsessed teacher or an incidental like Bailey) or totally lame and predictable (A.C., Bill Board)
There are interesting theories that it could be Scott or Kristine but they really stretch the realm of believable, along with any family member of Hailey's like Patricia or her brothers. I think though the season is just going to end without them actually revealing it, just maybe dropping a really big bread crumb right before the credits hit.
A part of me wonders if we'll ever see who sent them. I'm not even really sure what finding out who sent them may do for her since even if she finds out it's not like she should be able to do to much without messing up the time line. But I guess this show never really cared much for keeping the time line safe or anything what with all the mucking about going on. A part of me wonders if we may actually go the whole series without ever finding out who is sending them. It would be a let down of sorts, but I'm not sure what answer to that question would be satisfying anymore.
Oh right. We've got an episode with the flamingo coming. I was sort of wondering if they were going to do anything else with it. After that first episode and I think a second appearance later on I don't think we've seen it much.

Fricking loved the slumber party and trampoline segments. It's always a treat to see Hailey interact and hang out with characters other than Scott, i feel she doesnt do that too often. Lots of Becker and AC screen time which was a blast, Lucy and Kennedy fit in well, Scott wasn't annoying. Everyone bounced off each other well and no one over stood their welcome.
Genuinely funny jokes (Hailey getting Jenna and Brenna confused in her flashback, that kid laughing at hailey and then falling into the pit right after, "I remember it like it was yesterday...") which I admit arent always the show's best aspect. Hell, both episodes even ended with pretty good twists(the googly eyes and what really happened at the party). These might be my favorite episodes so far.

I kinda regret my decisions over the last month and a half, but I'm too far into the comic project and too close to release to give up on it.
I'd likely feel more optimistic if I didn't have such a low opinion of this show.

I dropped it after the episode where Becker gets her gf. It pissed me off that they dropped the whole "Becker likes Hailey" plot so goddamn quickly. It was so hacky.
I was already having a hard time trying to like it, and that episode was the stroke that broke the camel's back for me.
I just think it's boring. The only times I felt it got decent was when they tried to tackle the actual plot, but most episodes that are just "Hailey does X item on the list" are very boring. Hailey is just so perfect and lucky so most of the time she accomplishes everything with ease, and in the very few times she can't, someone will do it for her. The worst episode in that regard is the one with the sci-fi con, where the cosplayers from the future come out of nowhere to save the day.
I also feel like the gross-out humor they do every now and then feels out of place to me. The episode when they adopted the old flamingo was the worst for me, I hated every second of it.
On top of all of this, there's something about the character designs in this show that rubs me the wrong way. Hailey is very very cute (I wouldn't be working on this at all if I didn't like her), but apart from a couple of other characters, I plainly dislike how everyone else looks. They strongly resemble bitmoji characters, only with smaller heads. I also strongly dislike how Becker and AC look like they're 10, and then Kristine and the black chicks look like they're in their late 20's. I could go on and on, honestly.
Yeah, that's fair. The Becker Hailey thing looked like it could have had promise. I'm not even saying I wanted them to hook up or anything, I could go either way there really. But they missed out on possible jokes they could have gotten from the duo. Both from the contrast of Hailey and Becker's attitudes having to work together and the misunderstandings of one thinking the other was into them. We got a bit of it in the episode Becker fricks off and it showed that there could have been fun to be had from the dynamic. As for Hailey being perfect or really lucky, yeah that's also totally fair as well. She can pretty much do everything from day one and it is a mystery how she hasn't finished the whole list already with the ability she has. Some of the later episodes do shake it up a bit by showing Hailey can be a liar and that her hardheadedness can actually be a problem for her and causes her more trouble and keeps her from finishing her list items, but it takes too long to get to that kind of thing. That should have been a flaw of hers from the start. I get what they were going for I think with the Kristine thing. They wanted her to greatly contrast Hailey and make her look lesser. But some of the other girls really don't have the excuse. Still, with all that being said I think the show is alright and that it does get a little better as it goes, but I don't blame you for dropping it as you did.
Honestly, I knew Hailey x Becker was not going to be a thing at all, and I'm actually glad about that. They just wasted a whole plot.
They could've made an episode about Becker finding out that Hailey likes Scott, coming to terms with heartbreak (or trying to sabotage Scott and make him look bad, thinking Hailey will like her). Or they could've done an episode where Becker prepares to confess to Hailey, only for her to kindly reject her stating that she doesn't like girls/she likes someone else ie. Scott.
There's plenty of shit you can do that could actually give some value to all the lesbian crap going on in cartoons nowadays.
I was also immensely pissed off about the fact that they dropped Scott's relationship with Kristine so soon. They should've waited for the end of the season at the very least. I could've dropped the show right away, but the episodes themselves weren't that bad, so I still had some hope.
I assume they'll be back at the end of the season or something. Or maybe Hailey will kiss Scott but either some bullshit technicality keeps that item from being ticked off, or she'll realize that she doesn't like Scott that way after all, then turn lesbian herself or something.
Either way, it'll likely be very disappointing.

I thought the same but yeah they did pretty much drop it. Kristine as a character as well hasn't shown up much since either. The last episode of that relationship also makes Kristine out to be a bit of a b***h there. The whole thing does feel kind of funny since it seemed like it was such a big roadblock in Hailey's path, but now it's gone.

Honestly, I really have some mixed feelings about this project. I'm happy with the story I wrote, and I think the content is pretty nice.
When I started, I wanted to do something that looked nicer than the last comic I made, the one about the Amphibia girls going to Thailand. That comic lacked a lot of polish, to say the least. Stuff here and there made it so I couldn't make it look prettier, sadly, so when I look back on it, I can't help but think I could've done a much better job (especially considering that Amphibia is probably the one thing I've never gotten tired of).
So I set off to try to do something that looked better, and even though I've gone through my fallout with the show itself, I don't want to give up, especially when I'm just a mile away from the goal. I kinda regret picking Hailey for this, because as much as I think Hailey is attractive, I just don't feel the same about the show and what surrounds it.
All I wish is for a show that can catch my attention as Amphibia did. I've never felt any burnout whatsoever when I draw Amphibia stuff because I genuinely love that show; perhaps if a new show came out and could attract me in the same way the frog show did, I wouldn't feel any burnout drawing characters from it.
Oh hey, you did that Amphibia comic? Nice. And yeah, I see what you mean. Coming from a show that grabbed you like Amphibia did and then trying to find that same feeling in another show can be tough. An almost Sisyphean task even. I like Hailey well enough but I won't try to say it can hook like that show did. But it sounds like you are almost done and if you are satisfied with the content you are making then that's very good. Especially if you feel like you're improving on your previous work. Even if you didn't end up liking Hailey's show like you did the other one, you are working on what looks to be a fun comic and one that is looking pretty impressive. What you'll learn from working on it will carry on to other projects. I do hope you'll eventually give Hailey another go, but even if you don't that's totally cool. Either way it's fun seeing you share your work that comic as you go and that you did some requests as well. I hope you find a show that you really like the same way you did Amphibia one day.

Actually do something with Becker's crush on Hailey instead of resolving it in the next episode.
I think they are rushing through some elements of the story too fast. Kristine was casted off just as she was becoming an interesting character. I'm glad they haven't done the same with Becker, but the crush fake out probably pissed off a lot of yurishippers. The chaos bots stuff is actually kind of interesting but they so rarely utilize it (they aren't even fricking mentioned in these four episodes, even after a time glitch) and I think the backstory needs a bit more to it other than "some evil robots want to accelerate climate change". Overall the premise is fun, but it also can be predictable, since Hailey cannot ever lose.
The rushed feel is an interesting point. I mean one of the first things we heard about this show before it was about it air was that it was going to have a thirty episode first season. That's a lot of episodes. More than most other Disney shows get. Heck, double what Moon Girl got. So it seems weird they'd rush through some of these story bits. What is it that they're rushing through these for? Is there some other idea they want to get to that they're trying to rush to? I don't really see it. The premise can already pretty much be used for a huge amount of episodes already since any random task can be justified by it being on Hailey's list. Why rush things?
Assuming that those 30 episodes are 15 minute segments each, that's enough time to tell a story, if a little compact depending on the scale. For a story like this it should be alright. There's just certain hooks that are introduced as quickly as they are resolved, thats the real issue. Certain things should've happened sooner and ended later.
They don't refer to segments as episodes on announcement pages. A segment isn't an episode. It was described as thirty episodes. Episodes referring to the twenty two minute run time. Possibly with two eleven minute segments each or with some full twenty two minute single segment episodes.

Yeah, that's what confuses me. This isn't like Moon Girl that only got sixteen episodes. Hailey has twice that many but it's blowing through ides in the show like they're only getting one twenty episode season it seems.
on the one hand, I would love to see a second season of this. in fact, for a lot of shows (like Amphibia, Star Vs, and Owl House) i feel like the second season was where things really picked up. however, in some other cases, like Molly McGee and Gravity falls, going into an unplanned additional season (even if its a second one) could spell disaster
There's a very good chance Hailey is getting a second season. Disney pretty much guarantees all it's animated series two seasons at the very least for a while now. And if that second season is coming then the crew would have known ahead of time so they'd have presumably planned accordingly.
Everything is implying that Hailey will kiss Scott in the season finale, HOI feels like a one-season show.
I feel the same. But it would really break the mold of Disney animated stuff if Hailey only got one season. That's not something any of their animated series have had to deal with in years. Which makes me think the season finale is going to do some thing to change that and mess up that kiss.
I heard that a problem with Molly Mcgee season 2 is that they already killed the main villain in season 1 and there's nothing to do as a result.
Scott will turn gay in the finale and refuse to kiss Hailey.

I think Molly is better myself tbh. Hailey is cute and all, but I think Molly has a better cast. Hailey would be better if her sidekicks were Becker and AC instead of Scott and Beta, but as things are Molly and Scratch are a stronger duo.

Honestly I think Molly if anything is this show but better, it feels like the creators want to try more things and have a desire to tell a story, Hailey feels like would like to go deeper into a story, but it's held back by the executives, a lot of this show does feel like it's an executive wet dream, safe characters, mostly comedic, colorful with generic songs that will go on a Spotify.
I do love the show, but I can't help but think that's in spite of all of the above.

To be fair Kiff is doing pretty well, probably better than Hailey, that recent Halloween episode is getting a frickton of views. The HOI episode that was posted with it has like 1/10th the amount (though its doing better than some of the previous episode releases as well).
What I wonder is why they choose some of the most boring fricking scenes from these episodes to make clips off. Like the most recent Hailey clip is just them talking to Doug Dimmadome.
I know it was kind of a Halloween episode and it was a fun one, but I kind of wish Hailey had gotten a proper Halloween episode. It is kind of funny seeing they mucked up the scenes to pick for the Hailey clips. You'd think they'd want to put their best foot forward with those.

Well sure. That was a clear from the start. Otherwise Hailey wouldn't be able to get that kiss. But I think it's how it went down that soured people on her. The whole boomerang thing and insisting Hailey keep anyone from getting close to Scott probably did a number on her reception.

I really wish they hadn't put her on a bus so quickly, especially after the quincinera and school play episode gave her a degree of depth.

as of this point in the series, which is getting pretty late, there are very few characters introduced that if revealed to be the creators wouldn't be complete asspulls (ie the crab obsessed teacher or an incidental like Bailey) or totally lame and predictable (A.C., Bill Board)
There are interesting theories that it could be Scott or Kristine but they really stretch the realm of believable, along with any family member of Hailey's like Patricia or her brothers. I think though the season is just going to end without them actually revealing it, just maybe dropping a really big bread crumb right before the credits hit.
A part of me wonders if we'll ever see who sent them. I'm not even really sure what finding out who sent them may do for her since even if she finds out it's not like she should be able to do to much without messing up the time line. But I guess this show never really cared much for keeping the time line safe or anything what with all the mucking about going on. A part of me wonders if we may actually go the whole series without ever finding out who is sending them. It would be a let down of sorts, but I'm not sure what answer to that question would be satisfying anymore.
