Halo

Why is it illegal for Master Chief to wear his armor in a Halo TV show? Did they just decide to completely divorce this show from the source material?

I thought I was done last episode with the no power armor thing.

Well now they just skipped the whole fall of reach which made halo even happen.

They didn't care about the source material, they just assumed people would watch because of the name.

That was when season 1 was in production. They wanted to do a Mass Effect show but could only get the rights for Halo.

Why wear it if he's not in combat?

He was in combat, the most fighting in the season, and he and all the other spartans were in regular clothes. They also had a gay blind spartan, and he was carrying the rifle around. The idea of a blind man shooting at sounds he thinks might be the enemy is terrifying.

if you complain about getting shot by a blind man you're a bigot

The real question is - how can he even hear anything?

Wouldn't they all instantly have hearing damage fighting like they did in that scene.

Loregays, pls assist. What did the UNSC do with the crippled Spartans? They can't go back to their families, do they just kill them?

they die during augmentation, training or combat
          no in betweens

Yeah I thought so. Feels there'd be at least one case of dragging a spartan back with an arm chopped off by an elite. Wait, I'm remembering Halo: Reach more, I think one of team had a robot arm. They must just keep throwing them back out there.

In lore the crippled Spartan 2s who didn’t die where either put in crying till they had the medical tech to heal them or repurposed in other parts of the military as even despite the augmentations each Spartan is a genetic freak and high int

I think it’s mostly 343 lore for the washouts but iirc there was a woman who became leader of oni
Red team and a couple others in halo wars where successfully reaugmented and are essentially just normal Spartan 2s but physically a decade and a bit younger

I know failed (washed due failed augments) spartans were put into command positions to help with strategies. Assume the same for wounded ones. They are supposed to be smart as frick

he wears the armor to distance himself from the outside and the associated emotions, the books and the old game trailers including the scene where he actually takes off the helmet basically spoonfed you this.
he and the armor are inseparate which is a trope that has been used in scifi for a long time.
the books gave him a more human side and so bungie adopted a more human side as well with his interactions with cortana, while keeping the trope alive still ...even forward unto dawn understood this, hence the helmet scene at the end.
the show does not, the show thinks they can humanize the spartan by making him cry and and scream and lose his shit - reducing the impact or value any overt emotion could ever have

master chief is either in combat or on ice (in his armor). spartans were living weapons, they didn't have a life.

Executives think Halo is like Mario with a large cast of characters that can be easily applied to many situations. It isn't. Halo is a finished story with a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end.

I’ve been away from the series for a long time. Did they actually end-end it, or is it just another loose plothole/cliffhanger “end”?

No. It hasn't had anything resembling a meaningful conclusion since Halo 3. It just keeps going and gets less coherent each time.

    >The Fall of Reach is reduced to only showing a city being destroyed and the actual glassing of the planet is shown off-screen

The fall of reach happened because one relay station went offline and the navy didn’t bother to check it properly
      Also
Somehow thousands of alien troops land from massive Star ships that have to use magic slip space to travel through that can be detected by other ships and space stations but for whatever reason they just… didn’t
Such a contrived and shitty show
Fall of reach was a few small covenant elements on the ground
Then a full scale space invasion once those were discovered
Which led to protracted fighting before finally the covenant said frick it and glassed the planet

aliens is a shit movie. halo taking its assets only helped it stand itself apart from that mindless piece of shit embarrassment of a sequel to a legitimate masterpiece like ridley scott’s alien.

Seethe harder troony. Halo stole from Cameron and say what you will about the H-1B but at least they are not as spineless as to parade their thievery for Hollywood to see.

      yeah what the frick
i expected this season to be about the fall of reach but it was clear that this wasn't the case the moment we got the previous episode with the absolutely bungled fight choreo and deaths
i would've never said this before but i'm actually appreciating the animated fall of reach trash movie and i truly cry for nylund who wrote some kino books only to be denied on film

You should have known that wasn't going to happen when they advertised the fall of reach for this season. How many times can they fool you with the same trick? They already advertised the first season as being a show set in the Halo universe...

      hope like spartans never dies
but at this point it is more of a comedy to see how far they can stray from the lore while injecting their own terrible writing and ideas
mind you half of all trek, gate and wars content sucks too, but the other half makes up for it. so far this show had zero redeeming moments

No one that worked on the show ever played the games, and they didn't care to even try them out or look into them before hand and just wanted to make their own thing. The actor just wants to keep showing his face so he can promote himself.
