serious question, how in the holy frick did you see the OP image, remember this strip out of thousands, and manage to find it so you could post it here?
A few years ago, I was in a program for young adults with learning disabilities or on the spectrum. One of the receptionists they had was a cartoonist working there as his day job, without whose recommendation I may have never read such great works as Cerebus the Aardvark or Shanower's Age of Bronze. More than almost anything else though, what I'll always remember about my interactions with him, was his seething hatred of Jim Davis, who was to him the biggest sellout in all of comics.
Where's the joke?
Cat does funny dance and that's something cats don't normally do? Idk
He's dancing
Cats Don’t Dance® and yet Garfield is dancing how delightfully absurd
Garfield hasn't done "jokes" in nearly a decade.
It's his birthday, give Jim's intern a break
The joke is you've been reading this comic your entire life.
Jim Davis laughing all the way to the bank for 45 years
You're all a bunch of philistines
The actual joke is that he's cheerful because he doesn't know his birthday is on a Monday yet
>middle panel
>orange pieces of Garfield are falling off
That's hair. Have you never had a cat before?
There are hairs but also orange pebbles or flakes.
The only thing worth celebrating on June 19th.
Oh, he really hates Monday today!
Oh, so this Junteenth thing is celebrating Garfield's birthday?
God, I want to frick Nermal! <3<3<3
And Happy Birthday, Garfield!
happy birthday Garfield
Happy birthday, you miserable fat FRICK. Love ya. God bless Jim.
happy garfday birthfield
>Cat dancing
Yo is that real?!
Only 5 more years until the golden anniversary. Will Jim Davis live that long?
Amazing character development.

I remembered the lasagnacat video.

>biggest sellout in all of comics.
I mean he never once pretended to be anything else.
This, Garfield is just a repackaged version of his Gnorm the Gnat so that it appealed to a broader audience.
Anon, Bill is the only one who didn't. The whole industry is built on it.
There's literally nothing wrong with being a sellout.
This, just get popular off your second-favorite idea, sell-out, then use the savings to make your dream with 100% creative control.
>tfw i'm a year older than Garfield
Damn.
Does Lyman gets a piece of cake as well, anon?
Happy birthday, Garfield!
One of the best Halloween specials ever and don't try to convince me otherwise.
actually scared the shit out of me as a kid
