Personally, I don't know the man and can't speak about his actual life. But his writing is kinda shit and I honestly wonder how well he's selling when he's not propped up by A-List characters and the best artists the company hires.
And I don't care if it was supposed to be a "tribute", I still think it's fricked up that he used McDuffie's name to get brownie points for his OC.
Bendis? A Happy Birthday? Wish Bendis a Happy Birthday? Happy Birthday Bendis.
Oh right, the birthday. The birthday of Bendis. The birthday especially celebrating Bendis, Bendis's birthday... that birthday?
Apparently he's a shitty writer but Cinemaphile never tells me why.
He doesn't know how to end his own works.
That's the most surefire critique I can give to him. Outside of that most people consider his dialogue to be dragged out.
They never tell you why?
All characters have the same speech pattern
Bendis-speak
Decompression
Doesn't really care a character's past history, will write them to fit the roles he needs
Makes extremely obvious which character he fricking hates
Has been known to ignore and sneak around editors
Here's my piece of advice: If it's your first exposure to a character then there's a chance you'll like how Bendis writes them. If it's not, you'll probably hate it.
What I've noticed reading Ultimate Spider-Man is how boring all his villains are. It's something that stuck out to me even in the honeymoon period of "this is my first superhero comic, wow". It's one thing to reimagine classic Spider-Man villains and another to make them so dull and forgettable.
Ultimate Spider-Man pre-Ultimatum is still the single best thing the only good thing he's ever done which is really not saying all that much, but that's what it is.
He's got very good works, good works, bad works, and excruciating works. That he became a mega meme here of unredeemable awfulness has always been corny, same as Slott. Just an easy way to fit in.
I want you to reread USM.
>He's got very good works, good works
Nope.
Absolutely insufferable dialogue
He's good
Bendis? The writer?
What happened to him after 2017? I know he ended up writing Superman and signing exclusively to DC, but I never heard of him again after that
Let's write him a letter, one character at a time.
Dear Bendis,

"WILL Benis is coming?"

Benis is coming
don't give me that shit meme that his daredevil was good
I'm willing to bet it's gonna be a rerun of the "Alias is totally good, guys" episode.
God, what a piece of shit book I was tricked into reading.
Bendis? As in Brian Michael Bendis? The comic book writer? It's his birthday? Really?
He will forever be a cancerous homosexual for creating and trying to force Miles
