Statistics show the black community largely abandoned Kwanzaa because it was only the black separatist movement that celebrated, by the 90s, you celebrated if you had a parent or grandparent in that movement, however by the end of the 90s, a lot of people who did celebrate saw it as becoming pointlessly commercialized. So it pretty much just died out and is kept around by those who still celebrate as a borderline novelty holiday

Sesame Street has always had "Black" (African American) characters. Sesame Street's target demographic was children who lived in the inner city. And when they would want to talk about other cultures, they would air a segment in between the main street plot, but that's gone since the show moved to a half-hour; hence the introduction of Chinese, Filipino and Lebanese Muppets lately

This is actually a very recent change. The muppets used to be of the 1960's ideal of color blind civil rights, where the muppets really weren't supposed to have race. You use actual humans for any lessons about race. See also, legos.

Every black person I know celebrates Christmas with only recently knowing 1 that is an Muslim. I dont even know what Kwanza is and back when they started teaching this shit they never explained other holidays. Just that israelites play with dredles and have 8 days and Christmas is something everyone knows about Santa and Christ. I have yet to see an explanation on yakwanza forever.
