Hard Sci-Fi?

Let's gather some recommendations for hard or hard-leaning sf Cinemaphile media and discuss them. If this thread is successful, it might get turned into a general.

Here's a quick classification of what counts as hard or soft sci-fi: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/SlidingScale/MohsScaleOfScienceFictionHardness but will consider making a pastebin document if this becomes a general.

Better than anything recommended in this thread.

It's worse than most of the shit recommended in this thread. That's why I singled it out.

No, I'm the one who suggested the hard sf Cinemaphile general in the last thread, and that anon is probably against it for some reason

Here are some recs from the last thread:

    Animation:
    >Pantheon

    Comics:
    >Arca
    >Sky Doll
    >The Expanse
    >Dirty Pair

Not gonna read ARCA, too steamy for me.

I picked up a random issue of the Expanse comic thinking my knowledge of the show would ben enough to clue me in, and I was completely lost. I want to give Dragon's Tooth a shot some time, though.

So this means you basically gotta watch the whole show before reading the comics? Guess that's one show added to my watchlist

read the books instead, only watch space battles s4-6 (amazon)

Anybody read Mare Interum? I've been meaning to read it since it finished, but never got around to it.

The art doesn't look appealing to me, but the story may make up for it

Shangri-la by Mathieu Bablet is the closest recent hardish scifi I can think of. Others from my shortlist:
Ion Mud by Amaury Bundgen, picrel
      Worlds of Aldebaran
      Mare Internum
Cold Sun - more post apoc with slightly futuristic tech
      Sky Doll

I liked the different take on alien forms/symbiosis but the ending felt too rushed.

Especially since it's a rec thread. You guys don't want discussion, you want to be spoonfed.

there is no Hard Sci-Fi in funny books

        This sad fact doesn't help.

If you want old school hard-ish scifi comics, go for Jeff Hawke.

A lot of the very early scifi ideas can be found in them, those comics were the popular publications of things they wrote in literature, like ideas of Isaac Asimov and such.

I wouldn't call JD hard sci-fi. If we are at that, everything posted here is too soft for me (not like it's a bad thing). But with Dredd yeah, it's more of a adventure comics than it is sci-fi.
