Say what you want about zoomers (and most of it, admittadly would be true) but nobody is more depressing to be around than millenials. It's no wonder the Alpha generation are fricked if these are the saddos expected to bring them up. The last normal, grounded generation were Gen X and that's fricking sad.

Yeah the generation that grew up during WWI, WWII, and the threat of nuclear Holocaust during the Cold war had it way easier. Maybe the easiest was the people growing up during the Carter admin since they had the pleasure of experiencing stagflation and gasoline rationing.

20 an hour is like 34,000 after taxes. You'd have to have rent at piddly ass 800 to reach the 30% ideal while anywhere I look seems to be 1000-1200 on average. Seems like most places that aren't in the boonies are now going the NYC/California style "50% of your income is just on rent and utilities".

Doja cat posted on Cinemaphile growing up, Shatner himself was on this board. It's not some secret club but at the same time the claims of uberchads gloating always rings hollow for the reasons mentioned. It's the syntax and the nature of the 'bragging'. A comparison I'd make is how /k/ had some legit nuclear scientist on the board awhile ago who'd give very sober, well researched answers until someone pseudo-doxed him. But if you had some Black person come along going navy-seal-copypasta about how they're a nuke expert it'd be derided as bullshit.

              The process almost always goes

              >Extraordinary ubergigachad claim made in light of others being anxious and FOMO or FUD on something - clear blackpilling attempt.
              >"So what do you do for a living? Who do you work for? What did you study? How did you get this job?" - desire to test the person.
              >Opaque answer or mealy mouthed diversion with claims of not wanting to dox themselves, pretending to be too cool to confirm their answer to a bunch of plebs - they won't even try 5 seconds of research for a BS answer showing how weak the bait is.

              It won't be
              >Some topic relating to a high salaried STEM job like the accuracy of medicine in shows vs reality or an organic conversation that leads to boating and someone mentioning their yachting experience in a storm in a positive way to participate in the conversation or the professional basketballer mentioning learning how his teammate lebron has a waifu or something.

It'll ALWAYS be a blackpilling to try and drag down FOMO-FUD-ers. So it's as clear BS as navy seal copypasta.

I'm a WFH data scientist in the transportation industry and I make high five figures or low six figures depending on annual bonus. 1.5 YOE

if you couldn't afford college that really sucks and I emphasize with you. your options are either going military to afford education or getting a shitty job.

But if you could afford college somehow or did the military thing you have zero excuse for being a millenial loser who studied something like communications or film

Chemistry is also a useless degree. So is petroleum engineering depending on what the oil market looks like 4 years after you chose a major. When I started college, actuarial studies was hot shit - 4 years later, huge glut of applicants, insanely competitive, job kind of sucks ass now. It's a gamble no matter what you major in. Your best bet is to go with something general like math or CS and then just network until someone gives you a job.

find a remote job, doesn't matter where the frick you are. if it's salary plus commission, get to a point where your commission is comfortably passive and you're set. as long as your boss isn't a micromanager, you're set

          Anonymous

Oh yeah, I'm doing a remote job for $20. Or well, it's kind of a part time remote job but it's made me hooked to the principle of it. No commute, no office bullshit, as someone escaping neetdom (slowly) it's been a godsend especially as I had been doing a piddly ass 14 an hour remote job prior to it. I know that managers are screeching and trying to put the genie back in the bottle, but there's no stopping it being a component of the job scene. It won't replace everything but the new ventures starting up are the ones who will have to deal with it as a fact of life while the old dinosaurs try and cling to the past.

Still, this is so entry level I'm not confident in it for long-term so I am needing to see what kinds of skillsets/certifications lend themselves to remote work.

I believe it honestly, there is a solid 5% of people that get paid lots of money to do pretty much nothing, especially if you're a pretty girl or minority. Look at those tiktoks of the girls in law firms

I can buy it in theory but it's the practice of it where I am suspicious. Since as others touched on the kind of gloating that goes on Cinemaphile is beyond just confirmation bias. Rather it reeks of trying to demoralize people like a sincere version of the satirical OG virgin vs chad meme. There's a huge difference between the anon going
          >yeah it's nuts lmao I worry I'll get found out eventually but I barely do any work and make [above average sum]
          versus the satirical take

is poking fun at where it's like a 13 year old rattling off nonstop how cool they are. "yeah man I have a Japanese-Swedish wife with F cups breasts and a yacht and I have three homes and I make 200 thousand a year farting on a dog and 12 buggatis and and and and"

I'd need at least $30-40k down to have a shot at buying a shitty house in a shitty part of the city I live in, and my mortgage would still cost as much as my rent. Shit's fricked

All depression is by definition situational. All depressed people exist in situations that could have been/could be different.
And the idea that depression is genetically predetermined is ludicrous. If that were the case, it would've been selected out of the gene pool thousands of years ago. It's clearly maladaptive.

I’m incapable of feeling this way, manager moans about something well then “oh okay that’s your opinion” then move on, your parents are getting shouty at you “well I’m glad you said what you needed, you’re just angry let it out” then move on, your partner dumps you “oh well we must find someone else then okay yes” then move on easy you must be less gay about things

Because I think about 64% of Americans are in debt and of those 64% I think 37-48% live paycheck to paycheck so given that average you have a lot of people who are stressed about the possibility of losing everything with a job loss or a medical emergency etc etc
Not only that but covid has basically shown people that America itself is not the patron saint of freedom and hope it once was and is now a plutocracy in service to the elites that have controlled it since they killed Kennedy even the most recent presidents have shown you they have no power over the corporate world or any power in general over the federal reserve which is the REAL ruler of America. It's over for this country and those that are able to just do what you're prescribing are kinda stuck in their own perpetual doom loop and all it takes is one singular frick up and they'll be on the 6o clock news getting gunned down for shooting up a Walmart or school.

Only options were become enslaved by debt from school, be himeless or live with parents like a neckbeard for who knows how long, or become a zogbot.

granted i havent finished the series, but
    >doomerism
    not at all, anon.
the show is entirely a representation of the heart of chicagoans and the 'frick you, watch this' culture of the city. truthfully it wouldn't surprise me if the writer/creator got booted out from some israelite york agency.
the entire point is that the Second City native takes the rest of the world's thing, and does it perfectly, second to none. you have to watch the show through a lens of aj liebling and carl sandburg.
think about the story mikey is telling about denis savard and chris chelios, and what the statue of ceres actually symbolizes.
they took what the world had given them, and done it better in spite of them.
you could also watch it through a more silicon valley or office space lens of the puzzle piece falling perfectly into place. the right environment to thrive and perfect the craft.
    or the
    >i have eight different bosses, bob!
oversight or worthlessness of existing, outdated/inefficient/ineffective systems, the "delicate ecosystem" that richie b***hes about but doesn't actually comprehend in any way. how it isn't just a white-collar, office-space work environment issue, it happens with shitty restaurants, mob families, friendships, etc.
it's a good show, makes me reflect on things like Lodge 49.

There's hints of doomerism and self-destructiveness but only really with Carmy's character and his family. Part of what makes him a great chef though is blocking all that shit out and barreling right through it though.

The show overall depicts an entirely different world though. It both shows that theres always another shoe thats going to drop as well as there always being a light at the end of the tunnel. Richie's entire character arc in S2 is about how he found his purpose in a world where he felt ancillary. Everybody in the second season goes through this to an extent as well, even Carmy. The introduction to Claire shows us a person who's also in a mentally draining and demanding job, but she is still able to see through the bullshit and effortlessly help those around her. To call this show an accurate depiction of "millenial doomerism and self-destructive bullshit" would be an incredibly shallow critique to put it lightly. I assume you only used this glib description to lure in people who want to post off-topic though so have at it.

zoomers have it better than millenials. basic labor is $20/hr in the middle of indiana. i went to school to be an xray tech and the pay was $18/hr in fricking chicago with a much higher cost of living

Zoomers are still young enough to live with their parents and have actual flexibility on where they want to work.

Zoomer here. Why are Millennials so cringe? You are like the worst generation and everyone thinks this. You guys are the pod-dwelling bug eaters who take selfies with nintendo consoles and then whine on reddit because you got evicted and couldn't bring all of your funko pops with you. When will you people grow up and breed? You're like 38.

Something's off about his phenotype. I don't know what it is, but until I do I won't be able to hate on him accurately.
      >inb4 da joo
Swarthy mixes can come out looking israeli without actually being israeli.
His character probably deserves it, but maybe not the guy himself. I'm pretty normal the last time I checked up on him.
