It's the same in the sense that it's about a middle-aged woman with no life and an erotic fixation on a man, but other than that it's not the same, since it's a real story (people have tracked down the woman it is based on)

It's well made, and well acted.
It's difficult to believe that it isn't largely falsehood, exaggeration, or different circumstances to things that happened to him in real life because he has gone on and on about how he has changed 'enough' to make people can't track down the real people involved.
It's not that things like this don't happen irl, it's just I don't trust the writer(the guy it happened to) to be at all honest, when by his own admission the story has been significantly changed.
I'd like to say that I am surprised that the reaction hasn't been negative because the show does a lot of victim blaming, but it's a man who is the victim and the person who calls him out is trans, so media outlets are less likely to call it on it's bullshit.
