I tried watching this and stopped early on in season 5, the quality just dipped so low. It's a shame because I really enjoyed seasons 1-3, but they really dropped the ball with season 4 and it killed my interest.
>Show really died with Jimmy
Gyp carried season 3 hard and his antics made that one enjoyable for me.
>violent unhinged italian mobster who doesn't like to take orders or instructions >gets talked down to and joked about by mother on sunday dinner
accurate
It has some lame padding like the dyke subplot and whatnot but I feel like this show just is very forgettable. Not much of it is kino beyond Jimmy. By all accounts, it should have been kino but it just isn't and got memoryholed.
Yeah I feel the same way. I can't quite put my finger on it. It's a pretty good show, but there is something about it that just doesn't make it that kino. And I've rewatched it 3 times.
It's Buscemi as main character. Always has been but for some reason people won't admit it. He has no lead energy, he's at most a cool and memorable side character. The MC of a show is it's life or death. You know it's true, he just doesn't make you want to watch and his face is all over the promo material.
I think people just don't like old shows. Deadwood was great as well but it doesn't get mentioned either. Sopranos however continues to get mentioned. I think modern or future shows just attract more people
>I think people just don't like old shows.
If by that you mean shows that are set in the past, that's incorrect. Rome gets threads almost every day on here. Fewer anons have seen Boardwalk Empire and Deadwood however, so there aren't as many threads about them.
>that's incorrect
Idk about previous audiences but it's absolutely true today. Other than Victorian era dramas.

Sorry, in case it wasn't obvious I was talking about series. Movies can work but series don't. There are a lot of variables of course and most movies set in older periods try to maximise their audience by getting big name actors and or directors.
pretty good as supporting cast
but never made me care
same with steve buscemi
michael pitt was the only leading man caliber actor capable of carrying a show
michael shannon arguably too but his character was the antagonist
I watched the whole thing episode by episode on a phone screen each evening in my barracks' bunk bed with a candy bag beside me. It was very good in my opinion. I was very depressed at the time, since my girlfriend had left me during the most difficult time of training, so I spent my free time each evening lifting weights, running, and then watching Boardwalk Empire before going to sleep. Best time of my life.
the van alden plot is about the only thing i actually liked about the show after s3. im surprised michael shannon hasn't done more comedy roles because holy shit he is fricking hilarious
Literally can't remember how it even ended. Good first couple of seasons though
Nuck gets capped. How do you not remember that? Can't remember frick all about what happens to everyone else tho
I watched this whole series waiting for the moment that Buscemi gets fricked in the ass, only to find out it's from a random film.
Yeah, not great. Show really died with Jimmy and the writing never got good enough as the Sopranos and the Wire to make it a classic.

rewatched? no
its kind of long. but i enjoyed my first watch so thats good enough for me.
The dance scene was literally the only time in the show this chick was hot, such a disappointment.
yes on 3rd or 4th rewatch. 5th season is fine but a bit of slog
>another character is shout through the cheek
thet really liked that for some reason
good morning sir
*shot
frick
someone post it
you telepathic or something i been rewatching this aswell
Watch up to season 2 finale then skip all the scenes without my boy Richard and you have a pretty comfy experience
This actor did such a great job. Him and Michael Shannon were the reasons to keep watching.

i actually just got done rewatching it. it goes to shit after s3. not much worth watching after s3 because its all so rushed
Yeah cause they knew they were getting cancelled lmao
I think Terrence Winter just stopped giving a frick and (wrongly) thought Vinyl was going to be a big hit.
