has the reception of a movie or show ever given you existential dread? before this show, the answer would be no for me.. but I'm legit terrified of people liking this movie. It's like if suddenly the supermarket started stocking feces for consumption, and everyone was loving it and asking for more of it. I don't like eating feces, what will be left for me in this world where people love genuine shit? what if the other options disappear and I have to eat the shit too just to stay alive?

these are the last throes of a demonic obsolete corrupt industry on its way to the electric chair, ai will solve your problem.
this show was extremely well received (despite being about the same as dragon ball evolution in terms of adaptation quality)
dogs eat dog food
The difference is the public, this show is aimed at normies, the DB adaptation was primarily panned by anime fans, back when Evolution launched normies didn't watch stuff inspired on anime unless it was a westernized ripoff like The Matrix or Firefly.
take your meds
Nobody likes this show dude. No reason to worry about things that aren't going to happen
Honestly, the past ten years or so have made me feel like that. It feels like everyone else is in on a joke that I'm not in on, or they all collectively went insane, and I don't like it.
Normies dont give a frick about this show. I haven't heard of a single person who didn't already watch One Piece/general anime or video game nerds talk about it at all. It's not like Wednesday or Game of Thrones, its not a hot topic among anyone outside of the exact bubble that you'd expect.
you're simply wrong. even the parents of my peers watch this show, it had an enormous budget despite every scene looking like a small indoors paper mache set with some greenscreen behind it, yet they had no trouble launching season 2 immediately.
>At the grocery store
>Wife and I are checking out
>Cashier is a nice old lady
>"You two have any plans?"
>Wife and I say probably just going to chill at home and watch TV, need a new show
>"Oh! Watch One Piece! It's delightful!"
This was last week. Still haven't watched it, but people I wouldn't peg for anime fans have mentioned it to me.
If worst comes to worst, there is enough media from the past that you could spend your life just consuming that without ever having to watch anything new if you wanted
My normie GF watched this without having heard of the anime.
She liked it a lot actually.
Yep, same emotions. Luckily, I've already lived a good chunk of my life, so I can peacefully die in the next decade or two. Young people are welcome to live in the cursed world they have created and all that.
Reminder: don't watch Netflixs adaptation, they're woke trash who hate fanservice and don't have the balls to sexualize female characters, theyll censor every Nami outfit, theyll censor every Robin outfit, theyll remove any and all lewd fanservice scenes, don't support woke trash or theyll keep making trash without female nudity nor female lewdness
I can't rightly say I give a shit, I just think they botch the pacing and every single character without any good tradeoff elsewhere to show for it. it being "woke" doesn't even factor in the face of it being a genuine terrible show
why does he smile like that? he just looks fricking menacing, but that's clearly not the intent, so why didn't the director tell him to cut it out?
Idk what oda was thinking with luffy's casting. He is obviously enthusiastic and loves the manga but he does not fit at all. The rest of the casting is actually pretty good though, with a few exceptions
it's not like oda directed or casted he just had oversight and veto, but I'm pretty sure his involvement is heavily heavily overstated for marketing
The actor said oda personally chose him and he asked oda why. He said because his audition made oda laugh.
the show is good
now watching the anime, seemed to do it justice
It fricks everything up. it feels more like a bad Smallville than One Piece
Imagime getting skull and shoulder mogged by a woman
My normie wife liked the Netflix show so much she started watching the anime, it’s weird as shit she’s never watched anime before.
I feel bad for someone having to be married to such a freak
I felt kind of like that for the force awakens and it happened so I don't really give a frick anymore. People are fricking moronic shit eaters.
You're just so used to action movies and shows being realistic and full of smarmy humor that one that's sincerely goofy and whimsical feels off to you. But for people who are fed up with 10's style blockbuster film making it's a breath of fresh air.
The same way the stench of a rotting corpse in July is refreshing after crawling face down through a Nigerian open sewer system
that's literally what it is you moron. it felt like they were tryong to do another netflix marvel show
This is just the sort of shit non-whites like and as the israelites pour more of them into our countries this style of filmmaking will only get more popular.
tough but fair
it's slop but compared to most slop being made, and especially in the adventure genre with a male lead, its high quality slop. Good casting choice for the mc as well. He plays the whole confident but endearing hero character well
>scene of luffy hide the pain smiling at the audience because something happened the manga fans thought memorable
