It’s better than Krapopolis, but that’s not saying much. Crazy to think this is now the 6th attempt in under 5 years to find a new Animation Domination hit, but they all suck except maybe Duncanville.
yes! I can't believe how much it doesn't suck. The humor is actually good, and... sort of unique? at least, still fresh. that rapidfire and half-surreal approach reminds me a little of The Critic. Alan Tudyk is a great voiceover guy.
Krapopolis is also surprisingly excellent. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but so far.. naw, it's good.
of course both of them will be canceled.
>Alan Tudyk is a great voiceover guy.
the man's had over 20 years of voice acting experience now and was always a character actor so it makes sense he'd be good at it. his range is really insanely good.
Grimsburg is yet another live-action pitch that turned into a cartoon at the height of the pandemic, so that explains the uninspired art style; its creators didn't set out to make a cartoon. It's decently enjoyable, though.
Oh, I feel the same way. I find it stupid that Bento Box seems incapable of branching out to more interesting art styles, and it's even dumber that FOX gravitates toward that studio for EVERY one of their new cartoons. Gone are the days of Rough Draft being Hollywood's go-to for adult animation.
I'm conflicted with the overall look of Grimsburg because while I love the background art and the way the characters are animated, I'll catch a character design every other scene that pisses me off and reminds me that I'm forcing myself to enjoy the show DESPITE Bento Box being attached. These two characters in picrel bother me the most design-wise. I get the chief is a sasquatch or whatever, but she isn't funny enough to warrant looking like that. And the Rosie Perez cop represents everything I hate about western adult animation design trends. In a more appealing art style, she'd look amazing.
It is probably Fox's best attempt since Bob's Burgers. But still that ain't saying much. It's a decent show that makes me laugh, I feel like it could be better. Last night's episode wasn't every well written. But some are better. I guess we'll see if it stays.
I really feel like the Kid drags it down because I've seen soooo many "did i make you proud, dad?/man, I can't relate to my kid/boy, I sure do love my absent neglectful father."
I like how his eyes are drawn. in a sea of boring pingpong ball eyes, lemme see those nice shapes.
anyway he's clearly a parody of that cliche. and his cape is adorable.
It's decent enough to get some laughs out of me. It's so much funnier when it's focusing on the precinct and procedural cliches than Flute's stilted family drama.
This. It's too much "awkward humor" in a sea of absurdist humor that just drags the whole show down.
>is fricking the town mayor
Was this revealed before? Did I forget something?
No, they just gave her that sideplot so she had something to do.
pre-movie bob's, or post-movie bob's? because pre-movie bob's is a fricking masterpiece... well, the first six seasons. the next six are like the last six of king of the hill. still fine. riiiight up to that last episode.. no sir.
(OP)
I gave it a try. I'm tired of it.
The "humor" doesn't come from the story or premise or personalities, but wisecracks overlaid on top of the show regardless of timing or relevance. If you ignore the voice and the verbiage, nearly every character has the attitude of a catty homosexual hair stylist or a wine aunt.
Jon Hamm is doing his best impression of Will Arnett, which makes no sense because Arnett is willing to take any voice role for a sandwich. That is, until you realize Jon Hamm is the producer of this show. This whole "every B-list actor gets their own animated sitcom" shit at Fox has got to stop.

why do these things always look the same?

So? It could still have a good art style, just hire someone who cares ffs

"Adult" animation consists of copying Family Guys art direction. And the rest of the show.
Because it's a Fox cartoon?
>why do these things always look the same?
Bento Box makes them all.
Makes me laugh a Hell of alot more than the Bob/Great North hour.
It's alright.

What I hope from onward after that episode that they don't revisit their dynamic.
At least not in the same way. Flute has come around on the cyborg.
They already renewed it for season 2 before t premiered.
catchy theme song

I watched one episode. It was like, three nose-laughs and two real laughs.
I would rate it slightly under Bob's Burgers.

Looks like another Brickle Berry Paradise PD/Family Guy clone. Pass.
it really isn't. but yeah, it does look like one.

Cute kid, too bad he hallucinates a skeleton because his parents are Schlubby Will Graham and Fem-Mogli Lois Lane.
I hope the time-displaced lawyer sticks around.
I think I'm warming up to Summers
What's with those legs
Whatever happened to Duncanville? I liked that one.
Cancelled to make room. Although moving it to Monday nights couldn't have helped ratings wise...
