I actually had a homosexual male cut me off after he brought up Avatar when I wanted to complain about the giant mecha and say, "Got it, you hate Korra because she's gay and a woman." I thought those kinds of things were just internet shitposts. I didn't know actual human beings were so... reductive.
Why was Korra, the Avatar who loves a fight and could figure out on her own to bend 3 elements as a toddler and had a decade of training, such a shitty fighter compared to 12 year old Aang who had <1 year of knowing he was Avatar?
In many ways both shows are like their respective protagonists, Aang and Last air bender came out out of nowhere and despite the difficulties become great. Korra and LoK had everything served on a silver platter and managed to frick it up for everyone.
The problem with Korra being a lesbian was that it wasn't earned l, just something tacked on at the end.
Korra being a fighter but still losing most fights was fricking dumb. Almost all her villains beat her 1v1. The only one with a brain was the air bender that poisoned her first.
I get that the show was about an out of date deity figure trying to find it's place in a new world. But Korea grew up in this world, Anng had no problem and he was 100years out of place.
Korra makes no god damn sense when placed next to Anng and what that series did to define the world.
