Have you ever read a Cinemaphile post that you liked so much, you saved? An opinion or a summary that made you go, "Yes, that's exactly how I feel" or, "I agree with this 100%". If you do, post 'em.
Here is one about Star Vs. after the finale.

Here is another about Helluva Boss.
I found this
This guy should unironically post this on reddit, people will support him and encourage him to come out as gay
heres another one about the best character in helluva boss
and the reply to it
>watches western yaoi (the 1st and only in the history, so far)
>"wtf why is this gaygay protagonist emasculated?!"
The stupidity, it hurts.
if this eastern yaoi is as shit as this then the whole genre is fricking shit
moxxie, the man in a straight relationship, was totally emasculated, not even to elevate the wife, just in a way that made everyone feel sorry for her as the most underdeveloped, peripheral character who gets the shit luck of having to constantly cheerlead an insecure manchild
chaz is a skinny, annoying bisexual twink just like blitz, but he's at least annoying in a funny way, and not in a "these writers are unfunny fricking hacks" way
Moxxie's role is to be the Curly to Blitzo's Shemp.
This is basic comedy. Sorry you cant stop thinking about gays and their gay wieners.
>Curly to Blitzo's Shemp
I have no idea what you're talking about.
>haha I totally hate this character isn't he so cool though
Women are way more into sappy romance shit than episodic action shit like men are
This show is pretty much not for you or for anyone here, it's for AO3 shipping fanfic writers
But the perfect blend of both will attract both audiences. It's how a lot of anime functions, after all.
A lot of anime is also heavily geared towards a specific male or female audience. If anything it's much more common for Western media to deny the niche audiences and try to have as much universal appeal as possible.
To add to this, the only reason people here started watching HB in the first place is because Americans are not used to something not being just "for everyone" and having a specific niche target audience. It's the same reason Twilight was lambasted back in the day because nobody realized or could articulate it was specifically for teenage girls and no one else.
>Viv actually got mad enough about a repost of this that she hopped on twitter to rant about how 'hating fanfiction is homophobic' a few days ago
lmao real?
Real.
And this is why Vivzie Blart and all of her works deserve to burn for an eternity
It's a gay show. Why is this really a surprise? I'm not trying to watch the show myself or anything, on account of it's clearly an exotic lgbt romance outside of my purview, so whats the problem with you guys?
Honestly, while it is a gay show, I respect that it exists but don’t respect the fact it promotes the gay agenda so thoroughly. Even the main couple is bi, how do you do that?
It's the same as anything, you've got a spectrum of shit you care about vs a spectrum of shit you find annoying, it's your job to figure out if it's your thing. You can take the good with the bad, or you can do something else, it's really not that complicated.
I guess it isn’t. I like seeing it torn apart by the chans. I like making fun of Vivzie Blart too.
I agree with her not because I think fanfic writing is good but because people should be more descriptive with their criticisms and delve into why fanfic writing is bad, then perhaps Vivzie would feel some shame at what she has wrought.
What if she and other people are actually here for gay romance
She should stop fetishizing the gays like a chud.
Yeah well you know fujoshi
How does anyone look at Vivze's work and see anything but a manic gay romp? How the FRICK do you even begin to look at Stolas or whoever and say 'oh it's an interesting owl!' without thinking 'holy frick check out all this gay art'. I mean come on. Are you naive or coy
Last one I have about cartoon expressions.
I think she’s stressing the frick out about how they’ve never been apart, which is kinda creepy in retrospect even if they’re an inseparable couple.
is the :T face even meant to be funny? it feels like the default at this point.
Anyway I don't think this is an issue of animators not knowing how to draw but rather studios wanting to cut costs and save time on drawing expressions.
That face feels like something people took from anime but it’s merged into western animation so much, they don’t even realize it. I don’t think I ever puff my cheeks like that unless I hold my breath or something.
Cartoons are not supposed to depict real-life expressions.
Cartoons are meant to depict over-exaggerated real expressions. That's why they work, you can recognize what the expression is about. Anyway this
is exaggerated pouting.
And you can recognize the other expression as pouting too, so this argument is disingenuous.
I wasn't the earlier anon, but I don't think you get it. If you depict your character as pouting, your goal is to show annoyance Are the characters in
annoyed? Only one
looks like it. So the expression in most of the cases has frick all to do with the emotional state of the character.
Emotons can be diverse. It doesn't always have to signify annoyance, in these examples it also shows confusion or concentration
Well, does it? When you see a pout, does "confusion or concentration" come to your mind? The point is that the expression doesn't help in helping you make out the emotion. For me it just looks pretty random in all of these cases, a default state basically.
In anime puffing up the cheeks is a childish, girlish expression of anger. It's often ironic (she's much too old to be acting like that; how silly and funny [even kids' shows like Ojamajo Doremi do this joke]) or occasionally straightforward like in that pic; Hina Ichigo is mentally about five or six years old.
Even if it was blindly copied from a misinterpreted anime face, it also looks a lot like Jim face/"the white people smile" which is an actual and fitting generic facial expression.
amazing how much the faces improve
>reddit spacing
Imagine spewing this self-righteous Reddit spaced whinery and not knowing the Hobbit was written before Lord of the Ring. Aye LMAO only on Cinemaphile!
Where does he say it was written after?
Eh he's using "prequel" to mean "story that preceded", not a pre-sequel. And Tolkein did write the languages first, he was actually that autistic
Disagree hard with this guy. LotR is great but one of the few wrong lessons so much of fantasy fiction got from it was the need to bloat settings with so much meaningless lore.
LotR is great because the core story, journey and characters are great. The absurd amount of lore and backstory is the cherry ontop if you really want to get autistic over stuff and one I've always been indiffrent towards.
Look at this scene.
Easily one of the best abd heartwarming moments in cinema. Does speaking a whole ass fake language or knowing ethe entire history of the f Dúnadan people and their bullshit is what makes this scene good.
Frick no. It's the fact experienced the journey with these characters. The fact you know what they all went through and what they mean to each other that gives stories signifiance. The overelaince on lore and detail I geniunly believe is one of the bigest mistakes that writers do that not only make so much of fantasy dull but now modern animation as they try to push this sort of style.
The lore was for tolkien's own benefit to make the narrative consistent. When you add history and politic and legend to a setting you can then reference them to find a natural progression of the story which is more appreciable to the audience as there is now a certain weight to it. Decisions aren't being made arbitrarily just to satisfy the needs of the writer, they also just make sense given the world around them. The issue with modern lore building, like lucas in the prequels, is that he feels the need to show you everything that he worked on. He made it so he wants you to see it when its not necessary and would be better served as a single line of justification. And in cartoons and lots of vidya the 'deepest lore' shit ends up being shallower than it portrays itself and some how universally ties into the most fundamental myths of the setting consistently. There isn't any being a small part of a larger world, a porthole into strange and new, the MC is the SS Mary Sue and the entire world revolves around them and their destiny before any real investment takes place.
>Disagree hard with this guy. LotR is great but one of the few wrong lessons so much of fantasy fiction got from it was the need to bloat settings with so much meaningless lore.
The least important part of LOTR was the fantasy, ya twat
It's an autists 900 page long essay on correct use of English, WW1 experiences and how much he wants to bang his wife.
how hot was his wife?
she was bri'ish
that's all you need to know.
yeah, but so is twiggy
every attractive british woman is secretly half french
She was goth before goth was popular.
The thing about Tolkien and his wife is that they met and fell in love when they were teens, and were separated by their parents through all of the years of their education, until they were independent adults and they got together again.
Through all that time, with no contact, both stayed faithful to each other, yearning for one another.
And you can SEE this in the way Tolkien writes women and romantic relationships in his works.
Important female characters are kinda ethereal and radiant, extremely significant and awe-inspiring when present, but absent and far away most of the time, often acting as a guiding star and motivation for male characters (this is also in part because his mother died when he was very young, so his concept of her was more saintly and transcendental than actually a real person)
In his works, couples are often separated by circumstance, but their love burns bright in each other's absence.
The movies kind of twist this a little, by presenting Arwen's drama about choosing between eternal life and her love for Aragorn, but in the books this is a choice she made years ago. Aragorn and Arwen have been in love for decades upon decades, separated by duty and the state of the world, unwavering.
So in short, Tolkien loved his wife all his life, through the years he couldn't be with her, even through WWI, and he loved her so much that for him the very concept of love included its immutability in the face of absence and distance.
I didn't think that kind of love existed in real life.
A classic. Korra threads could be fun when they weren't about cooming
It's more complicated than that. The world building is done with care and lays a foundation for the rest of the story to be done with care.
This is literally a copypasta specifically to mock this moron as an example of how stupid LOTRgays are
Actually it was made in a Korra thread
unironically correct.
It’s because Hollywood is filled with unironic racists and they projected all of their white hatred unto Chelsea and all of their beloved leftist dogma into the grandma. They can’t write villains because they are villains.
This is fun.
tl;dr you simp for a waifu and don't want to see her as evil
no, it's a bad movie
You’re only half right. I didn’t want to see her as evil because it makes this movie so damn trite. I’m not simping, I’m complaining about the story we got, but it’s the same complaints as everyone else. I’m just pointing out how it might’ve happened .
You liked her for her evil mannerisms in the trailer in the first place, don't deny what she is.
Not him
I expected the movie to subvert the trailer because spoiling the plot so soon is asinine
Instead the movie seemed to be heading that way only to pull the rug and confirm that yes, the trailer did spoil the whole film and just leaves a bitter after taste that validates the most xenophobic character in the film and punishes the protagonist for choosing compassion over prejudice
>compassion over prejudice
Oh frick off, if we were talking about anything else other than the waifu you jerk off to, you wouldn't be compassionate. If they revealed her to be trans, you wouldn't be compassionate.
Anon, Hans' twist reveal pissed me off as well
Chelsea would've been better if she was either
A. Openly and entertainingly evil and not just regulated to be that in the remaining 15 minutes
B. Actually sympathetic and capable of redemption because of her bond with Ruby
Having her be an irredeemable twist villain did damage not only to her as a character but also to the film as a whole because it renders it unmarketable
People complain about spoiling the climax and reveal she's evil but had they not done that they'd essentially set-up a plot of two teenage girls trying to push past their family's generations of conflict....only for audiences to find out peace was never an option and that Ruby's Grandma was right
The film falls apart because if Ruby bought into the kool-aid and never gave Chelsea a chance even after she saved her fricking life and just blindly trusted her grandma that an entire race is evil, the third act would've been avoided entirely
The audience is presented a potential nuanced subversion to what the trailer showed so when the final film double subverts it back it makes the unintended pro-xenophobia message look even more glaring
If Chelsea was a black dude you'd be calling the pro-xenophobia message based.
>Everyone on Cinemaphile must be a /misc/gay
>Admitting the movie has an unintended pro-xenophobia message as well
Adults in modern animated movies are often framed as misguided if not evil, and it's up to the kid protagonists to save the day with their new fresh view on the situation. So it's somewhat refreshing to have a movie where the adults end up being in the right. You can't appreciate it because it meant your FOTM waifu had to be evil, which was obvious to begin with.
>So it's somewhat refreshing to have a movie where the adults end up being in the right.
>You can't be friends with someone because her race is inherently evil
Mate, the movie literally has scenes that make zero sense upon rewatch regarding Chelsea
It's bad twist villain writing 101 where a character isn't lying to another character but rather the audience
Again, if she was upfront evil she'd be great but instead she's a 2010's Disney twist villain
Again, Cinemaphile would praise this if they threw any minority rep other than the newest FOTM waifu under the bus.
And again, not every Cinemaphilemrade is some /misc/ack
Hell, having /misc/'s approval just looks bad on DreamWorks for not noticing how botched the message in this movie is
Cinemaphile complaining about xenophobia? Never thought I'd see the day, crazy what showing some teenage girl skin does to people.
>The villain of this movie is literally what propelled the protagonist to finally accept herself
Yeah yeah and Jafar got Alladin to meet the Genie, let's give him a redemption arc too now.
I can care about any character just fine, I just think it's hypocritical to pretend to be all "love peace and kumbaya" when it's obvious you have a vested interested in that and wouldn't act that way under different circumstances. If you waifu an obviously evil character, it's stupid to complain when she's obviously evil and not the dindu nuffin you headcanoned her as.
I already outlined the circumstances in which it would be praised.
You call that fantasies, I call that the truth. I am absolutely, 100% convinced that I have 5 different people jumping in to defend this mediocre villain from a mediocre movie entirely because you waifu her. Can you imagine 5 people on Cinemaphile jumping to the defense of a black guy, a lesbian or a trannie if the plot of the movie remained the exact same but you replaced Chelsea with them? Can you? Answer this question honestly.
>already outlined the circumstances in which it would be praised.
No, you did not. You only pointed out "they usually do X, so doing Y is refreshing", i.e. doing something for the sake of doing something different.
I didn't even watch the movie, everything I know about it comes from this very thread. I'm just pointing out I see other guys give some arguments, why you entertain your fantasies. I don't even know if these guys are right, but I know you're an obnoxious moron arguing in extremely moronic way.
>Yeah yeah and Jafar got Alladin to meet the Genie, let's give him a redemption arc too now.
Except Jafar isn't a twist villain
The movie doesn't dedicate time showing him bonding with Aladdin or furthering his growth as a person
It also doesn't have an unintended pro-xenophobia theme
>Cinemaphile complaining about xenophobia? Never thought I'd see the day, crazy what showing some teenage girl skin does to people.
Calling it out shitty writing regarding a film's intended message is a staple of Cinemaphile's critique for films
Raya for example is awful at trying to convey its message and themes on trust when problems keep arising over because of trust
>Can you imagine 5 people on Cinemaphile jumping to the defense of a black guy, a lesbian or a trannie
You seem to be confused about what board you're on
Ruby Gillman's movie was like if in the last 15 minutes of How to Train Your Dragon, they revealed that Toothless was pure evil and was manipulating Hiccup the whole time, and he needed to be defeated by Hiccup and his family.
So a better movie?
>other than the newest FOTM waifu
sounds like projection
Sounds like the truth. Are you actually going to deny she's a FOTM waifu?
>Are you actually going to deny she's a FOTM waifu?
God you're dumb I'm obviously talking about your inability to care about characters you don't waifu/simp for.
From the beginning you have no arguments except your own fantasies about what the other side is thinking. You're an obnoxious moron.
There are times the adult is right and should be right
Do your homework, be responsible, don't take candy from suspicious people in vans, don't stray too far from safety, etc
Passing their bigotry onto their offspring and succeeding at it upon its validation isn't one of them
Ruby and Chelsea's bond is a highlight of the film so when Agatha warns her about Chelsea for the sin of simply being born a mermaid, is the audience not supposed to root for Ruby to prove her mother wrong especially given up to that point Chelsea was nothing but kind and supportive to Ruby?
The villain of this movie is literally what propelled the protagonist to finally accept herself
Not her friends
Not her love interest
Not her family
Let that sink in
Doing something different for the sake of doing something different is not something to be praised. It's cheap. Especially if it doesn't make sense in the story.
They could have been in the right for a reason that wasn't moronic.
>If movie was different, you would have different opinion!
Great argument. 10/10.
That's the opposite of what he's saying you moron. He's saying their opinion would be different over extremely superficial shit, even if the same things happened in it.
>he actually believes in the reddit-spacing psyops
from a bigtop burger thread
Anon equates rich people getting insults hurled at them from behind marbled gates and a security team and middle class people paying too much for a night out with poors dying in a ditch or living a life on the outskirts of the law.
The fact that he "enjoys" suffering indicates that he isn't suffering as equally as he claims.
the hollywood hack responsible for that shitty twitter pandering dialogue needs to die in a ditch
oh wait
lol
there is a reason why the best you can do after winning a lottery is to hide the fact that you won
I really hope that poster is underage because damn that's moronic
it was a joke,newbie
Some people really believe they're anime characters in real life.
We live in a society bottom text.
what a fricking idiot
That's really fricking stupid though. It's not even addressing what's being said, it's acting as if the conversation was saying "you're rich and a white male so you don't suffer and I experience suffering because I am not those things". Is it clown world because that response is moronic?
What I love is that this Character only exists for this scene. She does not appear afterwards. so that means that this scene only esiste to get Twitter likes.

Mom get the frick out of Cinemaphile.
I related to this, from a 920london storytime
god fricking damn it this is me. 25 and no real job prospects, romantic prospects, or education beyond high school. It haunts me that if I had just buckled down and went to university I would have had a bachelor's or maybe even a master's by now and that doing so now will take until I'm 30 at best.
Anon, you'll be 30 in 5 years anyway, whther you go to university or not. Better to be headed in good direction by then then just sit around doing nothing.
These are more /LULZ/ than Cinemaphile
I'm not going to deny that LotR is better written than Korra but this is kind of a moronic argument. One writer being more autistic than another doesn't make him better.
I think it does, that autismo attention to detail and creating an entire mythology is better than any info dump
>knowing ethe entire history of the Dúnadan people and their bullshit is what makes this scene good.
Yes? Of course it does, he wrote a damn poem that makes even better
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
I have to hard disagree with you.
Hell think about it Aragon is the remnant of Numenor, literally superhuman beings that live for hundreds of years and his people went mad with that power, And here he is bowing to those who had none of those things yet shouldered the burden to defeat Sauron whereas the Numenors welcomed Sauron into their home.
A lot of people who mostly focus on world building just end up info dumping to show off their world, so it takes more than attention to detail to write a good story.
>Yes? Of course it does, he wrote a damn poem that makes even better
It's like the scene with Galadriel giving Gimli some of her hair.
It's a great scene on its own, this (comparatively) lowly creature who up to this point has shown nothing but disdain for the elves, humbling himself in front of one of the high powers of the world, and said power honoring him in return.
But if you know the story of Feanor and Galadriel (in which Galadriel refuses to give her hair to the highest elf to ever live, who wanted the hair to use it in the creation of the greatest israeliteels in the whole history of the world), you know exactly how monumental the significance of her giving him some of her hair is.
And you can tell that Legolas, who is aware of this, changes his opinion of Gimli entirely when this happens.
In your example and this one, the scenes work on their own, and they're beautiful, but knowing the lore augments them.
Because Tolkien was a a fricking incredible writer.
I relate to this. But I also think we should understand that the glorified reckless adrenaline-driven lifestyle of partying around and finding adventures is not for everyone. I find it very stressful and I probably wouldn't enjoy it, and real-life interesting mistakes are often life-wrecking, like getting a girl pregnant. It still hurts somewhat because this lifestyle still gets glorified a lot because a lot of people are wired for constant excitement and activity, but I've mostly accepted this kind of life is not for me and I should try finding and making small friend groups on my own based on my own interests. The problem is, I suck at doing the latter too.
I'm also there, anon. I'm 26, gonna be 27 sooner rather than later. No use griping about it, really, I'm just trying to go to school now so I can finally do things I'd like and have a real career of some kind. I'm quitting my old job, I've been trying to hang out with the people from my job and form friendships with those whom I can, I'm trying to keep in touch with people. Inertia is hard to break out of for everybody but we must try or we will fricking rot in it.

Never agreed with someone more
No. I've never agreed with anybody in the history of Cinemaphile and I'd be upset if I ever did. I just come here to make fun of autistic people.
2 plus 2 equals 4. Do you disagree with that?
Average murder drones fan
This is the part that puts me off their fandom, how much of it is just blatant coomerism and waifugayging.
To be fair to fans, the show itself is an unapologetically horny piece of media made by an unapologetically horny man, it’s not for everyone but I wouldn’t want it to not exist
You don't have to be part of the coomer and waifugayging parts of a fandom to just enjoy a show, anon. Don't let overindulgent gays sour your opinion on something just because they are the most easily noticeable of the lot. The rest of the discussion around Murder Drones is a lot more tame and centered less on robofricking. Why not just tune it out and enjoy what you like?
Thought I saved this but I didn't and had to go into tbharchive to find it.
And you still saved it in a moronic wide format that basically unreadable

no, you moron, it filters desktop users. mobilegays can pinch and zoom to their heart's fricking content
Only if my monitor is smaller than yours. Also who doesn't shift scroll for size?
Setting aside your botched screengrab, that post is correct. The best aspect of Gravity Falls was the humor. The whole thing started to fall apart right after the author was revealed.
This is all really neat but as someone who's read Kirby and Lee FF it starts to get pretty grating when it gets repeated over and over and over again over the course of dozens of issues
Well okay, but imagine how good a single FF movie could be if they nailed it.
This made a lot more sense in light of pic related

Having Juni remain a one and done character was the biggest wasted potential of the OG series. Apart from just being good, my biggest hope is they actually utilize him more in the sequel series.
Yeah that’s what me and the anon that posted this were talking about in fact.

>anon learns what insults are
I personally only use schizo very very rarely, in response to someone whom I am either in the middle of an argument with when I realize they are fixating on something that noone would ever consider to be that integral to their argument if it were genuinely sane (examples for this escape me because I usually disengage from futher discussion, seeing no chance of either of us being convinced of the other's perspective)
or when I enter a thread and see someone trying to derail it with the same tired complaints that get reposted time and again to the point that it looks like the same guy just spamming the board with his shit opinion whenever the topic comes up (like that homosexual who considers the NUMBER OF EPISODES a TV show has to be a valid metric of measuring one show's superiority over another)
but yeah, it has become another one of those bog-standard insults that loses all meaning because of its overuse in any circumstance.
Most of the time when people say schizo they are insinuating the person is overly paranoid.
This one is for all your general use needs, nice and concise
Hasn't Elon Musk gone scorched earth on Twitter 3 or 4 times now? Why is it still the god of this world? Why is it still the heart of all the lives?
Because he has zero clue if he wants to burn down the freakshow or let it make him money. He also has zero idea about how to run a business that isn't government funded, no matter how many of his dick-slobbers say otherwise.
I just thought the majority of users would quit after their rightfully hated Satan figure seized absolute control. But they're all still there like nothing changed.
Don't underestimate humanity's need for an echo chamber. I mean, you're here right now, aren't you?
There's nowhere else to go because no matter how bad Cinemaphile gets, every other website is worse.
He really hasn't changed much, he just makes dumb little changes that hardly affect anyone who uses it normally and everyone goes "ERMARGARD TWITTER IS DEAD FOR REALZ THIS TIME!" and then continues using it
If he had any sense he'd just pull the plug on the whole thing.
Yiu can tell he wants to do something with it since it's such a cultural phenomena, but he has no idea what, and frankly a lot of what people complain about isn't even his doing. It's like he inherited a busted up crackden that stood for years, and suddenly when he moves in everyone goes "UGH WHAT A WRECK, SHAME ON YOU, LOOK AT WHAT A MESS YOUR PLACE IS!"
You can only put so much lipstick on a pig, and the man is hardly a makeup artist.
No, my issue with Twitter isn't the website itself, shitty websites come and go. My problem is that it's such a center of the internet that it seeps into everything, even us down here in Cinemaphile, we were never centralized and yet we still suffer the dirty waters that flow from the streets above.
I just wish you could leave a website and not hear about it anymore, like the old internet, instead of it following you everywhere.
If we could convince the mods to ban Twitter screencaps it would make a night and day difference.
>we were never centralized and yet we still suffer the dirty waters that flow from the streets above.
I like this imagery.
I guess I just want to know where artists are eyeing next to jump ship to should more changes come down the pipeline.
Given that they picked Twitter before, whichever new place has the most anti-artist web design, like no archival view, no paginated scrolling, no meaningful way to sort or present their uploads, and mandatory jpg compression.
if he had any sense he'd have worked out that the site he wanted to own and frick over with endless early 2000s webmaster shenanigans was Cinemaphile
wouldn't have cost him 4 trillion dollarydoos either
>hasn't changed much
In the space of less than a year he has reduced the company's workforce by 80% most of whom left because he expected them to work like they were in fricking SpaceX, put in place ridiculous API changes that were designed specifically to frick over third party bot programmers which caused multiple other sites to follow suit, made a programme that lets you pay for checkmarks which pissed off most of his advertisers and sponsors and then recently did the tweet cap thing. He has run the site into the ground financially and when it inevitably stops making any money he will pull the plug on it completely, which the backlash for will be glorious to watch.
Honestly I'm glad he's fumbling so damn hard with what was literally the easiest thing to not frick up. All those corperate lemmings who follow suite will just bring about the new roblox based social media platform faster. On an unrelated note, you should probably stock up on as many roblox as you can now, because something tells me they'll be a bit harder to come by soon.
>In the space of less than a year he has reduced the company's workforce by 80%
And nothing changed. We know for a fact that most of those 'workers' were just adult-daycare workers who sit around drinking starbucks coffee all day.
>made a programme that lets you pay for checkmarks
On it's own this is pretty moronic, but tbf it's not like twitter checkmarks were used for anything other than moron bragging rights. If you can LOSE your checkmark for posting naughty opinions, which some celebs did, it's proof that the checkmark isn't there to validate your identity- it's a status symbol. There should be NO WAY to lose a checkmark that states that you are who you say you are, except for lying about your identity. If you can lose it for any other reason, that means it was never about identity, it was about being approved by Twitter. What do you mean "you said a slur, John Smith, your rights of being John Smith are revoked now"?
> he will pull the plug on it completely, which the backlash for will be glorious to watch.
Yes. Yes it will be, and I'll be there to shitpost among the rubble.
>and then recently did the tweet cap thing.
That was actually not planned, it was a response to a glitch and it reversed within a day
changed
You do know what "value" means in this case, right? It's not about how well a website functions, it's about how well investors will *predict* people will like the changes, and invest or pull out based on said predictions.
All investing is, is going "Hmm I think John will throw money at this hooker, I'll throw some too, to seem cool" "Hmm I think Bill won't throw money at this hooker, I won't throw any, to seem cool." "SHIT, JOHN DIDN'T THROW ANY MONEY, NOW MY MONEY WENT TO WASTE!" "SHIT BILL THREW MONEY, I SHOULDVE THROWN SOME TOO!" "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
>it's about how well investors predict people like the changes
>company has nearly no external investors left because everyone can clearly see that the site is a financial time bomb under Musk's direction
final post on this because it's derailed the thread, but this isn't even going into the fact that the site has lost billions in brand value alone after changing the logo to a fricking X recently lmao. You're failing to understand that a website run on advertisers cannot just get that value back on a whim, like in any industry advertisers bear grudges with platforms that actively frick them over. After firing most of his staff and a lot of them resigned he put in a bunch of half assed band aids for moderation and the main source of income for the site, the advertisers, didn't see it as a good platform for them to market with anymore, which in turn caused the externals to shit their pants and turn tail. he has zero experience with this type of advertiser led platform, and it shows.
But this isn't about advertisers, the point I was making is that nothing changed with the website when he fired 80% of the workers, because those 80% didn't do shit.
There were rehires and hires that replaced them.
He didn't hire 80% of the old amount of workers back.
Look anon, whether or not you wanna hear this, most of coding work nowadays is just adult daycare work, they don't do nothing, every office has one guy actually coding for every 10 randos doing frick all but painting their nails, sipping coffee and filming tiktok dances.
you know what negative equity is, right? he paid 40 billion and it's worth 12 less than a year later
he MySpace'd himself
>See!? Elon ruined a website I already hated and thought was cancer! Chuds BTFO
Why are you losers like this
site traffic dropped 10% in Q1 2023 and he just rebranded it as the "close window icon" site
honestly I kinda wish he'd built his own sub in 24 hours to go after the Titan on a rescue mission and try to prove his boasts when those kids were trapped in that cave, then imploded himself 500 feet down
not only would it give us all a laugh it would end having to hear about his daily stupidity and then the echo of that from all the dirt-poor fanboys who want to suck his dick
>freedom vs responsibility
You can argue that most of the shows from around that era were tackling that theme, it's a core part of the coming of age plot that seems to be ingrained in most Disney stuff now. It would have been more interesting if they had actually subverted this given that they were willing to write darker moments in. Basically everything in that post is what they had based the characters on, they just ended up completely fricking up the continuity of everything alongside never letting Star, the titular protagonist of the show, actually grow and adapt. It was fricking bizarre how many opportunities they had that they just threw away for the sake of keeping it a mediocre kids cartoon
This is kind of why I'm not too pissed about Wander Over Yonder being cancelled. If the titular hero is always right by being always kind, there's not much more you can do after his philosophy literally saves the galaxy. Gravity Falls is the only one that comes to mind when the big bad is defeated by something other than friendship.
I feel like it's a difficult thing to escape from, especially given how execs take pitches these days for the most basic shit ideas and then sand them down until they have barely anything left. It's why Infinity Train got massively fricked, it didn't want to mass appeal to the youngest audience and instead focused more on the older audience which ended up pissing off the HBO execs enough to cancel it.
just saw one posted in another thread
Pic related has never witnessed tard rage
I dont know the show name. But its funny to me
is that anon trying to tell me that the israelites are promoting homophobia? in that case; based israelites.
I think anon's closer to realizing that it's bait for fat ugly Twatter-insects who call themselves shit like "pansexual lesbians" in order to cope with nobody wanting them.
If israelites wanted people to hate homos, they'd use dudes and show some of the vile shit in the LGBT community.
I feel both disappointed yet relieved nobody saved my greentext about a younger Reggie getting molested by Kathy. I'm pretty ashamed of it but I wished I saved it for repository reasons.
Its probably somewhere on the archives, unless its pre 2010, then maybe one of the lesser known archives has it?
NTA, but is there a Cinemaphile archive for 2011? I think the current archive is missing the entire year, or at least most of it.
Not tbh, it seems like the archive for this board started sometime in may (or was deleted). Maybe it's on one of the other ones, and if not then there's gotta be at least one data hoarder on one of the ircs willing to help you out
The one on Harry Potter being a centrist liberal with no actual beliefs because Rowling is a centrist liberal with no actual beliefs was spot on.
Bit of an inverse example, but years ago on this board I ended up writing so many essays and analyses on Lord Dominator's character and how well she works both by herself and in relation to the rest of the show that someone said they had compiled a Notepad of all of them
I've moved on to original stuff now but I still appreciate how well she pulls off the low-functioning sociopath shit, especially all the horribly off-color comments she makes about explicitly murdering people
I've got a few
I think I have some more, but they're on my google drive not my pc, so it'll take longer to find them
okay, here's some more
and that's all i got
> being this mad about some jokes
God this guy is the physical manifestation of first world problems, what a homosexual
He's obviously tired okay
this is a great pitch. i'd watch that show religiously.
Shit now I kind of low key hate My Adventures with Superman.
masterclass shitpost about watchmen
>Those Frickers. Our Shit.
I miss the old SMBC
I screencapped posts telling me to stop coming here and eventually i always end up coming back anyways
Help
I've been here since 2007. You never leave.
not Cinemaphile but i 100% believe this
That’s a lot of proper nouns
Yes, I will often take screencaps of good analysis/criticism that I find. I was hoping to find some more examples here, but it seems like most people have misinterpreted OP and are treating this like your standard greentext/"best of" thread
From a K6BD thread a couple months back
Wish this had gotten more traction.
Sorry, better version
It's a good effort, but you can't replace lyrics in a song with words that have a different syllable count. It's cheap, lazy, and erodes the whole effort. It's also extremely common.
This came out in one of those Santa Inc. threads that got spammed last year and it put into words the problem I have with Cinemaphileomers
holy shit he's right
