Have you ever stopped to think about how ridiculous the concept is of a grown man dressing up like a bat to fight crime without any weapons and calling himself "bat man"?

the best forms of pottery exist in the absurd
This is why its strange to like western super hero movies but dislike anime, both are absurdist.
That’s why The Batman is so silly. It takes itself way too seriously with no humor at all
It was the first movie where Batman felt completely out of place. I couldn't suspend my disbelief with Pattinson standing in a leather gimp suit surrounded by cops.
>It takes itself way too seriously with no humor at all
But if it too itself too serious, it would come out as nothing but a comedy.
>noooooooo my capeshit needs to have constant quips and cliché writing!!!!
>It takes itself way too seriously with no humor at all
Nolanman post-Begin.
>no humor
You're fricking moronic if you think that movie didn't have humor.
>Batman felt completely out of place
Fricking how? The Riddler didn't? The Penguin didn't?
The Batman was essentially a parody of grimdark superhero movies and no one here got it.
If you're going to be a vigilante at all, you might as well also be a recognizable symbol.
The Nolan movies actually do a good job of showing this, since they show the origin of the armor and even make a point about they have to make a special order the ears from somewhere else. If it wasn't for the ears and the bat symbol, it would just be a man in a black suit.
What about the cape?
The cape is also explained in Begins, it was only added for its usefulness.
how about the bat boomerangs?
everything is explained you turbo moron
just watch the fricking movie
how about you dilate and cope more you grown man in a bat costume apologist
Man I just rewatched Begins yesterday, didn't expect to be quizzed on it.
The boomerangs came after he settled on the idea of a bat superhero and made a bat costume, which matters most with the whole superhero persona thing. All else, all the tools and stuff, are secondary and don't matter as much.
and yet you are here
he's got ninja stars shaped like little bats
It's stupid as frick and it's why Burton's tongue-in-cheek treatment of the material was the best way to approach it.
There's a difference between tongue-in-cheek and being a parody like Adam West's show, which was made more comedic due to early time slot it occupied. It was originally intended to be a more straightforward/serious adaptation.
In a sea of quips and camp, Batman works best with a darker or more mature approach that better fits his aesthetic. That's how Burton revived the franchise and Nolan only took it to its natural evolution, i.e. making it more grounded/realistic.
The best balance lies in both. The Arkham games did this right.
If you're going for a more comedic tone, then you may as well do it like Lego Batman and not half ass it.
>without any weapons
That's bait
No because I can't stop thinking about how every town should have one.
The only ridiculous thing is Bruce training with the ninja for years without knowing they kill prisoners. Like, did the entire group just stop bringing in prisoners for executions the moment Bruce joined? Were they all just gathering dust in the basement, waiting for the next dude to finish his training?
Anyone else feel like the Joker is literally them?
Have you ever stopped to think about how ridiculous the concept is of a group of grown men making up shit like the Fed without any foundation in reality just arbitrarily making new money when they feel like it?
>arbitrary
Hmm, why don't they make everybody rich then?
Batman seems out of place because they toned down the rest of Gotham for muh gritty realism and used really lame grounded designs for everything especially the villains. He fits in a lot more when everything else around him is ridiculous as well. Gritty can work but much better in artistic depictions of the city on the page, not just filming a real life city. No this is not an endorsement of Batman Forever, do not watch Batman Forever
Yes anon, it's called fiction.
It's even more moronic that people with money and powers would use their abilities for good and not rob banks and kill people they don't like. If superpowers were a thing, superheroes would be dictators and enslave us without question
Yes that’s why The Batman is the best batkino ever made because it acknowledges how weird it is.
>if you kill a killer, the number of killers stays the same
This is thing I hate most about Batman.
>I will not become an executioner
>Immediately proceeds to blow up a building and kill hundreds of people
What did he mean by this?
>kills 2 killers
checkmate
>is now as dangerous as two killers
no not really
Anymore ridiculous than grown men cutting their dicks off, putting on dresses and calling themselves women?
Well, when you put it like that
Are you saying batman is a troony?
I did, and it ruined all capeshit for me. Can't enjoy any of these batman or superman flicks anymore.
I actually have. The main reason i don´t think Nolan´s Batman or Snyder´s Superman work is because they were too grounded. Neither Batman nor Superman make sense in the real world. They need context. Batman can only exist thanks to Gotham, which is a timeless symbol of exaggerated madness and corruption. Superman can only exists thanks to Metropolis, a fictitious city erected on the ideals that of progress and the American way of life.
That´s why the closest live action has ever been to actually pulling Batman right are the Burton movies. He understood Gotham was not meant to be a real place but a place on which a character like Batman would make sense. And then you have movies like Sin City or Dick Tracy that take it a step further and accept their nature as stories and attempt to translate all the qualities of their medium. Exposing the simulation makes far easier to the audiences to accept those are the rules of the established universe since nobody expects realism from the go.
They lack the fantasy element that ground their superhero aesthetic.
The new Batman movie made me actually think that the first time he walks in a room full of cops. He just looks weird.
It is... thats why he only works as a concept like a vampire, only in the middle of night, like a shadow, a boogeyman, a myth. In the middle of dark his costume doesn't look that stupid, it blends with the background, it can be scary. Like Dracula, during the day he lost his mojo and looks like a Halloween costumed buffoon.
That's why the Nolanverse will always be the best since he treated the batman as Bruce's mental illness that he had to overcome rather than his vocation.
