Projects like these really demonstrate how the future of entertainment is going to come from independent artists.

Checked. I sincerely hope that these strikes will kill the western animation industry because frick are we in need of a reset.

Don’t kill the industry, take the power away from imaginationless execs. They’re the ones responsible for this drivel.

This. This animated short was better than the last several Scooby Doo movies. And will probably be better than the FNAF movie.

Why is Five Night At Freddie’s so popular? It was a mediocre game with mediocre characters.

      >Why is Five Night At Freddie’s so popular?
it was one of the first "indie horror games with >deep lore and story"

Exactly the right place at the right time to coincide with the explosion of popularity of YouTubers
The likes of Markiplier and Jacksepticeye had their careers made by screaming at these games. Kids bought the game to try to make their friends scream or to try to be streamers themselves.
Then the super half-baked and cryptic lore of the games also popped up on theory channels just as lore shit was getting bigger and bigger
And finally it became a fan-of-the-fandom thing when Tumblr was at its height and lots of horny girls wanted to make the creepy animatronics into sexy fox men
Just very lucky to be the right thing at the exact right time

Well frick, as far as I see the guy ended up explaining he only used AI because he had no way to pay for VA and people still tried to shit on him.

Too bad Grey got into it in a bad way since her voice has gone from bas to worse in the last few years.

Has nothing to do with Velma. Was a former write/director on early Spongebob tagging people and then Grey DeLisle doubled down on his anger by threatening to make sure voice actors don't work with the artist that used AI voices.

          Anonymous

And that's quite understandable. Using a VA's simulated voice is like copying a model's likeness and using it without permission. I find it pretty crazy that people think that's okay.

Grey used to be really passionate about her job, as Azula she got so into the character that she wanted her character to end up pregnant, too bad she went from that into nothing of relevance in the last few years

Yeah, it was many different things, are you some newbie or something? We have talked about it for years, in some event with fans asking the VA, someone asked Grey what she believed would be the life changing event that would happen between Azula and Zuko and she answer pregnancy, she used to be fuel foe Cinemaphile

But it was for a free piece of unofficial media with the entire animation process made by hand.
Delise is just trying to cover her ass, as if she shows support, it'll just give big wigs even more of a reason to try and cheap out on VA work and stuff.

          Anonymous

I mean if the artist had the means to afford the VA’s in the first place they wouldn’t need to use AI in the first place. This guys ain’t ever gonna be able to afford professional VA for projects like this. AI is a godsend for smaller creators who have the passion and the talent but not the financial means. A 1 person project no longer has to be super small in scale if they can rely on AI art and voices and music. Will it be as preferable as something full of professionals? No, but if it’s the only way for the art to exist then it should be supported. Only if it’s not for profit, mind you.

There are literal YouTube videos on how to do it.

It's 3D model posing that's emulating 60s puppet animation along with video effects. It's definitely impressive for one person to do, but it's not impossible.

      >Free 3D creation and animation programs
      >video editing software
      >be adequate enough in writing/boarding/3d model creating/animating yourself

There's been tons of solo animation that's even more impressive.

And that's quite understandable. Using a VA's simulated voice is like copying a model's likeness and using it without permission. I find it pretty crazy that people think that's okay.

It was definitely a bit dumb of him due to the current climate surrounding AI art, especially since he seems to want to have a name for himself in the animation industry.
But I don't think AI voice/art is wrong in itself.

Animation doesn’t have to cost as much as it does, it could be much cheaper if only the animation pipeline were more efficient

His excuse doesn't make any sense. You can get good voice actors for cheap. They might not sound exactly the same but neither did his Scooby voice

        >broke as frick and spent what he could getting a shaggy VA
        >no he has to either break the bank even more by fully casting or not make the animation because... he just does, ok?!
Honest question, at what point do anti-AI types just accept that this is happening? We're quickly running out of things AI supposedly is never going to be able to compete with real artists over and the ability of a few people to make bank off commissions is less important than the ability of an infinite amount of amateur/hobbyist upstarts like this guy to create dream projects they otherwise wouldn't have the means to

The only time people should be anti-AI is when homosexual corporation use it to cheap out on their budget as much as possible.
Corporations should only use AI to ASSIST, not to REPPLACE. Some single dude making a piece in his spare time is not threatening the industry.
