I've never understood why New Vegas is so praised, it's basically a less moronic Fallout 3 which was absolutely awful so it's not exactly an accomplishment, it's still a Gamebryo abomination with bad gameplay and derpy npcs.
Tim Cain goes into extensive deconstructive detail destroy the myth that New Vegas is even remotely competent. His argument for Fallout 3's cinematic storytelling is itself reinventive.

Guys that played 3 as their first one and then learned about 1 & 2 through New Vegas
I don't get it either. It's got a cool 'old west' vibe but it's literally just a linear railroad ride that takes you in a 'U' shape from goodsprings to new vegas where you promptly frick+kill benny and do a little of this n' that and give the dam to whoever you want.
New Vegas only has
