Again, I think the "powers that be" are also a greedy algorithm. A greedy algorithm basically means one that chooses the "ideal" solution in the short term, rather than the overall ideal one. Think of it like planning a road trip and simply going to the nearest destination rather than actually finding the shortest route.

It's a shockingly simple observation now that I've made it. It's the same reason humanity hasn't all evolved to be able to run the same speed as usain bolt, it's not necessary for survival, and arguably the investment in resources to allow it biologically speaking is prohibitive. At the end of the day intelligent people don't seem to reproduce nearly as much as average humans and they suffer from many comorbidities due to it. It's a fluke and it's going to go away

The only thing this movie got wrong was how many white people were left. Most would be the mixed race golbinas and Black mutts. The one time Netflix could get it right. But realistically Netflix would make the main character a super smart black woman and make the stupid future people even more white.
