Like he truly, genuinely believes that hell is forever and the masks are revealed to be something that alters their wearers personalities so they can stomach going down and “freeing” them.

Vox’s success is to tied to the massive growth of the exterminations. And looking at the masks Adam and his angels wear, it’s clear they were created in Hell by Vox’s modernist techno companies. They definitely were not created in heaven for how creepy and demonic they are in origin.
And what makes Vox and the other Vees so powerful is the power of escapism and pleasure they offer to forget the bad memories the afterlife beings have experienced. That they literally brainwashed you into becoming their slaves.
(Which is a concept that would be wasted if wasn’t done in this season, since Viv didn’t know she would have a continuation and Sir Pentious would be killed off before countering the Vee’s schemes.)
Perhaps the season 2 arc is about Lute realizing how Adam actually views the sinners and his failure to save Eve, which comes into play in season 3.

The pilot was actually pretty tight when you look at it. I know she had help, but at least she knew to fricking listen to good advice back then. We can at least credit her for that, and you wouldn't think she doesn't belong in a writer's room.
Seeing the series though tells you she's not the primary talent in the pilot though, and shouldn't be left to her own devices or allowed to let her shit overshadow basic fricking writing. The pilot was great for sure and it really felt so neatly set up and it gave room for all the main cast to be introduced and properly characterized
I think Viv belongs in the writer's room, but not alone
I've mentioned it before but creatives need wranglers and people around them to help them both water their metaphorical gardens and keep the weeds trimmed
Viv clearly got a big head and I doubt she's listening to anyone's feedback and the studio probably has really loose parameters for her to follow in the first place
It's kinda a shame but at the same time most of the charm for this series is the characters and the world and what (we) can do with them

I suspect that Vox is the mastermind of season 1 because the big themes in this season are (hidden) masters and servants [Alastor is enslaved by Lilith, Husk and Nifty are enslaved by Alastor, the pride rng is enslaved by Vox and the Vees] and getting out of addictions [Angel Dust is trapped under Porn and Drug addictions by Val, the Pride Ring is addicted to the technology offered by Vox that brainwashes them].
It makes more sense if Adam was the victim and the suppler, Vox, [who legit has made Hell worse than ever and dragged many souls into it in his mortal days for money and fame], was the one who got killed off instead. Because Vox represents the main source of the problems in season 1 while Adam is merely the consequences of refusing to resolve it.

I think the direction of Heaven should've been a bureaucratic nightmare rather than flippant on what is the actual definition of a good soul. It would've been more entertaining where the holdup for the hotel is paperwork that Adam dumps on Charlie and very strict rules on what is considered a redeemed soul that is so specific that no one could ever be considered this way.
Then the case against Heaven in the court is about why does "good" need to be quantified by a checklist concocted over the existence of Heaven rather than the 10 step program God gave.

The biggest thing is that it is a mocking of before he made his mistake, that he felt too much pride in himself to listen to the fellow angels. He may no longer have pride, but his circle and his sin is such as a mockery of his mistake in the past.

No one in this show should ever be making it out of Hell, or finding redemption. Kindness exercises can’t replace their utter lack of compassion, or violent attitudes. The antagonist forces of Heaven are 100% in the right for purging, and making a utter mockery of Hellfolk. The Hellfolk do way more worse acts to themselves than any Angel could ever even imagine, —it’s a mercy to extinguish their soul, and still they would rather live in quite literal hell if it meant sticking the finger to God and his Angels.

Hell is not a location. It is a state. It is the state of lovenessness and rejection of God, which is a rejection of the best part of oneself meaning that you are never truly happy. Sinners literally cannot be happy by choice, because they reject the Good.
The show could have been interesting if it explored the fact that hell is not there for the sinners but rather that the sinners bring hell with them. It could have then asked the question if anybody can actually change given an eternity. Instead the show is too busy morally grandstanding over a battered image of christianity.

Loona had plenty of characterization in HB S1. The problem is she's showed up in a speaking role in one episode of S2 and that one episode didn't even match her characterization in S1 and regressed her.

The latest being that heaven needs to accept a theoretical chance that someone in hell can be redeemed and since they themselves don't know how someone gets in heaven it somehow means they should not judge those who did not.

I genuinely don’t think the writers have the chops to do something like this, but I think it would be neat if Adam was revealed to feel compassion for his damned descendants and actually view the exterminations as a mercy for them.

And what makes Vox and the other Vees so powerful is the power of escapism and pleasure they offer to forget the bad memories the afterlife beings have experienced. That they literally brainwashed you into becoming their slaves.

The pilot was actually pretty tight when you look at it. I know she had help, but at least she knew to fricking listen to good advice back then. We can at least credit her for that, and you wouldn't think she doesn't belong in a writer's room.
Seeing the series though tells you she's not the primary talent in the pilot though, and shouldn't be left to her own devices or allowed to let her shit overshadow basic fricking writing. At best she got involved with a bunch of homosexuals changing shit for dumb reasons, (still her fault), and at worst, it's all her dumb shit coming out now because she got rid of, or no longer listens to people she should.
The pilot was great for sure and it really felt so neatly set up and it gave room for all the main cast to be introduced and properly characterized

The Hellfolk do way more worse acts to themselves than any Angel could ever even imagine, —it’s a mercy to extinguish their soul, and still they would rather live in quite literal hell if it meant sticking the finger to God and his Angels.

Which is all pointless because if as state the goal is to keep hell from getting too strong then non of the redemption stuff has any input on goings on.
Also since they are zig zaging on it, it makes no sense for heaven to fear hell if no one in hell can even scratch an angel. Even less now that they are apparently a small strike force the rest of heaven does not know about

I hope we finally get some screentime between Adam and Lucifer in the last two episodes. These two have the most conflictive relationship in the premise- yet the fact that the writers haven't even bothered taking advantage of it, not even having Adam squirm that Charlie is his first ex-wifes daughter once, has been very disappointing. We need some REAL Dad vs. Dad action, the dumb red deer doesn't count
