I find that unaccpetable on behalf of these people everywhere. What did she even mean by this? Doesn't she care? Where does she get off thinking she has a right to do this to people less privileged than her? She could at least be sensitive to their lived experience and warn them before they get emotionally blindsided by Viv's potentially triggering scene and are retraumatized by her carelessness.

The crazy part of all this is the whole showing off of heavy sexual content but then reeling it back in with "you should always get consent" which is not a thing when you are stuck around rapists and sex fiends (which I am sure is going to be ignored for the sake of "Hell is better than Heaven" near the end of the season)
Viv's Hell is extremely mild and tries to be wholesome, especially in Helluva, where you have the Avatar of Lust be against rape and have a wholesome romance with an imp and Fizz be a disability advocate with that deaf imp.
Everything about Hell in this series is very dissonant and wanting to be both ways, it's wants to be this absolutely terrible place but it's also trying to make it soft and kinder than heaven.
I thought about this, the issue is that there's no perspective character who can actually call out the gap between Hell as we know it and the "Basically just Detroit/Las Vegas" Vivzie presents.
Imagine if Blitzø was a sinner with a bit of a Spawn parody aspect to him, a guy who made a "deal with the devil" with Stolas in life after having worked for DHORKS or something. Having to adapt to hell, he got Loona as basically a guard dog before coming to care for her, while Millie and Moxxie were the only ones who showed up to the interview. Fizzaroli was his "year one" villain. His relationship with Verosika was some Bond girl shit.
Part of the job is that he's basically a demonic repo-man who comes to collect, pitting him against sinners who can have crazy powers of their own.
Now, aside from actually being a parody of the things that Helluva boss set out to parody, he's a perspective character who learns how vastly different hell is from the typical legends and has to adapt to Vivzie hell despite having prepped for a more classical hell or something along the lines of Hellboy

It's not the comedic part either. It's that the whole appeal of the trope involves enchanted-yet-conventional weaponry, tactics and skill, and just pure badassery pitted against opponents with crazy supernatural powers.
Y'know.. what Stryker does but IMP can't because the only characters with actual crazy powers are the Sins and the Goetias.
It's not even a matter of taste, it's a show based around a trope that said show has no interest in, in a universe not designed for said trope.

It’s an “I Want song,” it’s an introduction to the world and its characters, and it’s also something of a thesis statement for the first season of the show! It felt like an example of the requirements of the song writing the song for us. When the box around what you’re trying to write is so specific, in many ways it makes the job easier. “Poison” was a totally different animal, in that it’s what I’d describe as a “mood song.” It doesn’t serve the purpose of advancing the plot, but rather giving us the opportunity to explore a character’s state of mind. I connected with it immediately – I’m not personally a spider-demon sex worker in thrall to an abusive overlord in hell, but, like with acting, you find your points of commonality with the character and explore those. I’m a sexual assault survivor, my sense of self is highly tied up in my professional work, and I have a tendency brush off whatever issues I’m personally dealing with to put on a happy face for those around me. That’s much more than enough to create a meaningful connection to the character of Angel Dust and his mental and emotional state in that sequence.

I think the simpler explanation is that like a lot of shows that push an agenda, Viv's mind is both inside and outside of the show at the same time, (but she doesn't realise it). A mentality that results in exactly this kind of inconsistency. So she has characters saying shit they would never say in a closed universe, because their characters couldn't possibly know shit, the in-show universe doesn't work that way, or it would otherwise be out of character. In this case she's doing (her perception of) ACTUAL IRL Christianity and her own weird, uninformed fictional version of it at the exact same time, and doesn't even realise, like a bad karaoke singer changing octaves mid-phrase.

As for pay, none of us actually know if the current cast was paid a premium. Many are famoud in broadway but none are well-known names to mainstream audiences beyond maybe Keith David.
For me I'll never understand peoples' insistance on the original cast remaining. It seems like they'd be hiring them based off nepotism if the casting team and director had access to a better pool of talent that made creating the show easier. Having one VA instead of two isn't a must but I'm sure it does make things easier during show production, probably for a lot of reasons (might be cheaper to hire just one person, there can be more of a seemless transition between dialogue and the musical number, its easier to record scenes etc).
They're both people that could make it as paid professionals in musicals, they've effectively still established talent in that domain. The original cast did not have that kind of experience, with many being fairly inexperienced in their careers in general.
I don't like Alastor's voice. More than the voice itself it's the tone he uses, in the pilot he sounded way more like a radio host talking than he does now. Now he just has a filter over his voice but the energy and tone a radio host should have is gone most of the time.

what'll it be when Season 1 is over, was completely overstuffed with Heaven conflict and the V's and Alastor's mystery happening all at once, and we don't even get to funny episodic hijinks redeeming sinners until Seasons 2 or 3?
Having a fight against Heaven is like a series-finale plotline, and prior to that you could've had an entire season about the Hotel's rivalry with the V's, like in Season 2 or something. But instead it's all happening rapid fire in the first few episodes

Long story short? To my understanding Mick is the one who basically brought her into the fold and let her rub elbows with a lot of the bigger names of the online indie scene to begin with, he was basically instrumental in forming the more Newgrounds side of said scene in the mid 2010s and I think there was a feeling that everyone was in it together at that point.
That's sad to hear, especially since I think Husk's voice was way better in the pilot than it is in the show. Keith David has a great voice, but it seems wrong for an alcoholic gambler.
