I'll be honest I'm not a fan of these characters. They're only ever as smart as the author can be and become stupid the second the protagonist needs to win. The Emperor himself was basically the same the way he trapped the whole rebel fleet in a deathlock but then allowed them to build ANOTHER ventilation shaft in the new death star. I'll give Thrawn a chance though.

    >allow the release of Sabine who immediately becomes a combatant for the enemy

He literally could've simply kept ALL of his troops and Baylan&Shin in the star destroyer and it wouldn't have changed a single thing.

Shin would have killed them both if not for Asshoka's interference. They would have both been killed if Baylaan didn't randomly leave right before the battle for absolutely no reason whatsoever as well. Thrawn knows they might be able to leave the galaxy like he did and that they will be two of his biggest threats should that happen. Ezra has survived there despite being hunted by Thrawn and not having a weapon for like 15yrs or something dude

        Anonymous

        >Ezra has survived there despite being hunted by Thrawn
I'm under the notion he wasn't being hunted at all, that entire time. Thrawn just kept tabs on him while going about his apparently own business of keeping his ramshackle Destroyer operational and his troops in some state of life.

          Anonymous

Why would he let him go though? He is a major threat to Thrawn and he is the reason they're both there anyways. It doesn't really make any sense that over all this time, neither of them managed to kill each other. It would have been way cooler if somehow, after years of fighting, they came to some sort of soft truce and agreed to go their separate ways or even maybe helped each other, but that would be far too interesting for Disney

Why waste time or effort with a kid who's no threat to him as long as he's stuck on a shit world squabbling with raiders and has no means to travel faster than his pod people can drag him? Ezra brought nothing with him, not even his lightsaber. Keeping him is worthless, killing him is worthless.

He's a jedi though moron. Thrawn knows what kind of a threat they are to him. It makes no sense that they both survived being trapped on this planet for over a decade and neither of them killed each other

He doesn't hate Jedi, though, no-books. He probably tried to cut Ezra a deal, Ezra told him to stuff it, and Thrawn just let him leave, possibly banking on time and deprivation eventually convincing Ezra to come back and join him of his own volition.

On that we agree. Filoni never understood the nuance behind Thrawn's motives. He stalked Nightswan for years just to offer the guy a job, because Nightswan would have been useful to the Ascendancy against the Grysk threat. Thrawn's a talent scout in the books, that never translated into Filoni's version in Rebels and it doesn't seem to be the case in Ahsoka either. Pity.

None of these people think for themselves because they live in areas that make them oversocialized and dependent on the group instead of cultivating skills for independence. Anybody that speaks out against the ~~*group*~~ must be cast out. Most of these people do not have good relations with their families which makes them more susceptible to cults as well.
