Being addicted to sobriety must be hell. It should be blatantly obvious that these people didn't learn a thing. Say a guy likes drinking beer. Then after a long while it becomes a problem and he's a full blown alcoholic. Then through the 12 steps or some other means he sobers up. He says he's recovered and yet he can't even trust himself with a 40 after a long day. That sounds like someone who's still an addict to me.
The only pragmatic route out of addiction is to find something else you enjoy more than the high. Which you then become addicted to so that you don't relapse into your previous addiction.
And on and on it goes.. and you just keep doing this over and over and over and on the whole thing goes. Many such cases.
Sobriety programs teach you that you're an addict for life. And that sobriety is merely a state that an addict is in. Which I'm inclined to agree with. Addicts never stop being addicts. They have good days where they don't think about it. And bad days when they struggle to resist the urge. It never truly goes away. Not 100%.

When I was addicted to heroin I associated with several other junkies, naturally. I learned that these people tend to be complete garbage long before the drugs got involved. Also if you stop using and then spend every waking moment talking about your drug of choice/times you were high and post things like "FRICK HEROIN" on your Facebook page then you're not even close to "recovery". Just my two cents though.
I don't consider addicts that spend 50-80% of the rest of their lives talking about how they were addicts actually clean or moved on. If you're never going to shut the frick up about the drugs just go do the drugs. Stop talking about them, stop doing them, and move on entirely.
