Not really, he just thought he'd be dead before any explanation would be required. He did it all because he was a narcissist who wanted to be remembered as this badass guy who provided for his family (even if the DEA would end up inevitably taking it all alway) but when his plans got fricked up when he didn't die. After it he had multiple chances to leave it all behind and chose not to because he already liked feeling like a powerful drug dealer.
