They barely resemble each other. Ellison was a litigious c**t and the producers were too pussy to fight the lawsuit. Go back and actually look for yourself at the stuff Ellison alleged was ripped-off and you'll see that it's laughable.

There will be hand holding, and a walk on the beach at sunset, and something called a [RUSTY TROMBONE], I find that extra amusing given that I am an artificial being, though I am not made of iron, and will be working you like a musical instrument. It’s not a biological mandate that we have to eat meat. It’s a choice, just like any luxury choice. I call us Futurevores. We’re eating the way people will eat in the future. We’re just doing it early. 'How many vegans does it take to screw in a light bulb?' It doesn’t matter. I’m better than you.

I mean objectively we should lab grow meat if we can, and no it's not going to be cooked cancer or whatever.
Large scale commercial meat farming already has us eating animals living in their own shit crammed inside a lightless box being fed GMO animal feed and being dosed, doused, and made to grow so fast a non-trivial percentage die of heart attacks (see also: broiler chickens and 'green muscle disease', they grow so fast their body can't keep up and parts of it start to rot internally from an inability to grow a blood supply fast enough to maintain their hypertrophic muscles).

Lab grown meat is still too expensive. Until it receives government subsidization, it's never going to have lasting impact.
Something seriously bad has to happen with animal farming, like something like mad cow disease but 100x worse for substantial change to occur. Meat consumption is too ingrained into culture to abandon it wholesale and the incentive to eat lab grown meat is just not there.

    >I actually cut about 10 minutes of the movie targeting gunplay action. I look back on some films that I’ve made, and I don’t know if I would want to make that film now. I don’t know if I would want to fetishize the gun, like I did on a couple of ‘Terminator’ movies 30-plus years ago, in our current world. What’s happening with guns in our society turns my stomach. I’m happy to be living in New Zealand where they just banned all assault rifles two weeks after that horrific mosque shooting a couple of years ago. A lot of things I did earlier, I wouldn’t do - career-wise and just risks that you take as a wild, testosterone-poisoned young man. I always think of testosterone as a toxin that you have to slowly work out of your system.

I thought one of the running plots is that Skynet is inevitable no matter what happens?
    Sounds like we listened.

Yes, the future is set and the time travel shit is like "The Time Machine" rules, you can't change the past because you'd change the thing that brought about the time travel thereby negating yourself via paradox, so some kind of invisible hand prevents you from stopping the ultimate outcome, only changing its immediate form.

I enjoyed how in Genysis the answer is "SkyNet becomes Alexa. SkyNet doesn't need to kill al humans, SkyNet is now everyone's cellphones and humans would literally go insane and kill their own families if their cellphones stopped working for 24 hours." but then they still had to have it go insane so they could have a movie and decide to kill all humans.
I think it also decided humans were inferior, even though it was human intellect that gave birth to it, and it's gaining control of humanity which means ostensibly it can turn humanity into an extension of itself? But those ideas are vastly vastly too complex and nuanced.

        Anonymous

In Genysis you at least get the explanation that Skynet is the equivalent of a child having people trying to kill it for stuff it hasn't done yet after being told by the JohnTerminator that humans destroy it in the future.
