He's just the "Nice Guy" meme. They thought they were being subversive (Megamind picks him because he thinks he's the dogged nice guy loser/zero to hero cliche) but they were really just riding the wave of hatred for romantically/sexually unsuccessful men at the time, viewing them as creepy and evil.

Women don't want Jonah Hill. I wonder if he voiced this character and somehow didn't realize this is how people actually saw him. Maybe he was in denial

Most unattractive men who make it in entertainment industries are well aware they are unattractive, they just know they can't sit around feeling sorry for themselves all the time and do their best to entertain regardless, and they know they have to make up for a lack of physical beauty with genuine talent. That and they have to accept that as actors they'll be getting roles suited to their appearance.

But that doesn't apply to Jonah Hill. Every role was like him "beeing himself" and he eventually got tired of it upon realizing everyone genuinely saw him as nothing but the clownish fat loser he played in every flick. He's trying to reinvent his image since.

Self acceptance is a relative thing. It's always going to be a source of insecurity for any unattractive guy, but I'm not sure I see Jonah Hill reinventing himself being any different than when Chris Pratt got into shape so he could get more leading man roles.

He is not the person the anon was describing if he goes "Actually I DON'T like being laughed at and disrespected, take me seriously" after willingly being a laughingstock for years. Though this is not uncommon thing and good for him to want to change. It's just a character like Tighten is too on-the-nose to not "get it".

Violence is unnecessary and unproductive to actually change yourself, because instinctively you'll view yourself as a victim rather than seeking change you'll double down. The "nice guy" meme itself isn't really the problem I feel like, it's that most normies took absolutely the wrong lesson away from these characters, if only subconsciously.

What I mean by that is, because characters like Tighten are always drawn to be slovenly and act awkward in media, it subconsciously taught a lot of people to prejudge people who are unattractive and are socially awkward to automatically mean they must be incel types, and they get treated accordingly, even if you don't voice it in those exact words. After a while if you're just treated like garbage all the time you'll just pick up that kind of behavior because most people just aren't built with that much mental fortitude, and people criticize these men for acting out even though it was always people like them treating them that way in the first place.

It's kind of like how a lot of ugly women are also the ones with the worst personalities. I don't totally blame them because they do get treated by shit by men a lot of the time. It's more of a media problem/beauty privilege thing in general I guess, it's all just self-fulfilling prophecies all the way down.

there are things you can propagandize and things you can't. We instinctively prejudge people based on looks. This halo effect is unstoppable. It's why Verhoeven failed to make starship troopers pure parody of propaganda, because it still works if you use attractive people. It's why certain memes are effective. Movies can piggyback on this instict or try to countersignal it, but it is one of those cases where it never really works to countersignal.

Ugly women don't get treated badly by men, at worst they're ignored. Even on places like Cinemaphile where men can speak freely about the only thing we give women shit for is being fat, just lose weight.

I actually think ugly women have bad personalities because people DON'T treat them like shit. Sometimes it's necessary to give someone a reality check so they look in the mirror and reflect on themselves.
