These movies are in themselves “cinema” they’re not refined, meaningful “cinema” but they’re as close to objectively being “cinema” as any movie he holds dear
Art isn’t a 3 litter complement you through at something you like, it’s any creative human output, a toddler drawing a circle is OBJECTIVELY art
With that said yeah, these movies are just mid goo goo gaga movies for Americans to enjoy
No, not everything is art, you pathethic little redditor.
I could just say who the hell cares about murricans, but your statement is false anyway, gymrats like anime. The only people that hate anime with a passion are the smelly neckbeards, most of them still living in their parents basement, they hate anime because it overtook their lame and geeky cartoons and comics.

0/10 you didn't even try
I have 2 Gymrat mates one is a PT and the other a Sparky. The PT "loves" anime he watches pretty much every shounen anime that comes out and has 7 different versions of that shitty Goku shirt you see around. The Sparky reacts with visceral disgust if Japan is hinted at for anything outside of WW2.

Best example of his quote is NWH. I like the movie but at its core, it’s not a film, it’s spectacle meant to be watched only once in a crowd. You can just feel how the director had so little input
I liked how he didn't even actually shit on them THAT much, just that they were too safe and that safety made studios unwilling to gamble on lesser known ideas or take any storytelling
>But the sameness of today’s franchise pictures is something else again. Many of the elements that define cinema as I know it are there in Marvel pictures. What’s not there is revelation, mystery or genuine emotional danger. Nothing is at risk. The pictures are made to satisfy a specific set of demands, and they are designed as variations on a finite number of themes.

Such a tame comment caused so much gnashing of teeth. And then every successive MCU project played out as though they were trying to prove his point for him.
my thing is that nobdoy actually tried to say that it was true art when it was at it's peak, the only people to treat superhero movies as something other then a basic action movie are batman and snyder fans, i'm pretty sure most people do just treat them as fun summer movies and at the time people were probably just intimidated by all the money they were making, i just don't believe anybody treated the movies as high art unless you nitpick at autistic fanbpys who samegay 5 star reviews for the things they like
Anime is even worse
That's right
>Enter a Cinemaphile thread
>Anime is neither mentioned or alluded to
>First post: Muh anime
You better start charging anime some rent.
is neither mentioned or alluded to
Because Scorcese is too old to even know what the frick anime is
But it's just as schlocky (if not worse) with weirder, more dysgenic fans
Nope
No, not everything is art, you pathethic little redditor.
>Nope
Yes
Why do you think jock chads in America loathe anime?
It's audience is pre-teens, trannies and third worlders. With CONSOOMing habits far worse than any other demo

Cope

Lmao
>The only people that hate anime with a passion are the smelly neckbeards, most of them still living in their parents basement,
That's literally anime's demographic. Ever talked to a weaboo in real life? They often smell like shit and can't make eye contact.
Unironically was the guy that raped your mother an anime fan or something?
Unironically did you start to transition after watching Sailor Moon?
After buying the manga, you gay.

>muh redit
Mother fricker at least come up with an original non-response, I literally never touched that site
You should, they like this fake positivity crap you spout.
all expression is art
>Anime is even worse
Rent free

He's right, but I'll take points off his opinions for what "art" is for praising Ti West's slop.
I liked the MCU up until Endgame, but even I admit he was right to an extent, even if it came off as a bit of jealousy.
Yeah. Still watching capeshit though.
No he is just a big baby, cinema wouldn't even exist anymore without Marvel
Yeah dude, cinema is doing so well because of shitty slop movies.
>Yeah dude, cinema is doing so well because of shitty slop movies.
blockbusters are often providing the funds for studios to produce auteur movies
when was the last time a Scorcese movie did well? Wolf of Wall Street?
yes they would have starting dying off before covid without Marvel, even Scorsesse himself couldn't release The Irishman in cinema

Calm down, Flashgay

this, however I think MCU oversaturation (and the formulaic nature of the shared universe) broke the discourse
it's sad because adaptations could be fun and aesthetically cool like Tim Burton's Batman movies. But alas.
