Do you believe in it, anon? It's a cointoss for me
>Based on one of the best comic stories
>Seems that they'll keep it small-scale this time instead of trying to fit half the goddamn comic in one and a half hour
>Mignola's involved, guess he learned his lesson
>Director did Ghost Rider 2, which was cool, frick you
On the other hand
>You know they're going to toss the Ogdru Jahad in the plot somehow
>Ghost Rider 2 completely failed to keep people interested in the character
>Just as likely to be tossed aside with comic book fatigue
Not trusting Mignola after he lied about that Godawful reboot.
This.
I love Hellboy, but Mignola's words mean absolutely nothing at this point.
After the past 2 flicks, I'm optimistically cautious at best.
I'd really rather a TV series so they could adapt the shorter form stories
Hellboy would benefit from a break from movies and doing an adult animated series. Something moody and dark.
I just watch the fan dub on youtube instead.
Hellboy is so easy to get right, and they consistently get it wrong
These frickers overthink it. It's all so straightforward. I think if they stuck to an animated movie, to better emulate the anesthetics of the comic and even e
improve, they wouldn't feel as tempted to deviate so egregiously.
The actual Hellboy animated movies were alright though I think I'd rather see something more like Screw on Head.

I like them too. This image is probably the best I've seen that could work.
I’ve been meaning to get around to these. Perhaps this is the push I needed.
They're bretty gud. I liked Blood and Iron a bit more than Sword of Storms personally, but they're both fun.
Yeah it feels like what a Hellboy animated TV series could be. Hellboy goes up against some mythology of the episode and it's a good time.
You have me picturing a better version of something like the old Spawn Animated Series
They made some hellboy animated comics, and the introduction talks about a tv series that never got made
We had 2 animated Hellboy movies
No, I'm aware. I'm just saying as far as full-length movies.
We could have had more
Yes there was a 3rd one that got cancelled
Just like the 3rd live action movie
Hellboy is the half-life of movies
Wait are the movies bad? I never read the comics and I like both movies a lot
I also like the Del Toro movies but they are there own beast and not particularly comic accurate.
Ooh shit i see it now. Just googled it.
There was a movie that came out in 2019, that one fell off my radar so it must be as awful as anons are saying here
The Del Toro ones came out when I was a child so I can't say if they hold up nowadays
It's pretty bad, it feels like they tried to make 3 movies all at once (Red Queen, Wild Hunt and just solo Hellboy movie in general). Think of BvS
>previous movie was trash
>budget is 2 Pepsi cans
>literally who as main lead
>story itself is extremely short, there's not enough stuff to justify 1,5 hours-2 hours
>the entire thing was shot in the span of, like, 2 months? Brah. Literally speedrun
I am not holding my breath
>forgot to add: zero promotion, despite movie coming out next year
If you filmed it so fast, there's only editing and CGI left. You sure movie is done?
The Crooked Man was a good story but how the hell are they gonna stretch it out for a full theatrical movie?
The voiced comic version on youtube is already 45 minutes long, and that's just from panel-to-panel reading. It's not unreasonable to get it to reach one and a half hour with more flair, and extra stuff like presenting the BPRD or the Ogrdu
Everything being tied to the Ogrdu is gay.
Honestly for all their inaccuracy the Del Toro films at least felt like they gave a shit beyond just having the license and wanting to ride comic movie hype
They have soul. You can feel the love in them.
I like the Del Taco films but they're terrible Hellboy movies, it's mostly a vehicle for his cool monster designs. The only change I really like about them is how they elevated Bruttenholm's character, Hellboy as a character kinda sucks (Perlman's acting notwithstanding) and the weird romance between him and Liz is awful. Also hated how they turned the BPRD into a secret government agency, what I always liked about Hellboy's setting was how intertwined the supernatural was regarded in the world.
Honestly for me personally, "Hellboy in Mexico" was a better story for me. Although, "Hellboy: The Crooked Man" had great dialogue (like Eric Powell's The Hillbilly).
I want to read Hellboy. Are the Library editions still the best version to buy?
They're the versions I have and I like them a lot. There's a new frick huge monster sized edition but it honestly looks a bit unweildly to me.
wow
