There a special place in hell for the people who made it and thought it was a good idea to release it
          >The worst interpretation of zod story in DC history
          >Some random ass death plot mystery that was so obvious that I thought it was a joke
          > Season finally that could only be described as something from the cw

            >most of the Kryptonian prisoners were minorities
            >the prison work gangs sang songs reminiscent of cotton field slave hymns while doing manual labor
            >By the end of the season, General Zod is out of the picture leaving his wife alone to raise their infant son as a single parent
            >Rocket is a also a single mom who can't handle her child's frequent outbursts

There ended up being a lot of unintentional racism in that story arc.

Rocket being a single mom isn't new to Young Justice, which just goes to show how little people know about Rocket.

It's fine if she's a single mom like in the Milestone comics but they made her seem like a bad mom because she would rather frick off to New Genesis than stay home a deal with her child's behavior problems. The Justice League could have sent anyone else in her place and Jay Garrick (who has decades more experience than her) was already going.

There were a couple of times when they were shown working together in the background when lots of heroes were being shown rescuing civilians. It was mostly a blink and you'll miss it sort of thing though. There were a lot of interesting characters who didn't get nearly enough screentime.

It's frustrating because there were some elements in S3 and S4 that I really liked, but then then there were so many weird decisions that the writers made that kept pulling me out of the story.

This. When they introduced this new "kind alien race uplifting humanity", I already started to count the episodes until they were removed because they were so lame they couldn't possibly be the big enemy for the rest of the series and lo and behold, I was right. Season 2 is wheel spinning: the season.

The show became just plot plot plot and didn't focus on the characters really like the timeskip shit ruined it cause we barely saw them as a team in the first place.

          Anonymous

They tried to remedy that in S4 by giving each character their own mini arc but that backfired because a lot of times, the main character ended up feeling like a side character in their own arc while the story was focused on someone else. Aqualad, Zatanna and Rocket's arcs were especially bad about this.

            Anonymous

Zatanna's lack of presence in her arc both kept her true intentions hidden and she deliberately did it on purpose to have her proteges save the day and come off as worth hosts of Nabu. Kaldur'ahm's entire arc was about how passive he was and only cared about his duties to his own detriment.

I'll give you Rocket, though. She could've benefited from a more grounded arc in Dakota that actually explored her supporting cast and their relationships to them, even if I had fun with New Genesis and the GL:TAS tribute episode.

This may have been unintended, but it made Zatanna look selfish for being willing to sacrifice her students to save her father. It wouldn't have been as big of an issue if she was more honest with them from the beginning.

                Anonymous

That arc felt jarring because it didnt portray her being in the grey area and even had her bullshit her students into buying that being a host for dr.fate was a good idea but had no one call her out on being a scumbag

She's done morally questionable things before like deceiving Artemis with the Wally illusion because she was trying to help Artemis deal with her grief faster.

It might have worked better if it was something that was gradually built up over a whole season versus something that happened over a short arc.

They couldve even at the are minimum had her father question his daughter using her student as a sacrifice to save him but all they did was have him rant about being a devoted christian and thanking god that his daughter was a shit enough person to get him out of there

It would have been interesting because the only reason that he agreed to become Dr. Fate to begin with was to prevent the helmet from perminantly claiming a younger host (Zatanna, Wally, Kaldur, etc.). His reasoning was that he was already an old man and that the younger hosts should be spared.

They actually have Zatara bring it up in the episode itself, but then relents to his daughter. It's not like he's entirely free from it since he has to wear it on the fourth week of each month. Zatanna also included herself in the rotation, so it's not like she was just dooming others for her own satisfaction.

If it was just her and her father trading the responsibility back and forth that would be one thing but she involved her students.

                Anonymous

It's not just the students who ended up as Fate's new hosts. Zatanna is also partially responsible for Mary ending up getting captured and brainwashed by Granny Goodness and Darkseid.

                Anonymous

Again, Zatanna even thinking about the idea is what triggered Child's presence on Earth. You could build up her having students or trying to find other ways to free her father, but that's really all you can do. I think her even trying to find ways to free him was a cut subplot from season 2.

It would have been interesting because the only reason that he agreed to become Dr. Fate to begin with was to prevent the helmet from perminantly claiming a younger host (Zatanna, Wally, Kaldur, etc.). His reasoning was that he was already an old man and that the younger hosts should be spared.

To be fair, Giovanni didn't look that old. Probably 40s at most. Nabu aged him like shit.

                Anonymous

That contradicts what was said in an earlier season though because Nabu was using magic to extend the life of his current host Kent Nelson until Nabu could find a suitable replacement.

                Anonymous

Kent Nelson was already dead when that happened. His body was buried at a funeral. His spirit was in helmet, keeping Nabu company and advocating for the right host (and keeping Wally and Kaldur from becoming hosts) until the spirit left when Zatanna put on the helmet. Nelson also lived up to 100 years, but he also spent a long time without the helmet. He probably would've died younger if he kept it on.

She only thought of it right before Child was summoned to Earth (and even caused it), so I could see why she didn't tell them immediately. And there was no manipulation. She was going to approach them about it before Mary forced her to reveal everything. It's a bit iffy with Traci since she was right before turning 18, but everyone else were adults.

I think it only comes off that way because that's what Khalid thought, but Zatanna didn't answer his concerns any way, which made her seem suspicious. Though I don't know if telling the truth would've changed Khalid's mind much.

It's not just that arc. Aqualad is so boring that everyone sort of forgot he was there.

Honestly the show miss the chance to make Zatanna as a more complex and endearing character. I think if they use "Show don't Tell" it's could far more benefiting the show. Show the audience how hard for Zatanna to think about the rotation host, explore how Zatanna feel guilty as her proposal of love is causing Chaos to ran amok and causing thousands of casualties, Let the Audience show how frustrated she is trying to free her father with various ways. Have her trying to contact Nabu nemesis, Wotan but it's end backfired on her and that's way we can connect it to why Zatanna is cautious when Artemis threatened to meet Wotan if Zatanna doesn't help her meet Wally

She's done morally questionable things before like deceiving Artemis with the Wally illusion because she was trying to help Artemis deal with her grief faster.

They'd have to cut Halo's pronouns plot and Beast Boy's depression plot to fit all that in.

As much as relatable Beast Boy deppresion is, it's really suck as he basically doing nothing and usually hijacking when the main plot of Zatanna arc got heated up. Also talk about guilts of causing death to the other, they have great chances of incorporating to Zatanna and implementing it naturally to the plot. Even though she is not to blamed for the death of thousands during Child rampage, the thought of indirectly causing massive suffering could really flesh out Zatanna character. I kinda hope Phantom Stranger or Khalid do give her know that her hands is basically covered with blood of thousands and revealing how painful that knowledge to her

Season one wasn't good either. It was all generic shipping nonsense by flat characters that used catchphrases as a means of characterization, but because every other episode ended with a bunch of silhouettes saying "all according to keikaku" you guys convinced yourselves there was some kind of deeper plot going on.
Also the core premise of it was fricking stupid. Batman forms a team to take off the books missions that the Justice League can't be associated with and then staffs it with sidekicks wearing the logos of the Justice League?

It might have worked with a bunch of unknowns but it several of the characters were already established as heroes in universe. It was common knowledge that Robin was Batman's partner and the public had already seen them fighting crime together.

Savage shrugs off the anti-life equation and beats Darkseid and the entire army of Apokalips singlehandled while all of the superheroes and supervillains stand around and clap politely.

Evolution is one of the best episodes in the series. It gave Savage the development he needed, revealed the entire deal between The Light and Apokolips, and used the storytime format in an effective way before the rest of the season used it as a cost-cutting method. That and Private Security are the only episodes of season 3 I rewatch.

I don't really get the Savage wank arguments, though. The show balanced out his accomplishments with reminders of what a piece of shit he was and how he's not as competent as he pretends to be. Screwing over Arion, Nabu, and Olympia, his hubris being the reason Atlantis sunk and Starro was summoned to Earth, and the complete fiasco that was Project Thrinos. Fate coming over to rub the last one in his face was great.

I could bear watching season 2, but wasn't impressed by it. It had some entertaining stuff. None of the magic of season 1.

The recent Voltron had a fine first season, as did Legend of Korra. Both shows presented things they intended and tried pretty well. Nothing good followed for the other seasons. I feel the same way about Wakfu. It's just sad that follow-up seasons don't Improve on what's attempted so often.

Anyone else think Superboy and Miss Martian are more entertaining when they're not being a couple? I found their romance subplots completely insufferable. That probably makes me sound bitter and alone but I actually really liked Wally/Artemis and Roy/Jade. Connor/Megan just made me cringe

No, I agree. Both characters are interesting by themselves, but their romance was very cliche and schmaltzy. I never liked how Conner took her back and then when he expressed some doubt over M'gann mind blasting her teammates (even if for the good of a mission) they had him apologize to her over it. I want a season 5 so that, if nothing else, the show doesn't end on their wedding.
