Watching the 1st one right now, had never seen it and am not a zoomer and it's damn good so far, there's hardly any boring minute (came here to post while taking a piss break)
Are any sequels worth watching?

STOP POSTING HERE AND COME BACK ONCE YOU'VE FINISHED WATCHING THE MOVIE. WE WILL BE HAPPY TO DISCUSS THE FILM WITH YOU ONCE YOU'VE FINISHED WATCHING IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH. YOU MAY WISH TO CONSIDER SKIPPING BACK TO THE PARTS THAT YOU MISSED BY WRITING THIS POST. I JUST READ YOUR PART ABOUT THE PISS BREAK SO NEVER MIND THAT LAST BIT.
>Are any sequels worth watching?
Not really. 2 has some good scenes but overall I didn't like it.
2 is also very good if not a little bit different. i recommend the joe bob briggs the last drive in episodes of hellraiser 1 & 2. they are good. enjoy the movie
Boring and stupid. The budget was clearly blown on the special effects.
>The budget was clearly blown on the special effects.
And that imagery is iconic in horror, so it paid off
It's an especially stupid comment that he made, because the budget was famously a paltry $1M. Even taking into account that this is late 1980s money, it's still very modest, and just the dividing line between a real B-movie and something which is aspiring to be a little more, which is what this turned out to be. The other commenter fails to appreciate that they wrung every last bit of Movie/Value out of that modest budget, veering towards visuals and special effects, yes, but the performances, although basic, aren't terrible.
The performances by Julia and the cuck husband are stilted in places, yes, but they get the money where it counts. Julia is this gorgeous messed-up middle-aged b***h in her bathroom mirror immediately after she's committed murder, and has to keep her weak cuck husband at bay. The cuck husband (as Frank) delivers a delicious Come To Daddy, prompting Kirsty's horror. Real great play of a movie, would work well on the stage.
For an example of a low-budget horror/thriller thing with really bad acting, look at Cube. The actors there do a bit worse.
The guy who played Quentin in Cube was pretty good.
The actors all basically did their jobs, but none of them was (were?) very impressive in their roles. Cube is a great nerd concept that we naturally enjoy round these parts but the actors were community-theater tier, as per the budget. Seriously, when I revisited it once I got older I still enjoyed the central concept but the actors' amateurish performances really do detract from the appeal, especially as we have to slog through the second act.
The blonde's ass in Cube 2 was out of this world, always going up and down the ladders
need proof
Hmmmmmm but does it fit with 40k?
and to think... I hesitated
1 & 2 and great horror movies. Also Barkers books are fantastic
How much of a homosexual do you have to be to pause a movie just to post about how you are liking it so far.
>inb4 b b b but muh piss break
you would have done it anyways. Who am i kidding? You probably did not even pause the movie. You are glued to your phone anyways.
OP here
So I have some replies and comments when the movie is over (such as now)
But yeah great movie
Okay i am sorry
Okay OP, now that you (seem to) have watched the movie all the way through, I will share my pet theory.
Remember that scene in the middle of the film when the light-skinned black doctor gives the box back to Kirsty? He's played by the minor actor Raul Newney, who (I guess) did some Star Trek stuff and other little roles around that time.
Do you also remember how the box is brought back at the very end, so that the cycle repeats? My fan theory is that the doctor character is the next customer. This makes sense on multiple levels when you think about it: the guy shown in silhouette has short curly hair and a big nose, like Newney. The doctor character had the box in his possession just long enough to get curious about it. And upon giving it back up to her, he has enough time to regret giving it up, not exploring it for himself (as Kirsty explores her box (heh) with delight before unleashing the pathway to hell). Finally, the idea that a doctor obsesses over the object is a perfect segue to the sequel.
The sequel is one of the most disturbing, evil horror movies ever made
2 is a good movie. 3 is a fun movie, but it's dumb as hell, same with 4. 5 is a decent movie but it's where they started forcing the cenobites into unrelated scripts. Anything after that, good luck
Watched this recently for the first time (I am a zoomer) and agree it was damn good. It was like Nightmare on Elm Street crossed with Possession, really fun movie.
THE THREAD
YOU OPENEND IT
OH, NO JANNIES PLEASE
THEY'RE A WASTE OF GOOD EMPLOYMENT
Why did Hulu make the reboot so gay and woke?
They wanted to make you really feel like you were in hell.
Hellraiser has always been pretty gay. Go look up Clive Barker and then go hate on gays somewhere else, you fake fan.
gays deserve aids and slow death let’s be real here
I agree but also had sex with one, what does that make me? I kinda feel like the dad in american beauty, not spacey but the braindead homosexual redneck except I'm autistic and have 130iq, so I'm seemingly more than a midwit and yet, fall victim to decisions well within my control that contradict my value system
It makes you a homosexual, did you think you were special or something
I'm not a homosexual, your opinion fails to account for the other contradicting evidence.
I have also only ever had relationships with women, and have no attraction to men romantically or physically.

If you have sex with a man, you're gay. This isn't some big revelation. It doesn't matter if you're gay but you are gay.
Clive Barker is a self hating gay
The books are literally about how his hedonistic lifestyle and quest for orgasms leads to destruction
have a nice day, homosexual
2 is good. Everything that came after became progressively worse. The latest Hellraiser movie had some good moments but overall sucked.
First one is good.
The 2nd one I regretted watching, it's good in the final 15 minutes when they're in hell but the first hour is fricking terrible.
3rd one has a hot girl
not gonna delete last post and repost with pic but here, for reference.
Hellraiser 2 ruins it by making the cenobites less mysterious. In the first one it feels like they're operating by a code alien to human values, from 2 on they feel more like standard Christian demons inflicting punishment for sin.
The only ones worth watching after this are the immediate sequel Hellraiser 2 Hellbound and the most recent remake on Hulu. Hellseeker is kind of cool because it brings back best girl and Judgment is worth watching if you like gross out stuff, but otherwise the rest are garbage
They should make a good Thief Of Always movie
I really didn't get the mother
She got raped at knifepoint, then helps the guy who raped her out for some reason?
wtf explain
women are prostitutes who secretly love to be dominated. the movie doesn't show it, but in the original story it was more that she led him upstairs away from others and was basically teasing him into raping her because she wanted it so badly, book literally talks about how she cucked her fiancee on the eve of their wedding because she met his bad boy brother and her c**t wouldn't stop leaking in his presence
mamma mia
The cenobites should've fricked her up for that instead of the guy
She was a fricked up b***h who loved Frank because he was a twisted sexy piece of shit. She was meant to be a recurring villain throughout the series but she quit after 2 because she thought the films were too trashy (probably because of her sex scene in 2)
The first four are worth watching depending on how much you actually enjoyed the first one.
