You see he is trying to balance his life with Octavia in ep 2 and in his confrontation with Stella on the balcony he says he tried to make things work with Stella and it was "never enough". And those are the most serious accusations against Stolas. Meanwhile Stella has tried to have Stolas killed for money. This shows she gives zero shits about him or her daughter since she is willing to deprive her of a father. She is just an evil person and she owns up to "I like tormenting you". This is an open and shut case of Stella is a bad person and Stolas is a victim of fate trying to balance his duties to his family dynasty, his love for his daughter, his personal reputation, and his personal desires for love and happiness. And the show makes this so obvious it puts it in song form.

They take their head canon, what they think the show 'should be about' ("I know stella admited to being pure evil but she shouldn't be written that way, she should be written as I want her to"), or just take whatever they are neurotic about (people are often neurotic about the "treatment of female characters"), and channel that argument through this. Stolas not only let him get out of trouble for punishment he would have deserved but let him keep using the thing he initially tried to steal. Then later by the end of season 1 we find out he was only using it as an excuse to keep blitz around for reasons besides sex, blitz is at least somewhat interested in stolas, and stolas would give him a way to travel without relying on him based on the first point. You could argue anything is needed depending on what it's needed for. To live you don't need much and people who have tons of money still lack comfort. Stella's based on a secretary bird and still looks like that when sleeping so it may be natural for her. Loona canonically wears makeup but it's hard to say how much exactly and how that interacts with her fur.

The writer essentially says "hate this character and like this character" but i don't care what the writer says, the moment they put their thing out there they have no control over it and no, i will not like your pets. At least make the favoritism less obvious, Jesus. It can't count as writer's barely disguised fetish if it's not disguised at all i guess.

Obviously Viv can't stop people from still liking Stella (hell there's even some merch of her) but at this point if you're still stomping your feet and insisting you like her while allowing yourself to be let down by the show's handling of her, that's on you.
The more you try to force something the more you will make people resist it. People will obviously start to dislike stolas or any other character that the writer made their pet that they want people to like so they bend over the narrative and raw dog it so it presents their chosen pet character in more favorable light at the expense of other characters rather than the narrative being impartial.

Nobody has ever denied this. It's just that Stella's not a character worth fighting for. That's why nobody gives a shit.

It doesn't matter if you root for stella or not. The very fact that Writer's own opinion bleeds into the narrative and that Viv tries to force it so the audience likes the character she wants them to like, instead of removing herself from it and just trying to tell the story, ensures that the opposite of what she wants will happen.
She could make Stella a pedo, a child torturer and rapist, a cannibal, the embodiment of all evil with zero things justifying liking her. It doesn't matter andit doesn't matter specifically because the writer went out of their way to make this specific character, that they don't like, as unlikeable as possible in a very transparent way, making their hand and their intention very visible. This shatters this sort of immersion in the story, the verisimilitude, the internal consistency of the fictional world. It turns something believable into"oh it is so because the writer said so" instead of having the audienceaccept something on faith alone by being immersed in the story that makes sense within itself. As a writer, do not make your hand so overtly visible in your stuff, otherwise, it will just ensure that whatever you wnat to pull off will just fall flat or wont have the impact you desire. Viv is a fringe spiteful case of it where she just throws a narrative equivalent of a tantrum and draws a villanous twirly mustache on her old work. But there are also cases where you can overdo things where it comes off as obvious emotional manipulation to the audience, making them aware that YOU the writer intends them to feel bad at this moment for this specific characters and nothing shatters the illusion more than making audience aware of your existence as a writer in the context of your story.
Don't force it, just let it flow like a river with a current.

Obviously Viv can't stop people from still liking Stella (hell there's even some merch of her) but at this point if you're still stomping your feet and insisting you like her while allowing yourself to be let down by the show's handling of her, that's on you.

It doesn't matter if you root for stella or not. The very fact that Writer's own opinion bleeds into the narrative and that Viv tries to force it so the audience likes the character she wants them to like, instead of removing herself from it and just trying to tell the story, ensures that the opposite of what she wants will happen.
She could make Stella a pedo, a child torturer and rapist, a cannibal, the embodiment of all evil with zero things justifying liking her. It doesn't matter andit doesn't matter specifically because the writer went out of their way to make this specific character, that they don't like, as unlikeable as possible in a very transparent way, making their hand and their intention very visible. This shatters this sort of immersion in the story, the verisimilitude, the internal consistency of the fictional world. It turns something believable into"oh it is so because the writer said so" instead of having the audienceaccept something on faith alone by being immersed in the story that makes sense within itself. As a writer, do not make your hand so overtly visible in your stuff, otherwise, it will just ensure that whatever you wnat to pull off will just fall flat or wont have the impact you desire. Viv is a fringe spiteful case of it where she just throws a narrative equivalent of a tantrum and draws a villanous twirly mustache on her old work. But there are also cases where you can overdo things where it comes off as obvious emotional manipulation to the audience, making them aware that YOU the writer intends them to feel bad at this moment for this specific characters and nothing shatters the illusion more than making audience aware of your existence as a writer in the context of your story.

Stolas entire situation is one of his own making from everything we've seen in the show. He could've divorced Stella the day she dropped that egg and be drama free for the rest of his life, but chose otherwise because he wanted to force everyone to live a lie for his own comfort.
And just looking at things objectively Stella gets a raw deal no matter what she does. Forced into a marriage with a gay twink. Forced to lay and raise an egg she didn't want. Has to play by her family rules or she's disinherited. Have to play by her husband delusions or she's divorced.
