Sorry mates, I'm not jumping on whatever newly formed hate bad wagon this is. Emma Stone has performed many roles over her 20 year career, definitely earned her game with talent, and has played roles Cinemaphile considers definitive. If you guys are mad that someone's parents works hard to put them in a position of good fortune, you need to get a life.

She said doing the show was driving her crazy and giving her anxiety and panic attacks every week and wanted to finally get the hell out for the sake of her mental health or something to that effect. Not surprised she always has that uncomfortable to be on camera nervous demeanor and didn’t seem to gel with the show most the time, she was there like 6 years and barely got much airtime her whole run.

The premise for a skit is enough to provide at MOST 90 seconds of material. But no, they stretched it out to over four minutes. One (mediocre) joke. Over four minutes. Good lord.

        Anonymous

Are you high? Some of the best sketches in history have literally been nothing other than just 4-5 minutes of heightening the same premise over and over. I don’t want you to misunderstand and think I’m also suggesting that that’s somehow a recipe for success, because it’s not- I’m just saying what you’ve pointed out isn’t actually a valid criticism of the writing

Yeah, that’s one of the most beloved and popular sketches in the history of the show. And it’s literally just one joke. All they do is introduce the premise in the first minute, and then just increase the tension and raise the stakes every 30 seconds or so until it becomes ridiculous. It’s fine if you personally don’t find that funny, it’s just the fact it’s one of the most popular and most enduring sketches of the history of the show points out that the overwhelming majority of people disagree with you

Okay now you’re just naming old recurring sketches you can remember off the top of your head, because those are in no world considered beloved SNL classics.

Also you mentioned the Blue Oyster Cult “More Cowbell” sketch, that is literally another example of exactly what I was talking about- it’s one joke, one premise, and then all they do is heighten and raise tension for five minutes and it is literally one of the most well liked and memorable sketches in the history of the show

                Anonymous

                >old recurring sketches off the top of your head
No, I'm naming sketches that I liked from The Best of Jimmy Fallon, who was one of the most talented cast members of the last 25 years (despite the fact that he couldn't keep a straight face).
                >one joke, one premise, etc.
The more cowbell sketch isn't one joke or premise. The unique jokes and premises include:
                >the cowbell's role in the song as a joke
                >the big-shot music producer who makes silly analogies and treats everything like business
                >the musicians having creative differences about a silly musical instrument and its application
                >disagreements between the band members trying to "make it"
How dare you suggest it's a single joke or premise that makes the sketch funny.

                Anonymous

Dude, the entire sketch is one joke- the pointing out and highlighting the fact that Don’t Fear the Reaper has a really weird sound mixing where there’s this cowbell sound mixed in really prominently. They introduce that and simply repeat it getting increasingly louder and more aggressive and more ridiculous over the course of5 minutes. That’s the whole joke.

Repeating individual lines are not actually the premise or the structure of the sketch. From a writing perspective this sketch, which is one of the most popular and rewatched in the history of the show, only has one joke. And they just keep repeating it about half a dozen times, and the only change they make is slowly increasing the intensity. That’s literally it.

Yeah big time woke SJW type, she looked even more upset than Bowen Yang when Chappelle was on the stage last week. Either that or she’s just racist and didn’t like a black guy on the stage lel if that’s the case then based

Tried to make a webm of it but it’s not working so frick it twitter link of the video lmao @ that cartoonish double take shot does then make an “ewww transphobia, not cool!” triggered face and rubbing Bowens back in moral support, what a brave lgbt ally!

Lmao these two will definitely be boycotting the Shane episode (the they/them b***h too probably) pulling a Nora Dunn when Andrew Dice Clay hosted in 1990 who quit SNL out of protest of that problematic white man hosting with his misogynist comedy (Sinead dropped out as musical guest from that episode too lol

Where did this moronic idea that any of them are beefing with each other come from? They’re all in the same alternative NY comedy scene. They literally do shows together and have for years. SNL were the ones that fired Shane and hired Bowen, but he had nothing to do with it. If you and somebody you went to school with were up for the same job and they went with you instead of them it doesn’t mean you now hate them. Lmao do you think that SNL got rid of Shane because Bowen told them to or something?

Yeah, Bowen Wang telling all the irate lefties at the AVClub and on Twitter that they need to get over their sensitivity, that Shane is a good guy who was using slurs ironically, totally seems like something that will happen.

What are you talking about you schizo. You’ve completely invented this imaginary feud and are now getting mad at people for things you imagined they said or might say someday in the future

I think you have me confused with someone else, I’m agreeing with you. Bowen Yang is a huge fan of white guys doing racial humor. He’s nothing like Jimmy Yang, Daniel Dae Kim, Simu Liu, that Asian chick, and others who were loudly talking about how awful and racist it was. Obviously he doesn’t have a problem with a straight white guy making jokes about white people leaving predominantly Asian neighborhoods for the “fricking chinks.”

As far as I know he’s never said anything one way or the other regarding Shane. They do run in the same comedy circles in New York, so they do a lot of the same clubs and have mutual friends, but that’s about it. I don’t think he’s going to boycott the show, but I also don’t think he’s going to be waiting with a bunch of balloons and a banner that says “Welcome Back Shane!” or anything either. There’s probably going to be a handful of jokes in the monologue about how Shane was fired 5 years ago and now they’re asking him back to host, and that’s probably going to be about it. It’s still just a sketch comedy show, it’s not Maury

The Aubrey Plaza and Whispering in Monotone lines were nasty and Dakota was great for allowing such deep cuts. I hope those guys work with Dakota again they understood exactly how to use her and made an excellent sketch out of it.

Imagine watching SNL now. Imagine thinking that thing in OP's pic related is funny. Imagine even listening to her at all after she makes it clear she's anti-White. (And I would say the same if she were virulently anti-Black, etc.)

That’s the catch 22 though, isn’t it. People that post here don’t actually care about women’s personalities. They either moronically think they’ll automatically change everything about themselves and just go with whatever some guy tells them, or they’re completely uninterested one way or the other.
The reason that’s a catch 22 is because ironically it’s that lack of interest that prevents them from ever dating women like that. It’s why Cinemaphile is full of incels constantly oscillating back and forth from suicidal sadness and loneliness to violent rage at their inability to attract a mate. You don’t see that on other message boards. And there’s a reason for that

I've watched her stand up, not funny.
I watched her on snl, but modern snl is almost never funny.
I saw her on the cumtown guy's podcast. She didn't even make just, just talked about stuff that made her anxious and got roasted for going to therapy twice a week. Apparently she has "generational trauma from the holocaust".

Honestly, I think she wears the stupid outfits to cover up that she's a weak act and a nepo hire.
