The movies got progressively worse. I blame the clown college focus group that vetoed the original plan for the second movie: Hiccup's long lost mom shows up, she's become a wild woman that lives among the dragons, she's soured on humanity and she wants to put an end to her son's Dragon-Viking teamup because she thinks in the long run it will ruin what makes dragons wonderful. She had the loyalty of a great dragon because she's spent a decade earning dragons' trust.
Some fricktarded morons said "No, we need a generic villain that does evil things because he's so evil, and he hates dragons, and he has control over a great dragon because... well he just does, no explanation needed." It all went downhill from there.
Would a more accurate adaptation of the books be better? They had some viking and roman characters afiak, it would be nice seeing more realistic vikings or even anglosaxons and wends with like an actual army go up against tiny Berk and their dragons with like an Archimedes character designing anti dragon machines
Having read the books... Not using the books was the best thing the films did. While they're not dogshit, it's an uphill struggle to even call them "Good".
I think the second movie she looked best, but while she isn't "ugly" she also isn't traditional pretty in the first place
