Yes, it was very good. I just wish the show had had a bit more Franklin, Ciaran Hinds is an excellent actor but he's rarely ever used to the full extent of his abilities.
Watching Ciaran and Jared eat the screen together was such a fricking pleasure to watch, it's a shame Ciaran wasn't in it for long but his final episode was one of the best.
I agree. One thing I like about this show was that it included a fair bit of monologue and I'm glad he got a good one, his speech towards Crozier was excellent. I also like the eucharist monologue, I wish more shows would let their actors shine the way this one did.
I feel like Jared Harris and Ciaran Hinds gained some weight for the roles, or they made them look fatter (Franklin was fat and Crozier obviously needed to lose weight along the way). Though yes, Navy uniforms are going to look better than shitty modern suits.
Yes, yes, but what character could he have played in Rome? Cato? Pompei?
Cassius, who should have gotten more screen time in Rome. I didn't like that they made Brutus a push over with mommy issues. It could have been done well, but it wasn't fleshed out enough.
The actor they hired for Goodsir is really spot on. I love the actors and wouldn't change a thing, but it's a bit of a shame they couldn't have done this when some of them were younger, it would have made it more tragic and in keeping with reality.
I loved Jared Harris from way back when because of "I Shot Andy Warhol." For me, he's the best (maybe the only really good) screen Warhol. It's nice to see him considered "cool" and getting some proper recognition.
I think that applies to Harris and Menzies as well, this show had such an excellent cast.
In some alternate timeline there was a late 1960s movie about the terror expedition with Richard Burton as franklin, Richard harris playing crozier, and Peter o'toole as fitzjames
Richard Harris as Crozier would have been incredible. Glad at least one Harris got the job.

kinomancer triumvirate
Yup, add any one of those three actors to your production and it immediately elevates it. Adding all three almost becomes unfair.

wow they look way more scrawny in modern suits
why are modern suits so lame?
Not sure it's fair to compare casual stuff to maritime uniforms

By Jove, I forgot my pic.

Catiline. 100%
Many hairy arses.
Kino
It was mass hallucination.
Why are you telling that dumbfrick to watch the show? He said it looks uncomfy, you should be gatekeeping kino from morons like that!
The moronic bear ruined it for me.
aka you got filtered
It represents the depravity of men when they are brought to the brink
It wasn't r*tarded, it was inuit.
So I've heard in previous threads that season 2 is really shit. Am I really going to ruin my perspective of the show if I watch it?
It has nothing to do with the Franklin expedition, they basically took what was meant to be a miniseries and turned it into an anthology.
The actor they hired for Goodsir is really spot on. I love the actors and wouldn't change a thing, but it's a bit of a shame they couldn't have done this when some of them were younger, it would have made it more tragic and in keeping with reality.
guy on the right looks just like the guy from return of the living dead if he died his hair and never aged since the 80s.

Ciaran Hinds is such a kino actor, I remember seeing him in the second Tomb Raider movie and thinking he was awesome.
He has an all-time great voice, imo, that helps a lot.
