Yes, I'm sure he was chosen over the hundreds of caucasian actors who are ethnically perfect for the role due to acting chops, and not because ~~*they*~~ wanted an arab playing Hamlet.
Thankfully the general audience are fed up with this cultural appropriation and it's all failing.
Film adaptations of Shakespeare are pretty niche anyway. The average person isn't even aware both Fassbender and Denzel Washington have done film adaptations of Macbeth in the last 9 years, for example.
He has a point though. People need role models. White people got Captain America and billions of other inspiring heroes. The only time arabs get to look cool and based is in terrorist propaganda clips.
His comments are the most self serving in the history of the world. He's saying 'I should be in more movies or there'll be more terrorism.' What a joke
You're a lazy second gen fat kid who doesn't want to learn your parent's language, or they were too busy getting their new Western paychecks to teach you, so you don't understand any of the literature or television from your original country. This is not white people's fault.
white people have no role models if you think some cartoon goyslop comic book cracker jack shit is a real role model
it’s just something people like and you’re projecting your fatherless brown inferiority
How is he wrong? If all media just depicts Muslims as evil terrorists and irl they have to suffer the anti-muslim rhetoric and mistreatment that the west encourages, why wouldn’t people find the messaging that Isis provided appealing? One side says you’re evil incarnate and mistreats you and the other says join us and we’ll give you paradise.
People need representation and positive role models. Why is it so hard for white people to understand when you immediately start crying when every movie and show isn’t about you by default and some of them instead represents other people? How cannot you understand it’s way worse for other people who’ve barely has any representation where as you’ve been represented all your life so much you never had to even think about it?
It's not racism at all. The solution to your problem is to go back to where you come from. You'll be part of the ethnic majority and have plenty of representation.
You are a racist. Millions of people live in the country by being born there. You are advocating openly racist shit and are too cowardly to not to lie about it.

It's not racist. A one way ticket back to where you come from is the solution.
To play Hamlet well, you have to have an extremely high sensitivity and keen perception and understanding of exestential dread/crisis. He's a character in a constant state of dismay and despairing. In a sense it's a relatively simple role if you have this knowledge, but aren't in an actual state of dismay and despair yourself. And this is probably why playing Hamlet turns many actors into alcoholics.
imo, Olivier is the best to ever do it. He had this understanding. Burton had the chops but comes up a bit short. Rest I've seen don't really do the character justice. But all Shakespeare is best seen live. You miss a lot of the drama when it's adapted to film. My 2 cents. I don't personally see Ahmed bringing anything unique or worthwhile to the role, he certainly doesn't strike me as a Hamlet, but I'll probably watch it at some point.
Do you think hamlet was a real person? I get it if he was an actual danish prince but the story is made up. I'm not for Cleopatra being a nog but this is nothing. If the new Juliet wasn't a full on baboon would you care?
>a good actor is a white actor for me
That's racial prejudice, objectively speaking. Anyone can be a good actor so long as they have a firm understanding of the passions and can convery them faithfully and without bias in a theatrical setting. I'm not 'calling it whatever I want', I'm calling it what it is: racial prejudice. Maybe you aren't as self-aware as I thought.

Why are leftists such dishonest people? I stated that good at acting is necessary. Sure, a good actor must have a firm understanding of the passions and can convey them faithfully. And they must also be white, for white roles, because they also NEED to fit the look in my mind or I don't like it. Simple as. The right look is essential and without it, you are not a good actor.

Well we've had dozens of white actors play Othello, who is a moor, but I'm sure you're okay with that because it suits your racial prejudice, huh? I'm personally okay with a white Othello or a black Macbeth, like Denzel, who played a great Macbeth. Or were you unable to accept his more than suitable portrayl of Macbeth because in your mind he has to be white?

Your standards being lower is your choice, anon. I have my standards and unlike you I gain no pleasure from stooping.
A lot of shakespeare adaptations just focus on the story and themes of the play without bothering with any kind of historical accuracy. Unless they try to sell this as some super historically accurate thing, I don't care, and even the he's not even that ethnic.
Shakespeare plays are insanely inaccurate to begin with because he changed shit just to pander to the ruling class of the day the plays were written in.
Aneil Karia
He and Riz won the short film Oscar a couple of years ago. This is his 2nd feature film. He did some episodes of one of the recent seasons of Top Boy too, infact I think the main girl in that makes a cameo as Fortinbras
Yeah he did Surge
Main producer on this works with the likes of Jonathan Glazer and Lynne Ramsay. Already seen it being described as 'super avant-garde' so expecting a more artsy take on this one too.
Nah she'll be a good Ophelia, pretty much the perfect role for her
She does seem to get involved in alot of 'diverse' remakes of classic British literature though lel
If you get out of the headspace of being a Cinemaphile reactionary -
She comes from a Shakespeare background, played Cordelia in the King Lear production with Glenda Jackson who was pretty much acting legend in the UK
He last two film roles (critically acclaimed in both) were playing a sweet girl who is the love interest of the MC and then playing a crazy woman who kills herself. Oh she can sing too.
Combined that's Ophelia, no suprise she was offered the role.
I don't need her resume idiot, I saw her in RoPe and she was dogshit

you're a moron and this film will be trash just like everything else she's been in
Frick you, English Renaissance Lit is based. I'm just sad Shakespeare gets all the attention while guys like Middleton, Marlowe, Jonson, and Dekker's works get ignored.
Apparently this film has been 13 years in the making. Originally conceived between Riz and the screenwriter (Michael Lesslie) when they were at uni together.
I'm imagining it's some pretty out there take on Hamlet.
I think Riz see's this film as his shot at an Oscar and will probably kill himself if he doesn't even get nominated.
He's a good actor. It'll be interesting to watch.
>He's a good actor.
LOL NOPE
He'd only be good to play a terrorist getting ventilated by SEALs.
Go leave homosexual

He is Caucasian. I think you're looking for the word "white" or something.

if he was white, he'd be picking up background roles in adverts
it’s funny because this is what literally nobody is thinking

His comments are the most self serving in the history of the world. He's saying 'I should be in more movies or there'll be more terrorism.' What a joke
I was going to say that they should make their own then but I guess they're already doing that so to speak.
But I thought seeing color is bad? Those kids must be racist if they can't have a black role model like Falcon.
You're a lazy second gen fat kid who doesn't want to learn your parent's language, or they were too busy getting their new Western paychecks to teach you, so you don't understand any of the literature or television from your original country. This is not white people's fault.

Problem isn't that the actor is Paki, the problem is that they keep making these with poc actors without adapting the source material.
This is how someone with more than one brain cell adapts Shakespeare when he only has actors of certain ethnic makeup.
He looks like a rat. He has rat-like physiognomy
He looks like the average Dane.
To ring or not to ring? That is the question.

Then why do it if it "means nothing", butthole?
Reminder this is the fk who said it was okay for muslims to commit terroristic acts if guys like him weren't given primo roles in western media.
Apparently this young lass is playing Ophelia.
Of course she's white.
underrated
Alas, poor Yussef! I knew him, Habibi: A fellow of infinite jest.
I want a white actor.
At least /misc/cels are starting to become more honest and self-aware. I just want a good actor to play him, and Ahmed isn't really.
A good actor is a white actor for me. Good at acting, and fits the look. If it doesn't fit the look, it's not good.
I respect your self-aware racism. You're alright in my book, /misc/cel.

Shakespeare adaptations have always been race blind.
Shakespeare plays are insanely inaccurate to begin with because he changed shit just to pander to the ruling class of the day the plays were written in.
I haven't really liked him in anything outside of Four Lions
But the last few Hollywood shakespeares have been dogass
>Joe Alwyn as Laertes
>Timothy Spall as Polonius
>Morfydd Clark as Ophelia
>Set in modern day London but keeping the original Shakespeare dialogue
Looks like Bongkino to me
>modern
Hate this shit. I want to escape to another world, not set it in modern time.
Who's directing?

When did Timothy Spall lose all that weight? Is he okay?
Probably just doing a John Goodman and trying not to die early
>Morfydd Clark as Ophelia
this c**t is aids. first she shit on tolkien with her DOGshit galadriel and now this.

It takes place in modern time.
He's a great actor.
>invasive-species parasites keep on stealing and replacing instead of diving intot heir own cultures
I am sick of this shit. They're doing exactly what Noel Ignatiev said they were gonna do with erasing us from our own civilization.
>immigrants attempt to integrate with local culture
>noooo stop aaaaaaaaaaah not like thaaaat
Replacement isn't integration. That's why it's one-sided, and whites aren't allowed to "integrate" non-white cultures.
not a big fan of Cat Stevens I take it.
Why do you even care about Shakespeare these days? You're Americans ffs... You won't even watch the stuff it's not some Marvel "blockbuster".
Frick you, English Renaissance Lit is based. I'm just sad Shakespeare gets all the attention while guys like Middleton, Marlowe, Jonson, and Dekker's works get ignored.
Hamiliation Riztual
underrated
At least he is a good looking Mohammed
Too old.
Moaning about Shakespeare being race swapped? Is that what it's come to?
Burgers?
I don’t care about race blind Shakespeare but this guy annoys me in everything I’ve seen him in
the world would instantly be a better place if every single non-white was thanos snapped
anyone claiming otherwise is a liar who doesnt have your best interests at heart
