It didn't mindbreak Cinemaphile but it miffed people the after-the-fact showrunner statement that "oh yeah dey gay" suddenly turned a below-mid show everybody on the internet had issues with into this brave and stunning sacred cow above criticism. Criticism that was earned as Korra was a really weak show, even without keeping in mind Avatar was a tough act to follow.
It was a hail mary last minute lesbians where they didn't even fricking kiss. A cynical ploy to legitimize the trash heap that was Korra to the tumblr crowd and it worked
I know it was a cynical ploy but that ending is one of the most influential moments in modern western animation. It was the exact moment when cartoons moved from children to geeks and now every cartoon has a dyke couple
This. It feels like the creators are forced to admit that "Yeah they're dating now" despite previously just shows them to be very close friends. All because the LGBT are already getting boners over it and waiting for the announcement to be official to fully ejaculate/squirt.
>Prince Wu, after effortlessly spearheading a flawless evacuation of Republic City for a public who adores him, abdicates the throne to pursue a career as a singer
I will always be mad
>Kuvira gets the holier than thou speech from Suyin, the b***h who constantly gets to avoid consequences >Her son who created a WMD out of spite gets a slap on the wrist because she said so
Such bullshit.
>moron FotMposter can't understand what a mutual relationship looks like and assumes all that matters is "contrivance" as if they could explain that either
>So...our ratings are shit and no one's watching. Nick's pulled the plug on us, and moved us to some bullshit internet slot or something.
>What do we do?
>Well..does anyone still care about Korra at all?
>Ummm...the gays and the coomers. There's some serious overlap there too.
>Frick it, make Korra gay with Asami then. That'll score us some social points, and keep this mess from becoming a completely irrelevant, black sheep embarrassment.
>Here's your ending, bro.
went something like this: >rarings are shit and no one wants to watch it, where is the return on my money bryke! >stupid investors, you cant criticise us! Korra is gay now so that makes you homophobic!

Did anyone else find it jarring how Korra and Asami suddenly had a special connection in S4? They felt like a aquantinces at most in the previous seasons and then Korra is writing letters to Asami telling her how much she misses her
Korra & Asami most of season 3 together along with the rest of the group. They were captured by the Earth Queen troops and depended on each other to survive. They fought together against the Red Lotus for the rest of the season. All of that time built an attachment to each other. That's what lead Korra to writing to Asami and developing feelings for her later in season 4.
That what confuses a lot of people is the end of the series is the start of their, romance which is different from the usual "I've loved you since we met" media couple. The argument that there nothing between them in the first two seasons is right, there wasn't. Nothing started until season 3. Pars could have been done better, but that's a part of every show.

Because they saw the writing on the wall and tried to get as much plausible deniability to excuse their deflection without actually doing anything bold like showing romantic interest
It's like Gundam Witch from Mercury - they had to clarify the relationship on blogs and yuri-simps ran a victory lap even though the canon show featured handholding at best
Fricking Bryke, just show a kiss it was 2014 not 1982
Korra book 1 was good and worth being in the universe. Should have stopped there, since that was the original plan. Can't even remember how the rest got green-lit. Just that book 2 was shit on fire and 3 & 4 were somewhat better. Though it ultimately became a web stream only at the end.
The show was pushed from prime kids time, to the Friday dead zone, to online only to almost not even that. Turning them lesbian as a heil-mary was a smart move, possibly the only move they had left, nobody but tumblr was left watching by that point. It didn't make the rest of the show retroactively good but it did what they wanted it to do, create a criticism shield to save their careers.
>We wanted to fix a few things regarding Korra and Asami's relationship, like making their queer identity more obvious from the start. Also Asami is played by a transwoman of color
How did this mindbreak Cinemaphile when they already disliked the show?
Because the blatant deflection of the big problems with the finale, the characters and the show in general worked
As it continues to do today
I don't think you understand what "mindbreak" means.

Do you think Korra or her gf has more ticklish feet?

Such bullshit.
Suyin was easily the worst fricking part of the entire series for me.
Unironically less forced and contrived than Kataang.
>moron FotMposter can't understand what a mutual relationship looks like and assumes all that matters is "contrivance" as if they could explain that either
No woman in the entire history of the world ever fell for a guy she treated like an annoying little brother. Cry about it.
And a fine one it was. Too bad they couldn’t get a kiss in there, but it was the early 2000s.

If it makes you feel better, sure.
What's your explanation?

going on a vacation together is a way to have a first date, I guess
Only way to get away from that fricking Meelo.
Two Stupid Cuckqueans
>Interracial lesbian
Yes thank you it's perfect
reminder that Korra is a sub
I want to taste Korra's pussy
The final 3/4 episodes were a trip to see in real time
The problem with this pairing isn't the fact that it's gay
The problem with this pairing is that it's boring as frick
Yeah there's no banter or fun moments with them
Alright, I'll be the bad guy.
"Like a real lesbian relationship amirite?"
Like I know it's just a stereotype but in real life can you lesbians be a little fun and not all serious all the time? No offense, but also a little.
Should have ended with a 4-way Poly relationship.
Who would be the other 2 members?
Opal and Kuvira.
Pabu and Juicy.
me and one other anon
Varrick and Zhu Li
Ikki and Jinora
the whole avatar "team" i assume
Better a three-way between Korra, Asami and Mako. It makes sense in-universe
They have threesomes with men
Here we go.

Broke had their cake and ate it too
Everything.
Is it canon that Mako turns women gay?
Iroh's VA or the character?
Better than the ending of the original show.
I remember it needed to be clarified that they were Lesbians. Anyway a crackship becoming canon is the least of the endings problem.
It's like Gundam Witch from Mercury - they had to clarify the relationship on blogs and yuri-simps ran a victory lap even though the canon show featured handholding at best

The porn was good, should've kept pushing more fapbait characters and none of that spirit-world shit.

MFW they went for the single most cynical pandering ploy they could possibly do and it actually fricking worked
Hypothetical Netflix Interview on the importance of Korrasami in a live action adaptation of the Legend of Korra
>We wanted to fix a few things regarding Korra and Asami's relationship, like making their queer identity more obvious from the start. Also Asami is played by a transwoman of color
For me the show ended with her in a wheelchair crying after being brutally blood-raped.
